I wonder if anyone on this forum uses a Pocket PC of some sort right now. I extensively used them for reading purposes. My first Pocket PC's were a Palm, and, later, an iPaq, and they both worked fine and served many years.
Recently, though, my father bought me a Dell Axim X51. He insisted that Dell is the best manufacturer of Pocket PC's at this point. Knowing my father, I am not sure if that's true. I wanted to start readind Dune now. So far this device annoyed me on some points:
Firstly, its battery seems to have broken. It discharges in about 10 minutes after it has been fully charged, and it is supposed to have lithium batteries so I don't think it's a memory problem. I am forced to read with the cord going from the device to the electrical circuit, which is not what I am used to, and, obviously, I can't use it at school. Sometimes the device doesn't load, and freezes, too. And we only had it for a year and it was acting like this for a while.
Secondly, I was recently not able to connect the device to the computer. I managed to download some sort of Active-Sync (and if anyone knows a good download location that would be of great help), I connected the device, synchronized, and my computer doesn't see the Pocket PC, so I am stuck with Catch-22 and a few other books. I am not sure if this is the problem of the cord (which keeps falling apart so I actually taped it up, lol), or of the Software. I have heard that there are different versions of Active-Sync for this device, can anyone confirm that and point me to where I can find the right program?
Yea, you certainly didn't read my post, did you? You should delete that since it has nothing to do with the main topic... Seeing how good Dune is is not going to fix my Pocket PC nor get me a copy out of the blue.
