Looking at the skill calculator, Barbarian skills are divided into skills which generate fury, skills which cost fury, and the cooldowns. This immediately presents the choice of choosing lots of generating skills, and never worrying about fury, or choosing lots of spending skills, with the potential for more damage, but at the price of being starved for fury. Perhaps these will end up being sustained vs. burst type decisions.
In the end, I suppose most builds will have a primary (or two) generator and a primary (or two) spender. Whether the extra skills are builders or spenders will simply depend on the skill effect your looking for.
Anyways, already the number of main playstyles seems quite large, with many more variations possible by swapping in/out different cooldowns or similar skills for each other, then choosing traits to balance your weaknesses, etc. Add in rune effects, and oh my...
