Alright its Sunday wooo! Decided to make my first topic here.
Sigh, Hellgate:London, the First-Person Action RPG.(yep lol)
From Flag Ship Studios AKA people who left blizzard that made the Diablo series.
And since Blizzard owns the Diablo Franchise, our good old buddies went on to make this.
Hellgate: London, so what to you guys think?
I've did my research, I've looked around. And I gotta say, I really, really like what I'm seeing. It really is shaping up, and it looks good. And it looks like EXACTLY what I need.
Looks different, fits my playstyle, and its from the guys did It right the first two times.
---
But what do you guys think here?
I've only been here for awhile, but all of you are hoping and longing for a third installment for Diablo, and I am too.
But what do you really beleive? Hellgate will probably be more fun and diablo like instead of what Blizzard can spit out.
Diablo MMORPG anyone? Yeah I think we all know what we'd do if that happened.
Well, so whats your say on Hellgate: London?
If you don't know what it is, I'd say do a google search.
If you know what it is, but havnt heard about the new things and how
its shaping up..I suggest a google search XD
they're pretty much forcing you to pay to play it, even though its supposed to be single-player too. Some of the features (even single-player) wont be availiable unless you pay (level cap at 35 if you dont pay, if you pay... no level cap). Same goes with some items and game difficulty.
I either want it MMO or a free game (after purchase). I'm pretty sure i'm not getting it after what i read about the versions.
I would say do a forum search there are some threads about Hellgate London.
Damn. Sorry.
I just did a search, There was just some small discussions in posts not made about hellgate.
And there was a post made awhile ago, and the last post was made in May D:
Or maybe I should of posted in the topic thats 2 months old?
I dont know, doesnt sound good to me.
Makin a fresh new one appealed to me.
And about the pay to play thing.
If your gonna be playing online, might as well do the p2p.
but I dont see the point in having a free version that just plain sucks compared to the one with the monthly fee.
10$ is better then 15$ tho.
And remember, your paying for more content.
And dont say D2 had free patches, so this should too. Because the content in patches offered in WoW are great and add alot to the game.
Because there being payed monthly to do it.

10$ is too much for a game thats both single and multiplayer. In any MMO you pay for content patches, server quality, customer support and more. But giving a "cut" version of a game just to attract people to get the "full package" doesnt appeal to me. Just 35 levels and no difficulty settings, not to mention the better items and most of the multiplayer options feels more like a demo to me. And i wont pay full price to play a demo.
WoW is an MMORPG and content patches do keep the game alive. But you dont only pay for the patches. You pay for the game aswell - i havent seen Blizzard offering a "non patch version up to lvl 30 with only the game purchase". Oh, wait, there is a free version of the game up to level 20 but thats called "trial" and is completely free. Hellgate is supposed to give a singleplayer campaign too. Whats the point to play it, though, if its going to be gimped?
Thats why I was saying if your going to even play it online you might as well pay.
And the single solo play does offer a campaign.
And your right,it will be gimped for players who just want to play the campaign by themselves and not pay 10$ a month.
Doesnt sound to good.
PS
i just realized your name is a tolkien reference XD
or..is it just a huge coincidence
it is Tolkien reference, i loved (and still do) the Silmarillion and all of his work i read so far. Anyway, good thing we understood each other. If the multiplayer part works well as an MMO it might be worth to pay for. But to me it looks like they're trying to immitate Guild Wars in the way the people will log on and some of the typical MMOs to the additional content. Still doesnt look attractive to me, though. I'd expect something more like battle.net from the creators of it. I just hope they wont start a new trend.
Too bad The Silmarillion wasnt as praised as much as the Trilogy.
Actually,Tolkien's kid put out a book this year, not too long ago. The Children of Húrin. Its supposed to be "untouched" and just pieced together as Tolkien had started it almost almost 90 years ago.
Havnt looked into it, and I dont think I will.
Check it out at all Fingol?
Well, for Hellgate.
It will be here soon, and I'm pretty sure I'll buy it a week or two after the release. Or maybe even the day it comes out.
Then I'll post a review here on the forums saying if it sucks or not :/.

