The WD's gargantuan summon is sort of a mystery because noone knows how it will work with anything, but a person on twitter wanted to see the progress on it and if it would come out shortly maybe with the male DH Diablo had this to say @Hakuro93 Probably not super soon, but the model was recently completed.
So at least we know that stuff will be coming out in the coming weeks maybe months. The male DH announcement is supposed to be soon so I'm guessing they'd throw a bunch of skills from every class at us as well.

I am looking forward to seeing the Gargantuan. I am hoping that the WD's summons are close to the Druid's Summons. The mongrels are like his wolves while the Gargantuan is like the Grizzly. I hope it is some sort of huge malformed zombie.

I hope his summons are more useful than the druid's though. About equal in power with the necromancer's though different enough in their use (number vs power balance) that it doesn't feel like necro 2.0 which many people (including myself) still see the WD as.

A soft answer turneth away wrath. Once wrath is looking the other way, shoot it in the head!
Well the problem i see with a pure summon WD, is lack of them, i think he only has three. Which doesn't bode well for people like me who love summons. I'm hoping they do something with a summon class for the expansions because they need a main summon class.

Summon druid is by any means standard for a pet class. WD needs alot of work to be considered a pet class archetype. Right now his a ranged damager with summons as distraction for enemies.
Compered to D2 even a amazon can fill this whole with decoy/valk + ranged attacks.
Yea exactly, which is why the Gargantuan could determine whether or not it can be bulit as a pet class. Either way, I doubt any D3 "pet class" will be as pet heavy as a Zookeeper Necro or something like that. Its a pretty passive playstyle and they seem to be extremely focused on action. Not to mention you can only have seven skills, so any more than two summons (maybe three) and you're kind of running out of room. But if the Gargantuan is really more of a damage dealing pet, or a good tanking pet, then it could push the WD's pets in general past "distractions."
The Gargantuan is gonna be awesome, no matter what. Hopefully it's one of those giant things from Diablo II Act 1 that you first met in the Den of Evil. I wanna summon one and watch it two-fist slam demons into the dirt!

Summon necro passive? The huge variety of curses pluss CE and ressumoning give alot of stuff to do, except against bosses.
And a pet class is not a class that summon 25 pets and wacth then kill everything... It's a class that channel their skills via his pets or make skill effective by using then. So theres a true interaction between he character anmd the pets. Exemple of this kind of skill is the sacrifice skill. Other exemple is amplify damage from D2's necros.
The pet class plays like a support class while his pet is the actual party. A support play style is very action intensive and would fit the game pretty well.
Well yea, but passive as in you're not the one doing most of the damage. I liked playing summoner classes, but in the end a Summoner/damage dealer goes better with the pace D3 seems to be going for, as opposed to a zookeeper which is all about maintaining your horde and debuffing people. Which is fun, but not as "powerful" feeling as someone who has a smaller horde but also does a lot of casting themself, like the WD as we currently know him. I'm just saying that how good the Garguantuan is could determine if a zookeper-esque build is even possible with the WD.

However it is probably going to be some awesome creature that only the craziest of us can fathom. (Somebody get Nekro on the job).
