I killed that insect witch in inferno yesterday with my DH and i was using the 2 sec SS ( runed it for dmg fog ) and it was hard but doable, you can still od it with 2 seconds it's just harder.
I never used it for perma invincibility because i don't like that kind of thing and i knew it will get fixed, i use it like pally bubble in wow, it's my "oh crap i'm gonna die" button, not let's keep it on and nuke
Fix your kiting skills, get some gear and do it like a man!
magda is probably the easieast boss in diablo3 weird to compare it to that
Now, add the way Blizzard delivers the difficulty, e.i. everything that hit you will 1-shot you and we have a problem. Smokescreen abuse was answer to badly designed, implemented and tested Inferno difficulty.
Big Surprise there, they designed inferno to be a real big challenge, i think we got that.
Not tested? Yeah and i think its awesome, thats why its a challenge, if it was tested there would be easy ways to deal with it, but thats life. Open your eyes and try like many other said.
Even if most people dont like wow around here(or secretly like it), all the wow player remember old classic and bc content? nobody knew shit, they all had to try and wipe even through the bugged lady vashj. Dunno about you but the new way of blizz instances really pisses me off, Throw instances on a test server, let the top guilds clear normal and some heroics before its even out.
Even though, or maybe because of that, i like inferno. Right now i can see in a perfect universe how it can be done with kiting, and maybe i ignore some other opportunities, but thats life, they will open up when you look for them, not when you cry about them.
The Range that doenst get it by anything lives in the perfect universe most of the time, but we can get closer to that, and it is possible. Practice, and then we will see about it. For the time being gettin hit isnt avoidable, so what can we do? live with it and deal with better gear. There is a difference with withstanding melee and gettin a hit here and there.
Maybe its just an excuse not to try to think of something else, but its 1 ways to go.
Dunno myself about to what extent gear might help, but hey, if i cant progress im farming anyway.
PFFFFFFFFT, you are mad that you get one shot with 3k armor and 107 phys resist? I'm walking around with 30k life, 6k armor and 200+ (depends on buffs) phys resist on my monk -25% damage on everything I hit and getting one shot anyway. Better thank your lucky stars that you have range on your side and that you are insanely low geared (I also am way undergeared) so you have room to improve. Sorry to break it to you but this game isn't "DPS FTW", you are going to have to sacrifice some damage for some mitigation at some point.
That entire post right there is why it needed the nerf in the first place. "guys it was hard to move everything into one area and then clear it, took me forever to clear act 2 guys". Well guess what, there isn't a class out there right now that with your level of gear can even touch Act II, deal with it.
Well the problem is: you say it yourself. You as a monk get one-shot with much more defensive stuff than I had and a 30% flat dmg reduction passive because of melee. I don't really understand what you wrote there but you actually said "you can't reduce the dmg to not one shot you, whatever your mitigation is as a dh, so just farm gear to get more mitigation and lose dps" (What?!) Are people really that narrow minded? YOU. WILL. GET. ONE-SHOT. ANYWAY! So why farm defensive gear when it doesn't help. People, please use your brain. The only thing a DH can do is run - shoot, run - shoot, run - shoot. And if there is a mob that isn't slow by nature, you are dead. You could even have the best gear possible with the best possible rolled stats there are. You could even have 60k hp, 60k dps, 6k armor and 40% dodge but if you would not dodge, you would die. That's that easy.
Seriously they nerfed 1 skill, and now the whole class is broken?
What about, accepting that it was fucking OP, change tactics, work out a new way to kill stuff instead of QQing that DH's are broken now?
Inferno is supposed to be hard, the game is a week old, metagame still going all over the place, less rage, and more trying out new skills.
The class was broken before as well seeing how the only viable defensive skill was smokescreen. That's not a valid class at all. Now it's just broken AND horrible which is worse than just broken. Most of the demon hunter skills AND passive skills are just horrible.
If only our others skills didn't suck, right? All the vit in the world can't save a dh on inferno and you can't dodge EVERY single attack no matter the player you are. Dodge is crap, when we get hit, we're getting 1 shot
Im sorry to say this, but then you really need to L2P, playing 4 man inferno team, barb + 2x dh + wiz, the DH's barely died to shit even before they started using SS. its just a matter of making better use of the skills you have, alter your build to something that YOU can play instead of copy pasta a build of the forums, try stuff out how it works for you. Thats how you learn your class, by trying things, failing, thinking about what went wrong and then try to fix that. Dont just blame it on the game becasue thats the easiest way, try finding out what YOU can do about a situation.
4 man is not the same as solo though, granted I forgot to say solo in my op but yeah. Those 2 dh have some very crucial; a barbarian to distract mobs. Get a dh to 60, try inferno solo with useless skills like caltrops and shadow power (what good is healing if you get 1 shot, regardless of gear?).
Just to clarify, I do agree that ss needed tweaking, but so do a lot of our other skills..
OMG 50% nerf on duration? Is that right? Because this is the only hability u count on to do inferno. WIthout that...GL! All clases have some kind of invulnerability, and now this nerf? No sense. Is totally needed for inferno to not get hit. With that open window gl! And if u think u have vault is nonsense because that hability is useless against champions and elit, as the slow from the traps.

