Although they have merged, they are still two separate companies. Here's about how their stuffs are set up.
Activision pumps out a ton of games that will turn a profit each year which, in turn, gets moved to Blizzard to fund their huge titles which nets Vivendi even more cash.
Once WoTLK, SC2, and Diablo 3 are released, Blizzard should never need to worry about money again, not that they have to now... Maybe they can use their money to buy out EA

I think Blizzard > ID by a huge margin. Blizzard made much more refined and complex games than ID, and that's including even WoW. ID mostly lived off their graphics technology and other companies.
Hmmm EA are in a financial sh*thole at the moment - so you know. Wouldn't be surprised if they do get taken over.
Yeah, but it would be illegal for Blizzard to buy EA.
EA is a producer which has separate projects (some projects in competition with WoW) run by separate development companies. Blizzard could shut down all future MMO projects and make WoW the only MMO, forcing anyone that wants to play an MMO to pay money to Blizzard.

Edit: So, probably not.
I like that.

Watching 240 guys talk trash about cavaliers is like two retards having a slapfight over a sippy cup.
this is really just a deal to try to spread both companies influence farther then before, so they can sell more. Also it's a good kick in the ass to EA.
