For the most part, I really hate comic books and movies based on comic books. And I even know at the time I saw Spawn just how silly it really was. Yet somehow, I managed to enjoy it anyway. And when it's one tv today, I'll totally watch it. Maybe I'm somewhat biased toward it cause I like other stories about Heaven vs. Hell (to a point), or maybe I just thought it was super duper cool how Spawn could be a giant spike or create a decapitating spinning chain come out of his body and other shit. While I'm pretty critical and cynical about most movies these days, especially action ones, even more especially gay ass comic book ones, Spawn for whatever reason was still a lot of fun for me to watch.
With few original movies being made anymore, with all the reboots, remakes and all that crap, why hasn't there been a new Spawn movie in over ten years? I read stories about rumors about it being in development, but nothing substantiated as far as I can tell. Something about it maybe being released in 2013. Really?
Haven't any of you wondered about this? Seriously, fuck comic book movies. That's my attitude and I'm still curious about whether this sequel will ever get made.
Read all the comis that came out in my country (not many..) Spawn is my all-time favourite in superheroes category.
I hated the first real movie, and I have only watched two cartoons about Spawn, since they don't exist here.
Nothing but the internet is in my range about Spawn, if a reboot of the movie is made (I think it will come since its on IMDB more frequently now!) I hope they make it right this time.
Rumors now is that Tobb McFarlane are gonna direct it by himself, having low budget costs etc etc. Don't know if this is true.
Oh I liked Spawn when I watched it as a kid. Lots of cool stuff, explosions and a creepy transforming clown.
I'm not sure if I will still enjoy it now. Acquiring the movie tonight to see the results.
I remember Marilyn Manson's track for that movie though. Pretty awesome it was.
As for Spawn 2... Hmm... I dunno. Can he do more cool stuff with his magic cape? Seems like he did everything in the first movie or maybe I'm just being unimaginative.
But then again he doesn't have the most gripping origin story. So a second movie featuring an interesting villain could possibly be more fun than the first.
His origin story seems no less or more interesting than most comic book heroes. Through some providence, divine or otherwise did he get his power. He's reluctant about them at first like most super heroes then eventually embraces all of it.
It just seems like there's already a built in audience for these kinds of movies. People go to see action movies. People go to see comic book movies. So I can't imagine how making another Spawn would be that much of a risk. If anything it seems like comic book movies are a sure thing now. So why didn't they rush to make a sequel and make a decent profit off of it? Spiderman sucked lots and lots of ass and it still made tons of money.
I dunno I really thought it was a pretty good movie for the time. I really like his suit. It's sort of a dark story though if they stay true to the comics. I'd love to see what they could do with special effects now.
I still have the first 10 spawn comics. Loved that stuff. I probably have the toys around here somewhere as well. Thats really a great question. It was certainly a good film. Especially considering that superhero films weren't what they are today. I would love to see a reboot.

As much as I would like to see another attempt made on a Spawn film, I don't think it's going to happen. Todd wants to do it all by himself, with a super low budget. Plus I haven't read any new news on it in a while so, I don't know.

Edit: Spelling; comics, not books
