There has been quite a large influx recently of crusaders asking for help with builds, items and critiquing their play styles so any new posts on the topic will be automatically merged here. easier to have all the gear related questions in one thread to reference back to.
Ring - Since your using quite a few different sets a royal ring of grandeur would be amazing for you build, 3 set Aughilds and Ashearas will help you be tanky enough to drop your guardian set.
Since the ring is quite hard to get i'd say your easiest upgrade that would make a huge impact is bracers. switching from guardians to Ashearas will net you a whopping 15% damage to elite and 15% reduced damage + you're missing 15-20% elemental damage there. That would be an easy change that would give you a huge increase to damage.
Neck is another focus, yours is nice for 3 stats but finding one with av damage or 15% lightning in addition to those stats can really help. I myself have had pretty bad luck with necks so i can understand how hard it can be to find one even better then the one you are currently using.
Switching from hold your ground to finery will also give a nice boost on damage if your finding it easy to survive.
I just hit 70 with this guy a couple nights ago, and I got lucky with a couple drops (blade of prophecy and jekangbord). I'm looking for a holy % cdr /cc ammy but haven't had any luck at Kadala. The play style still feels really clunky which I assume is just lack of cdr. Any advice on which way I should be going, or what I'm missing?
Waiting on the last piece of Akkhan's. I tear through T4 with ease while T5 is doable but slow. Any suggestions would be more than welcome as I try and make T5 more efficient. Cuurently I am gambling shields for Jekanbord as I'd like to try out the Bs spec, occasionally I do 2-H for a chance at a holy BoP.

