Unity
Updated May 25th, 2016
Using Istvan's buffs to build on high IAS and CDR.
Cubed Unity + near perma-epiphany/desert shroud (~ 60% CDR) + Mantra of Salvation/Agility provide defense/resistance.
Istvan's blades, Flying Dragon, Bane of the Powerful, Pain Enhancer and Zodiac ring help max out APS and damage.
After swapping Gogok of Swiftness for Bane of the Powerful got better results using Seize the Initiative vs. Determination.
Minor tweaks to trade a little damage for toughness.
Have completed GR 70 twice now after countless attempts. Seems like I've put as much effort getting from 66 - 70 as I put into getting from 1 - 66. When a game starts feeling like a job is it still a game? ;>)

Build Guide
A perfect build simply will not work without matching high-end gear. Once you get into GR 70s you'll need almost all Ancient Legendary gear so you can boost your primary stat (Dex/Vit/Int/Str) with Caldesann's despair. That has been my experience playing a Monk anyway...
If you cubed Crudest Boots and wore Inna's boots the you could cube a Zodiac Ring. With a Zodiac you could get a lot of Mystic Ally activations.
I'll give it a try but with CDR of over 70% and several abilities on bar with cooldown I'm not sure how much it will help? Plus, if I cube Crudest Boots I'll lose Leoric's Crown IIRC, which will drop CDR to mid 60's. Or does Zodiac only affect particular abilities with the proper gear setup?
mystic ally without inna's daibo? bad idea
No doubt there is a trade off between the added damage of the Diabo and Istvan's but I've tried both and in every case Istvan's benefits were worth the decreased damage. I think some of the damage is mitigated by increased IAS but whatever the reason the difference between the Diabo and Istvans favors Istvans for me, not even close.
Not sure sure how Zodiac works but despite my sheet CDR dropping from a little over 70% to 68.65%, actual in-game CDR feels more like 90% with the Zodiac ring. I've tried this ring before and do not recall it making such a huge difference. Perhaps I wasn't also using Gogok's at the time?
I'm not sure why I ever even questioned your suggestion, you were dead on correct as usual. I just shaved almost 3 minutes off of my last GR 62 'gem levelling run' almost felt like I was in a level 50 Grift.
Seems like the item could provide a less vague description but I could care less now, Zodiac is my new best friend.
Thanks!
Zodiac reduces the cool down of a random skill that is on cool down every time you hit with a resource spender. If you are careful which skills are on cool down you can spam CS and dramatically reduce the MA cool down and the activation refills the spirit spent spamming CS. With Convention of Elements you can get the activation usually twice in a full cycle, if not more. You probably need to switch to lightning CS for the reduced cost.
Surprisingly I haven't had to switch because Mystic Ally cool-down is so drastic now I am able to refill spirit with it as long as I don't get all spastic spamming CS.
So while Zodiac does a great job of reducing cool-down of Cyclone Strike, CS loses a bit of punch without COE and my GR runs at higher levels quickly turn into "dodge the laser" since CS without COE doesn't quite pack enough punch to finish off elites as they go to town on me with their damned lasers and electrical 'tornadoes" or static or whatever it is.
So Zodiac is great for bounty/rifts, not my best option for pushing Grifts.
Of course there still exists the option of swapping RORG for Zodiac in the cube by cubing Crudest Boots in place of Leoric's Crown and then equipping Inna's boots as suggested by KhordLizardMage but I worked so damned hard at attaining ~70% CDR it hurts just thinking about it....
Just updated build and swapped out ~8% CDR for CHC and CHD. With Zodiac and Gogok equipped, Epiphany really is nearly 100% Perma now.
Finally caved and cubed Unity. I don't know why I have to learn everything the hard way. My kids are the same way :).
The damage mitigation provided by cubing Unity almost feels like cheating. This build still fundamentally hinges on the Mystic Ally activation cool down provided by Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac. If you continually spam your other spenders then the Mystic Ally activation cool down is quite drastic.