i read it last month. I liked the details in it. His son managed to make a good sum of his fathers notes. Will check for other things he releases too.
back on topic i was going to check out Hellgate too before i saw the things about the "shorter" singleplayer and multiplayer version if you dont pay monthly. Thats what made me want to boycott the game in the first place. I might aswell think of piracy, i'm pretty sure people will find a way to provide the content patches too so i wont bother with that. Good games that were developed and released with respect to the customers i always buy. But the way i see it this way they only aim at my pocket. And i could also say i'm glad they're not working with Blizzard anymore, would hate that to happen to Diablo 3.
*edit*
the changes apply to the multiplayer versions of the game. Here's the deal:
Normal | Elite Version (monthly paid)
game price: 40 euro for both (around 35$ i would assume)
monthly fees: 0 for the cut version| 10$ for the "elite" version
customer support: yes, not 24/7 for normal | 24/7
possible characters created: 3 | 12
level cap: 35-40 | unlimited
extra content: none | content patches
private stash: 20 slot | (minimum) 40
common stash (for all chars): no | yes
trades: yes but no elite items | yes
high lvl quests: not for | yes
join guilds: yes for both
game modes: Coop | Coop, RPG, Hardcore, Nightmare, PvP for elite
create and manage guilds: no | yes
voice chat, friends list: no | yes
pirating is worse for the companies. boycott might hit them a little but curiosity would make people buy after all. Even though i doubt i'll even download the game, its more likely for me to do so than to actually buy it. Flagship hasnt earned my respect yet, and by offering an extremely cut multiplayer part they most likely wont. Ever.
Being a World of Warcraft player, and I've always played MMORPGs and payed monthly. Its something I'm use to.
But I've learned that you pay for the game monthly because its worth it.
Sure, I'd say they completed their idea of content for the game.
Then sat down and said "ahah, lets split the content in half, and make them pay for it!".
Kind of a dick move yes.
Why did they do this? To be noble, and supply people who don't have the money to still be able to enjoy the game?
Does this seperate FSS from the big monkey mmorpg companies that just want money?
Why didnt they just make EVERYONE pay if it was just for the business.
I say: I really dont know why they're pulling this :/ .
The Single-Player is a fully expected 50+ hour experience.
It is in no way, effected by the P2P.
As you all can see, all the P2P extra content wasnt really made for Singleplayer.
SO that shoves out that problem.
Like I said before, if your even going to play the game online you might as well pay.
Other then all of this it better be fun. *EDIT* Oh, and about pirating.
Imagine with Stealthtfart's game. His masterpiece, finally created.
Then lots of people go out and torrent the damn thing.
How would that make him feel?
Its like being a Music Artist.
Its anysong at anytime these days, all of their works being endlessley shared and downloaded.
Now the same thing is happening to the Movie/Game industry.

Do you want to call a debate on piracy here?
I would feel i would'v made a bad game not worth buying, if a game is good it'll sell, the games business is bigger then ever yet they constantly complain about so called pirating and shoving a bad games sales on it.
All of their boring, unoriginal, repetitive, uncreative music being shared over and over again, i can see why someone would be against that, sure
Movies? don't get me started.
Oh and cg on the nice new avatar Equinox, it reminds me of an ets painting by a famous long dead guy where you can see a entire opera reflection in a eyeball.
Dopple I'm not sure what you really mean.
I DL all the music I like.
If I'm going to pirate a game, its going to be a game I've been excited about, and thats actually fun and well made.
Why would I waste time and harddrive space downloading bad material?
As for how you feel about the game, I wouldnt really feel I've made a bad game. I'd just be plain pissed XD
Its bad material! Its unwanted!
Unless your some absolute pirating FREAK who needs to own every single piece of pop culture that exists in digital form.
This horrible, shitty game that no one likes, ofcourse it isnt worth buying!
so I gotta pirate it now?
hmm.
as an example of a music album i first downloaded and then i bought cause i thought was very good: Evanescence: Fallen and most of the Black Sabbath albums. About a game? Gothic 2. I had it imported from Germany in fact (Gothic 3 too - of which i bought both normal and collectors) since i thought it was worth the money. And i'm not saying its bad to pay monthly, its just i dont like a game to be sold as 2 (Singleplayer+MMO wtf?).
