Tried out Rend instead of using Whirlwind for the common tornado build. I like it except for one thing. It stops you from moving so you can do a twist animation.
I also need a higher dps weapon since damage is based on weapon dps. 700% weapon damage with a 820 dps weapon is very different than 700% weapon damage from a 1000 dps weapon.
I took the extra range rune which helps with bigger packs.
You need WW to move through mobs, and without it the whole build is garbage.
This! Sprint tornado are your main source of dps in this build. And to place down the tornados properly you need the ww to move through mobs, and as an extra bonus you are immune to knockback during ww.
Bringing in another dps skill which requires fury seems like a waste to me.
I was doing a regular WW build, but with rend instead of berserker, and with skorn instead of dual wield. My tornado's were ticking for 22k-26k, instead of 14-16. I'd WW into the middle of mobs, then rend, then tornado and ww out. It kinda worked but fury generation wasn't as good.
I use furious charge + merceless assault instead of WW to move through packs and it feels very good.
It would reduce your damage on single target significantly for no gain.
For single target, I'll just run a full cricle, let tornado spawn and then stand on group bash, rinse and repeat. Bash after buff hit pretty good on single target now. Pre-patch I used Frenzy instead.
Im losing about 1/3 of my kill speed on siegebreaker, larder and azmodan without WW while circling around them. You have to remeber WW damage is actually pretty high and that it also returns fury on crit. Theres really no reason to use charge except if you hate whirldwind. Theres advantage for the build to use WW, none to use charger really.
Even more of a damage downgrade if you use WOTB slaughter. WW has a better proc chance per tick then tornados. Meaning you lose a good ammount of those procs. Im not saying that you cant use charge, at the end of the day once you have ok gear the only ability you cant change is battlerage and sprint... but everything you change other then remove battle shout if most likely a downgrade in term of damage and efficienty of farming.

I agree charger is a bit weaker against bosses but I think it is better against packs. It hit faster and harder than WW, large packs of white mobs just melt away in 1 or 2 charges. It is also safer and more efficient against jailor and waller, especially when it comes with some nasty groupd effect affix.normally would be a pain for WW. Given these advantages I can accept killing a boss a little slower.
It also lose value against WW on elites. Normal mobs dont matter so i wont touch that. WW has no cooldown when theres only 3 elites so it procs more life on hit then charge could, because theres no white mobs you one shot them with charge anyway.
Jailor with a runner mob like those fat shaman or sucubus are the only elite pack i need to use WOTB on. So im pretty safe as far as that go. Charge doesent bring much to the build at all, beside killing white trash 0.5 second quicker then simply running over and ignoring them while tornado does it anyway? I think WW probably is better for higher end barb but for lower end charge has it's own merits.

No such thing as "higher end barb", just different build...
If you wanna use skill such as charge, i would suggest you using something more towards crowd control (Stun, knock back kind stuff)
Charge doesn't give you much higher survivalbility, plus,it lowers your DPS up time, which imho, is kinda a useless skill. But thats me.
I hope u guys keep talking about the WW builds so I can turn attention away from my 8% LS leap/rend/charge that lets me ez mode farm III/IV while multitasking. I am scared of a hot nerf to rend damage at this point
the best thing ive done with charge is mercles strike+br into the fray + hota smash + shout + insantiy+leap. between shout+leap+short cooldown charge and 50% crit chance.... its pretty funny. dont have much dps.... and duel wielding and i can melt elites in 4 player a3 in 1 insantiy. just endless 400k smashes all over :D:DDDDDD
and yes... 2h may be superior... but i cant stand 2h weps with their slow ass mofokin attackspeed. that... and the slow attackspeed makes u quite vulernable. i feel if i had 1-2 seconds between each smash... id be dead. the consistent heals from lifesteal+smash keep me alive in most cases