You really need to learn to kite shit if you believe that crap, I kite on my monk out of necessity and make it work, you have every advantage over me in that department. Oh and btw, 6k armor and 40% dodge is low tier shit, I literally said that you are way the eff undergeared and that you WILL find stuff to help you out if you stop screaming and start grinding. I don't know why you put words into my mouth that look like they were written by a 10 year old autistic child but that is not what I said.
Balance went to the drain! Blizzard thought it would be fun to be dh, playing without getting hit by anything or you die. Very fun mechanic when this game is full of stuff that you can'T anticipate like stuff behind walls that you can't see like those tongue-smasher guys (soul rippers).

Your reference to WOW is futile attempt to move away from the problem at hand. Anyway and purely for your information, I have played WoW since its release untill approximately year ago when I have given up. I do see a relation between WoW and D3 in form of 1-shot mechanics. Problem is that while in WoW 1-shot mechanics were deliberatly designed abilities and situations where players were required to avoid such mechanic to defeat an encounter. D3 has interoduced 1-shot mechanic to every single monster starting with Inferno Act2. Not a big scary boss but every single monster you encounter. That is not my idea of difficulty.
You are also stating the very basic tactics of a ranged class, e.i. kiting, as an answer to problems people face on infrno difficulty past act1. I would assume any level 10 DH fully understand the idea of kiting and staying away from mobs. The real question is how do you do so when you can not kite or monsters are simple faster than you. The joy of facing elite pack with fast, vortex, jailor or teleport affixes!
Not a fan of the nerf, but some kind of nerf was expected.
I've only two issues with the nerf.
First - Mobs no longer stop chasing me while I'm "invisible". They magically know where I am and continue to stay right on top of me.
Second - Really only an issue because of the first, but being unable to chain the ability is highly annoying. If the mobs just wouldn't follow me I could reliably use it as a defensive escape mechanism, as it is, I can't do that so not even being able to chain it and hopefully down the mob before they down me makes me wonder if it's even worth having it or preperation on my bar anymore.

So, how far are you in the game? If you are going to say act 1 inferno then please, this is not worth discussing. Every class can easily beat act 1 inferno, even with easy kiting and without smoke screen. So the only hard thing about inferno is act 2 and up. Learn to kite you say, have you seen those little lurkers in act 2? They are under the earth half the time, just come up, jump at you and one shot you with their jump-attack. So, what do you do now as a dh? Yeah, please, show me how to kite them as you obviously think I'm that stupid and don't know how to play this game without smoke screen. I started with smoke screen in act 2 inferno myself because there was no other thing that would help me through but smoke screen - prep combo. I would even go so far and say 50% of the champion packs in act 2 inferno can not be beaten without smoke screen pre nerf. And when we get to Act 3 (well, you can't beat belial without pre nerf SS anyway but yeah, you could have already done it before the nerf), the number rises to more than 75/80%.
You have to understand the problem of the dh class. If you don't play flawless, by flawless I mean really flawless (no hit from anything at all, because 80k hits can not be "mitigated" by just more hp/armor/res unless you decide to drop too much of your dmg so you won'T be able to kill them because of your missing damage. Stop coming with the "more gear"-excuse. You have to accept the inferno design is really just broken as it is.
I think we can all agree that a lot of our skills are worthless in inferno(or most/or all) and the class needs to be tweaked. yes the nerf is lame but i didnt use smoke screen at all till the end of act 1 on inferno, ok i died alot but i got through it. and didnt pass all the packs. and i can understand that invis is awesome and made it really doable but looking for a flaw in a game and using it is asking for fixes, and not the way to play a game (I think). I am not the best player I know that for sure. but I did it so far without that, and isnt inferno supposed to be really hard??? I say less whining and more playing the game and finding ways to do it, I think we can all agree on that.
Hm you are right Baron, the wow referrence isnt quite right.
Also im not saying that im perfect, but i really think that if you really concentrate you can dodge nearly everything. Im just mostly pissed off by people bla bla bla its not possible while not trying out stuff.
Im not making progress right now anyway, im trying out kiting even more so maybe i get better at it and dodging skills in general. There are still people making progress, so im also trying to do so, since there seems to be a way, even if its near impossible

I'm on act III and have hit a wall as hard as I can possibly hit it. But that was expected, also DH having the same problem "WAS EXPECTED". Every class has this problem, it isn't just you, inferno is totally broken, its intended to be. The problem was that DH had something that un-broke inferno when other classes didn't, they simply lowered DH down to the other classes state. You have any idea how gear grinding it was to have a level 60 DH friend soloing act III inferno with only moderately better gear and no kiting what so ever?
If they lower inferno down now at some later date (after deciding that max tier gear doesn't help) then you'll be just as capable or un capable as anyone else. They even blue posted this very same statement.