I think you could stand to get rid of your belt and either use a harringtons or something more offensive. You have a ton of health and honestly at lower torments it's really not needed. Granted you're lacking Vit on your gloves your helm makes up for it. Otherwise there are no changes you can really make till your next piece of akkan. When I got my 6 set, everything changed man. It's a completely different ballgame my friend!
I havent found any of the Akkhan set pieces yet, but have a blackthorne belt and boots in bag, also i wonder if there is any set gear i should craft to get into higher torments?
I would love some feedback so i could transcend into tier 4 and so on!
Just got a justinian's mercy and am having fun trying out a hammer spec that doesn't drive me crazy since the hammers follow me. Has anyone else tried this out? I was wondering if the using a ruby might be better than an emerald in this weapon? I know it sounds crazy but the hammers hit often and quick and the weapon hits quick being a 1h, I wonder if the upgraded avg dmg would be better than the crit dmg. What do you all think? Probably not but I'm curious and am debating if it's worth trying to develop the ruby for.
Edit: I was stacking holy dmg for a holy build before this so I have a lot of plus holy gear as such I was doing limitless hammers with provoke electrify its a lot of random numbers popping up very quicky for a crusader.
I'm usually the guy giving people advice about Blessed Shield builds. But reading this thread sparked my curiosity about what other who run a similar build think of how I'm doing it. Here's my armory:
I've been trying to get rid of some of the attack speed that I have, as it's really not important to this type of build. I've been thinking lately about forging it into cooldown reduction so that once I get 6pc Akkhan's (currently I have 3, 4 w/RROG) I can keep Akarat's Champion up most of the time. Also considering dropping the socket in my helm because I have almost 500k life. I can steamroll T3, comfortably do T4, and T5 if I play well and am careful.
Really hoping to get a Helm of Rule plan soon, and some luck with a better roll on my RROG (have one in bags with less than stellar rolls)
I love this thread! I am also havin some issues with gear and build . I have fotf and jekangbord right now. Im lookin for either bop or GF. I feel clunky but that's because I'm not using a wrath generator. Here is my build . I also have the aughilds and ashearas set in bank. Along with multiple other legendaries.
any help would go a long way with me . I also have no problem clearing t3 content and t4 so long as it's not single target lol .
Well for a mannercookie condem build you actually should use a BOP. Idk if you have one but you have a FOTF. With this weapon you can build an awesome T6 build too if not even a better one since you can choose the abitilties in a way that you have no need for melee range.
I don't think you have an Akkhan's 6pc but aim for it. It helps alot getting to T6.
As you are using Judgement Resolve you shouldn't stack any crit over 20%. Aim for CDR/CHD/SkillDmg/Elemental Dmg.
You could use something like this. But to use this build you actually need a Jekangbord (legendary shield). If you don't feel right with Provoke Charged Up(I would prefer it ) you could also go with Law of Valor: Critical. Reducing the cooldown of Akarat's Champion is essential as it's a giant burst cooldown. If you like this build i described ask me for more information. But since I know it's not the mannercookie build I don't want to write everything down for nothing
Wow your post is very helpful! I feel dumb never thinking about why I get CC on items when I'm using Judgement Resolved lol...
I'm currently trying to farm for Akkhan's and a Jekangbord. I would like to try out your build
@immortalem ok cool I will try to do and use what you said. I believe I screwd my fotf up though . already re rolled it to a socket. But Ill work on the other things for sure and try punish and holy cause . Thanks for your input . I'm at work right now but soon as I can I'll try that out
I usually run t2-t4 pretty smoothly on my own and in group. Save AC for groups and then just continually blow the shit out of things. I have way better pants that I use but I like the 3 set of Cains for the MF. Any gear or spec suggestions would be appreciated!
First I wouldn't recommend a Helm of Rule. BlockChance is one of the weakest stats for a Blessed Shield build, as only the first shield gains profit from BlockChance. For more about stacking BlockChance see here : http://www.diablofans.com/forums/diablo-iii-class-forums/crusader-the-church-of-zakarum/86698-the-house-of-flying-shields-support-hybrid-top-end?comment=27
Your Andarieal has pretty nice rolls. As you are aiming for a high CDR build to have almost perma Akarat's Champ I wouldn't suggest dropping the socket. Holy damage is very strong with this build and the socket will give you the ability to get 12,5% CDR which is the highest CDR part you can get (except 6pc Akkhans) in one part. Trying to get Akarat's to near perma a socket in your head can and will be very important and will free stats on other gear parts(eg ring/Amu). Idk if your weapon is already rerolled(would be insane if not). If not wait till patch and then try to get a high Holy Damage roll on it. Use Holy Cause and gain a big DPs boost and a nice healing boost(instead of hold your ground).
Nothing else that comes to my mind so far. Nice gear and give me dat gaunlets last piece missing for my 6pc XD
Thanks for your response. I was looking at the helms last night since I actually had a Helm of Rule plan drop. I'm still going to make one even if only for the sake of getting the transmog. My other considerations going into comparing it to my Andy's was the fact that I'd possibly "double-dip" with the added block chance giving both offensive and defensive benefit for one stat slot. Was trying to determine which healing passive would be more effective between Wrathful and Renewal if I obtained more block chance through Helm of Rule. I used to use Renewal when I had a 30% block chance nearly-perfectly-rolled Defender of Westmarch shield before my Jekangbord dropped, and it healed me for a shit load.
As for the mechanics of Blessed Shield, I'm about 90% certain that a blue confirmed that Blessed Shield does take into account total block chance, not just your shield's block chance. I'll have to search for it and if/when I find it, I'll edit my post and add it here.
I've been trying to decide if I should start stacking CDR now or wait until the other two Akkhan pieces drop(we all know how long that could take). The alternative idea was to try and change anything with +attack speed into resource cost reduction for now, and then once I got the 6pc set bonus, switch that resource cost reduction to CDR.
One last thing. Isn't +Elemental damage on weapons still bugged? As well as the Long Arm of the Law passive?
EDIT: So I couldn't find the blue post that I thought I saw, but I did find a different thread discussing it, and basically found out that though all of your total block chance is taken into account, it is only so for the first hit, and not all the additional bounces afterward. So while it would be a decent single-target damage increase, and more survivability, it would not be the best choice for higher AoE damage or total damage from Blessed Shield. I'm just trying to think a little outside the box here. Using Wrathful is only really effective if you have a lot of items that rolled with health globe healing bonuses. Renewal is a flat amount of healing, only dependent on how often you block. So essentially the two passives are both stat dependent but for different stats. And I'm also thinking that most of the time, the higher the torment, the higher the mob density, meaning more blocks and thus more healing. So idk, I like Renewal better. I just kind of wish my Jekangbord would've rolled with at least 22% block chance instead of the measly 16% it rolled with. =\ That Defender of Westmarch I had that had 30% block chance healed me constantly when I was using Renewal.
4th passive skill. Right now it is Finery. I used to use holy cause, but since I don't have holy damage on my weapon I realized that was pretty much a waste.
Judgement. I have 49% crit, so having that extra 80% may not really be benefitting me all that much. Would something more like Fist of Heaven be more useful here? I don't really have a wrath spender with this build/gear.
Im still looking for the remaining 4 pieces of the crusader set (just found the 2nd piece today). Also I enchanted the weapon already to get the socket, so I can't change the poison dmg to holy :(.
I was originally running a Heaven's Fury build, but I tried and tried and just could never get used to it. I strongly dislike having to aim the beam and frequently miss. Maybe when if I get the flail that enhances it, I'll try it again.
Anyway, I switched to using blessed hammers with limitless (since I have +34% holy dmg). I can clear T3 easily and T4 slowly, although single target is painfully slow. Generally, I feel like my damage is too low, but to get more I have to sacrifice so much toughness. Even with near 14 mil, I feel too squishy in T4.

Wearing pretty much the best gear I have. Have a few other items including a Votiya's, Kassar's, and a Final Witness.
Needing some help with build plus advice on what to spend my shards on. T1 is on farm, T2 can be a struggle. Any help would be appreciated!

Would like some advice on gearing if possible.
I pick up lots of items I think are good but then salvage them because I don't know if they're worth using.
