I didn't write this, I found it. All the same, its exactly how I feel, and I think it can shed a new angle. So read this, and keep in mind that these are real people.
You stay up for 16 hours.
He stays up for days on end.
You take a warm shower to help you wake up.
He goes days or weeks without running water.
You complain of a "headache", and call in sick.
He gets shot at as others are hit, and keeps moving forward.
You put on your anti war/don’t support the troops shirt, and go meet up with your friends.
He still fights for your right to wear that shirt.
You talk trash about your "buddies" that aren’t with you.
He knows he may not see some of his buddies again.
You walk down the beach, staring at all the pretty girls.
He patrols the streets, searching for insurgents and terrorists.
-
You complain about how hot it is.
He wears his heavy gear, not daring to take off his helmet to wipe his brow.
You go out to lunch, and complain because the restaurant got your order wrong.
He doesn’t get to eat today.
Your maid makes your bed and washes your clothes.
He wears the same things for weeks, but makes sure his weapons are clean.
You go to the mall and get your hair redone.
He doesn’t have time to brush his teeth today.
You’re angry because your class ran 5 minutes over.
He’s told he will be held over an extra 2 months.
You call your girlfriend and set a date for tonight.
He waits for the mail to see if there is a letter from home.
You hug and kiss your girlfriend, like you do everyday.
He holds his letter close and smells his love’s perfume.
You roll your eyes as a baby cries.
He gets a letter with pictures of his new child, and wonders if they’ll ever meet.
You criticize your government, and say that war never solves anything.
He sees the innocent tortured and killed by their own people and remembers why he is fighting.
You hear the jokes about the war, and make fun of men like him.
He hears the gunfire, bombs and screams of the wounded.
You see only what the media wants you to see.
He sees the broken bodies lying around him.
You are asked to go to the store by your parents. You don’t.
He does exactly what he is told even if it puts his life in danger.
You stay at home and watch TV.
He takes whatever time he is given to call, write home, sleep, and eat.
If you support your troops, then click "reply to poster" copy all the codes, and repost the bulletin.
If you don’t support your troops well, then don’t re-post. You won’t die in 7 days, your love life won’t be affected, and you won’t have the worst day ever. You don’t have to repost. It’s not like you know the men and women that are dying to preserve your rights.

Another, soldiers are better than civilians because they can endure horrible things, as well as do horrible things? Or what are you trying to say with this poster?
Soldier is a job. Just like any other. No need to raise soldiers, who protect their country, above doctors who save peoples' lives, or over teachers who raise the next generation, or over scientists who invent the very weapons those soldiers use, or over policemen who patrol the roads, or over firemen who put down fires and risk their lives to save people, or over the regular low-income builders who founded that building you right now sit in typing all this up.
Soldier is an occupation a certain person chose. Soldiers are tools. There is no reason to hate them, because they only do what they are told, but there is no reason to praise them, because they are just another part of society. Just because their lives are sometimes harder than the lives of other people (hmm, debatable) it doesn't mean they are better than us. It also doesn't mean we cannot criticize them like we criticize any other profession.
And I can tell you. There are more people out there who can endure war and army compared to people who can endure simple studying, extensive thinking, and extensive abstraction. And the wars of tomorrow are not going to be won by honor and valor, they are going to be won by technology and the minds of the commanders.
"You hug and kiss your girlfriend, like you do everyday.
He holds his letter close and smells his love’s perfume."
You go to war and still have a girlfriend? What kind of a jackass has a girlfriend if he can die tomorrow?

Where did it say soldiers are better then civilians? It's something someone made to show people what soldiers go through, there's been people who have done the same for other important to our society professions. Few people hold those serving to a higher regard to other comparable professions, respect is deserved in certain professions and it's despicable that you're pretty much saying a 30 year old live moms basement high school drop out working in the fish section at a pet store is equal to a soldier with a bachelors degree and should be treated with the same respect. Simply because the 30 year old chose that profession.
You're making it sound like everyone in the armed forces are knuckle dragging robots, fact is most of the people involved in combat couldn't think as slow as you if they tried. You're wrong, most people cannot endure war, people who can't don't come home, life or death is measured in seconds on the battle field.
The wars of tomorrow will be won with honor and valor for a very long time to come, are you a red neck who believes the middle east should be one giant glass crater, like it's all that easy? You think soliders are going to be replaced with robots any time soon? Wars cannot be won with UAV carrying bombs, and it's normally not the intention to completely obliterate a country.
War is won with determination, perseverance, intelligence, alot of money and a gullible lower class to bolster the ranks
You can leave honor, valor and courage for those gushy war movies with the excessive amount of flag saluting
Yes, it is a hard "profession"... I think the point of campaigns like these is too boost moral and support for the troops which is good I suppose. People didnt really like the troops who came back from Vietnam
Dude... stfu... do you even know what you're talking to?... (for your own good)
I understand I've offended you in another post. Your feelings were hurt. It's ok, just give someone a hug. Because telling me to stfu without any explanation will get you nowhere.

You hurt my feelings?... I don't recall this?... Gieb link?... Anyway.. She's a she... I highly doubt you want to fight her...
That's your defense? She's a she, therefore I should stfu? I'm aware Equinox is female. Her perspective on love is twisted. Guys are assholes because they keep a bond with someone they love, while in the heat of danger? It's just clearly an opinion of someone who hasn't felt a strong enough connection to someone. I don't even know who I'm explaining this too. I highly doubt you can comprehend much of what anyone says.

This was the most stupid fucking thing I've read this year. If you don't support people who save your ass everyday, then go live in fucking Rwanda, or Sudan, take your armed forces for granted.

Well tomorrow is not here yet is it? I hope you meet a soldier who served in Vietnam, or WWII, and tell them that what they did was useless. No studying could ever prepare someone for the mental toughness which is needed to jump on a grenade to save your Officer, Anyone can be a doctor or fireman, the only thing is needed is courage and determination, just like a soldier, except as a soldier you are expected to have more determination and courage of 1000 firefighters and the skill of 1000 brainsurgeons, soldiers are perfect at what they do just like any other, except the fact that the road to get there is harder and the path traveled from there on is rougher.

How fucking selfish are you? Soldiers are called to duty, and may not have a choice, while women are lonely for 6 months or a year and leave the boyfriend or husband. Their mental toughness is incredibly weak and feeble minded, if only you could see one day of way, or even a glimpse into a day of military training.

You going to have to explain to me how the war in Iraq has anything to do with freedom and cheap goods though
You know very little about love. I pity you.
