As I said before, in both of them you press the button/pad at the correct time and correct place. Similarity. They both have to do with music. Similarity. Both have game specific controllers. Similarity. They're interactive. Similarity. Only difference is the shape of the controller.
Look its true you have to do the pressing thing at the correct time and place, both have to do with music, etc etc. but the way you achieve these goals are WAY different. First of all, Guitar Hero you stand in one spot and press buttons and strum the thing or w/e, in DDR you have to move your feet on this pad and even touch the arrows with your hand a lot. Really, the gameplay is different. What the hell.
The way you do things is DIFFERENT.

"Cards and flowers on your window, your friends all plead for you to stay,
sometimes beginnings aren't so simple, sometimes goodbye's the only way."
What you're saying is like saying CoD for the Wii and for the Xbox 360 are different. Same games, but one you point and shoot, other you use control stick and shoot. From what I've noticed. They are the same.
But, you keep saying that they are different in general. Whereas really they are very similar. You started by arguing about how the games are different and now you're just arguing that you use different body parts.
Like I said, gameplay is different. Gameplay is body movements, what you use to score the points, etc. (in DDR vs. GH case anyways)
And IMO, gameplay is the most general part of games... like it's kinda hard to talk about the games. Most games you judge gameplay by what's on the screen. But in DDR and GH, the fun part is not what's in the screen. You don't really do anything in the screen. Kinda weird when you think about it

No, gameplay is the same. Controller is different. Gameplay is what you do in the game, the style of the game etc. Controls/Controllers are the difference in these games and are what we're doing in real life.
And gameplay is the screen for video games. Gameplay for board games is the board. Gameplay for video games is the video a.k.a. screen. This applies to all video games.

so what do you call that then? isn't that how you play the game? maybe you two just have different views on what gameplay is... to me GH is different because to play it you don't need to stomp on buttons but rather hold frets and strum.
Well I always think of it as how the game plays, not you. Because reviewers usually review games with multiple categories. Sometimes gameplay and controls are both their. So they can't be the same.
And how you play the game is still basically the same. Press buttons at specific times.
The difference is the controller that is used. That's basically the only difference.
And how you use it. And which body parts to use. The mechanics that you need to play it are totally different. And you play a song on Guitar Hero and you're not just dancing to a gay techno song. If you were selling both games you wouldn't tell someone that they are the same game. You'd tell em that one you dance in and the other you play a guitar. Pretty different if you ask me.
Winston, the feel is different. The feel is the gameplay. Cmon man think about it!
Frets on Fire... free PC version of Guitar Hero, better songs, hold the keyboard like a guitar and for my keyboard it actually feels quite comfortable.
People don't make songs too hard. And yeh you can edit your own songs and save them and give them to people to play on the game and do all the notes and stuff...
And if you plan to install, the latest version is VERY buggy. Xfire also supports this game.

Why must you argue, chaos, that you are always right? you tell equinox to leave a thread because they says "nay" to guitar hero, yet the poll and question is asking if you like it or not. She doesnt like it, and has the right to post her opinion here, not get flamed for not liking the game because you do like it.
Game play is how the game plays. Not how it "feels". Through the fire and flames is fun, but its unrealistically hard. I can get 85% on expert but its just stupidly hard. It gets to the point where im sweating and getting carpal tunnel, it isnt FUN. I own all 4 guitar heros. But i am planning on getting Rock Band because it looks a lot funner (drums ftw) and its a lot more social. XBox live is where its at; gh was less interaction with people. Yes, you're going to say rock band looks a lot easier; thats because its funner to get more notes and not struggle with hammer ons and offs to where your wrist is hurting just to get a solo. Also, it would be impossible to sing and play expert guitar in GH without failing the vocals.'
well a real guitar is expensive and the game is a cheap solution, but it is no sustitute for the real thing. Can you play the tristram theme on guitar hero? can u play hourglass or one gun by lamb of god? can you be original and come up with shit on the fly? NO. Yes i understand its fun but playing the real thing is way more fun, and if you would actually take the initiative play the real thing you might understand, and you might actually be good. posers O.o
and i love you equinox *plays a love song*
and if ne of you are cosidering picking up the real deal this might help you http://www.power-tab.net/

I play a real guitar a tiny bit. I'm pretty bad at it and I would probably be a lot better with GH in the same period of time but I just don't spend enough time with it.

That's not much different, though it is, it is a better (and more difficult) experience. But Guitar Hero and DDR are different...
THE WAY YOU DO THINGS ARE THE SAME. Not the goal. Not what's happening on the screen. What's happening in REAL LIFE.
I really don't have anything to say about this anymore, if you can't understand by now then I'm done.

I don't see what's so hard to understand here.
