Another approach to look at this is via analogies and similarities. Starcraft2 was supposedly codenamed Medusa. And now Diablo III is supposedly codenamed Hydra. Assuming Blizzard was being as crafty with the codename Medusa as it is with Hydra, we should try to solve the puzzle of what Medusa had to do with SC2, then use that key/guide to see if that leads us to what Hydra has to do with Diablo 3.
For instance. With Hydra supposedly being in relation to greek lore/astronomical ideas/numerology. Maybe the same key lies behind the Medusa code name. If we can figure out how Blizzard came up with Medusa (besides the fact that it looks like Kerrigan) then maybe we can link that to how they derived Hydra for Diablo III...
well medusa was a gorgan and had two other sisters Stheno, and Euryale, which totals 3 again just like the moons of pluto...... interesting.
Also she was a Chthenic and had snakes replacing her hair and a gaze that would turn a man to stone. This was given to her by Athena and very similair to a hydra. Also she had 2 offspring Pegasus and Chrysaor which pegasus directly links back to Hercules which had slain the Hydra

From what i know from stealthy, hydra is only a clue for the real thing, it has to do with the underworld (hades/pluto)with the gods and that such, so don't stick onto the hydra thing to long
so from what I've read This whole Hydra thing leads to make me Believe that
D3
Heaven and Hell are in a battle and a hero namely us will have to choose a side to battle for and decide who is the victor. Seems as though both realms will play a major role in the game and that will be based on Greek mythology and Diablo Lore containing many heroes probably the 7 evils and many other lesser characters such as the 7 High gods like Zeus and Poseidon I am just ranting on in belief of the possibilities hope i uncovered something.
Good speculation, Blades! But unfortunately you've gone astray. Do not think of the Greek mythology being, Greek mythology. Instead, replace Mount Olympus with Heaven, Hades with Hell, Heracles with the hero, the Hydra with Diablo, and so on and so forth. Besides, Hydra is just a clue. This is all a game.

Medusa is also similar to Lady Vashj (looks just like that to be precise). Would it make any difference if i mentioned it before the announcement? No. Now does an actual Hydra remind us of anything of Diablo? No. More like WoW (has Hydras for enemies) but again, it doesnt mean anything cause it has no credibility at all.
It's way too elaborate for someone to make it up. Trust me.
You will see what I am talking about in a little while.
dont be too sure or u'll be very dissappointed. There's nothing to support what NicoV said. I too hope he speaks the truth, but he doesnt provide enough to believe him. And Blizzard never supported rumors by sending people in fan sites.
Ok, how about this:
First three digits add up to be 8 - number of the month of August
Last three digits represent the 3rd and 4th of August
And the III means Diablo III?
you guys have too much time
Blizzard never put riddles or left clues to lead on future announcements. Dont think they'll change policy now.
Mount Olympus represents heaven. The deities that reside on this mountain are in constant battle with the Underworld, which is Hell. Zeus would make many treaties with the ruler of the Underworld, Hades (the Underworld is known as, Hades), to keep everything under control, but he would obviously break them in due time. This conflict may be the plot for DIII. But that's all I will say.
only thing i understand from that is that you dont know Greek Mythology.
Olympus is (according to ancient greek mythology) the residence of most Gods. Except Poseidon (sea) and Hades (underworld). Because they chose too. Poseidon and Hades were also brothers to Zeus and they were freed by him (they were eaten by their dad, Kronos). Anyway, there's not a battle between Underworld and Olympus in ancient mythology. The underworld was also the natural resting place for the dead and there wasnt anything "evil" in that (according to ancient mythology again).

greek mythology had 12 high gods and no evil ones. The most "evil" entity mentioned is a titan, Kronos, the father of the gods (that ate them to prevent being overthrown by them, as he was).
Cant find a connection between Greek Mythology and Diablo.
Anyway, guys, if they tried to find a codename that sophisticated it would take them more time than to actually develop the game. You're all just making yourselves crazy for nothing.
well this is just all in good fun for me i dont care if its real or not and there are strong relations between greek mythology and Diablo the game itself from my point of veiw was created from Chritianity and Greek mythology.

Okay. Just to clear things up, I wasn't saying that Mount Olympus is Heaven, I meant that it is like Heaven. Being that it is a higher place that no mortal is to reach. Just like Hades and the Hydra, they are all a kind of reflection of what Diablo is and what it will be. That is why they have codenames! They don't just come up with a random name when they make one, there is always reason behind it.
..ANYWAYS..
Here is another hint: Labours of Heracles.

Interesting. Although I would have expected the second hint to be a deer or something as that would have been Heracles' third task. Hydra was second.
By the way, didn't Heracles have to complete the labours in order to get the gods/heavens favor back? So maybe the Diablo 3 character (with the help of our good friend, Tyrael! :)) will have to complete tasks for breaking the worldstone.
I have read this entire thread , all I have to say is this....
Stealth, You are no better then the sick freaks at blizz that wont confirm d3...
If you know something ...... Please Tell Us.. If not, do not dangle candy in front our faces and snatch it away when we reach for it.
Did you not see the massive petition??
Grow a pair and "spill the Beans" , nothing bad will happen I Promise Pumpkin.
Haha. I saw the petition. It's a great initiative. And I do love candy. But you know what? Most of the these great people who attend and post in this fantastic forum have confirmed many things without even knowing it!
By the way, I have a pair, Pumpkin.
I'm just not quite ready to "Spill the Beans" just yet.
In due time, my friend, in due time.

no connection and no credibility to all "hints"... Just wait to hear things from official mouths. It doesnt make sense and even if it did it wouldnt mean anything. Its a person that has nothing to do with Blizzard in the first place (Stealthy) and a person we have no good reason to believe that has something to do with Blizzard (NicoV). Just dont make things up that might make you look bad afterwards. BlizzCon isnt that far away anyway.

Well theCeryneian Hind was the next hint. (I have to go in order of the pages. Not to throw anyone off.)
So the next hint is: Ceryneian Hind
Some hints are derived from the codename, portraying a possible storyline.
