Demon Hunter drops caltrops reducing your damage by 90% as long as you stand in it. What's a barbarian gonna do about that?
Weapon Throw, seismic slam. Hit the demon hunter from a range just beyond the trap, or just glue to the demon hunter until he runs out of discipline.
Regardless I think people will find that no matter what predictions and calculations you make about pvp based about what we know now, it will surely change at high levels of gear if nothing else. Gear will work differently with different character builds. I'm sure some will be made or broken by the gear even. What's more is you can't really plan for everything that could happen to your character. You may prepare and smash one thing only to be smashed by another. These are things we're going to have to feel out as we go along in the diablo 3 universe. Quite exciting!
I had the lucky chance of playing the pvp demo at the last Blizzcon. And I love the deathmach style that they were using, incredibly fun. There is a lot of skill in it.
Me and my friend used a lot of teamwork with the Barb and the WD. We would do slow circles around the map and try to get behind them. My freind would hex>poison dart and spirt walk if he got low health or surrounded. I would do spear>Bash>leap>hammer of the ancients and if I got into trouble I would ignore pain>beserk and I was unstoppable the only thing that killed me was monks they would go immune to my attacks the seven-hit strike me and kill me instantly.
Every class had op moves that could kill any other class (except the DH couldn't figure it out) the barb had its buffs, the wizard had the archon ability, the WD had its hexes and the monk had it healing and seven-hit strike. I hope I can play some more pvp soon because that is all I am going to be doing.
This is something I'm afraid of. It seems to me like there is some imbalance, and I believe their track record with wow isn't that good at creating balance quickley. I know it's not an easy thing to do, but if the pvp is unbalanced it's going to make the game much less enjoyable for me personaly.
First of all I think this topc is the same as which pvp class will be on top.
Secondly I think demon hunter is going to be the underdog in pvp because of it's lack of healing abilities.
Next up it's going to be tough but I think in terms of survival the Monk will be far superior to most.
The wizard is not that good since his teleport won't help him versus a charging jumping pulling stunning warrior.
The invis from the WD however will be a good escape
As many people have said, the barbarian is like the burst guy but has some sick survivability.
If he charges straight in and the wizard teleports away, he charges but what if the wizard has the double teleport rune and gets away again and then the barbarian is stuck being kited again.
Just some theory crafting i guess, but I will non the less think that the barbarian will be super strong in pvp
I don't see how Monk won't be the best PvP class. The Monk has the best combo of defense and attack to survive attacks then kill attackers. Dashing Strike might be the single best PvP ability in the game, too.
Because the Witch Doctor simply dominated @ blizzcon.
It has an invisiblity which heals and while under 25% life you can have 80% damage reduction and 40% damage absorbtion.
Also you have amazing CC which can be devestating when everyone jumps on one guy.
Also about the Wormhole kiting from wizzards. I do not think that's that big of a deal for barbarians. Barbarians have a lot of stuns. A leap with a stun a charge with a stun and they can hook the wizzard to them with a spear. The Wormhole only has a 1.5 second window. After that he has to wait 13.5 seconds till he can get away with ease again. Enough time to get focussed down.
The barbarian will probably be severely overpowered in pvp initially. I think blizzard will do a decent job of leveling the playing field, just like they have done with other games (WoW). They always take away or alter abilities of each class, because fighting other players is a lot different than fighting monsters. However, Blizzard is beta testing pvp internally, so as i stated before, I doubt the classes will be balanced initially.
I think that Witch doctor and Monk will get nerfed a little in the future. Witch doctor great dps great CC and Monk is like a rogue paladin from wow with insane mobility and survivability. That dashing strike is the single best ability in the game with not only pvp but also pvm usage.
I have not read the entire topic however im rolling a demon hunter for a few reasons.
Entangling shot as a hatred generatror. Win.
Combined with vault and evasive fire to help keep distance on players. invaluable.
and for when you want to bring the pain, you have marked for death on your target and pop shadow power and smash some impales into them.
It depends on gear and how you play, the wizard could anticipate movements and cast spells accordingly. Each class has its perks in pvp, the barb may have great dps, but I'm sure every other class can do just as well. For example the witch doctors pets can keep close fighters at bay, and he's pretty good even without his pets with skills like firebats.
