The Big RoS Number Crunch

A great chart was posted by redditor d3agl3uk. It encompasses truly a great number of aspects of Reaper of Souls and condenses the information in a nice and readable way. It makes a few assumptions however, so do read the warnings! Check out his entire post on this link.

Legendary Mats Drop Buff Coming

The Legendary Mats that drop off specific monsters and/or places are getting a well deserved buff in their drop rates. They'll be on par with Death's Breath.

Alright, as I mentioned yesterday, we are looking into the drop rates of legenday crafting materials and it has been decided that these should be brought more in line with the drop rates of Death's Breath, which are as follows:
  • Normal - 15%
  • Hard - 18%
  • Expert - 21%
  • Master - 25%
  • Torment 1 - 31%
  • Torment 2 - 37%
  • Torment 3 - 44%
  • Torment 4 - 53%
  • Torment 5 - 64%
  • Torment 6 - 77%
These new legendary crafting materials drop rates will be implemented in an upcoming patch we're planning on releasing soon :-)

How the Rift Buff Works

A more detailed explanation was given on how the recent 25% buff on Legendary Drop rates in Rifts interacts with the old drop rates.

Great question! (I was actually looking for a good thread in which to drop this information.)

So, the 25% bonus to Legendary drops in Nephalem Rifts is multiplicative and will actually stack with the scaling Legendary drop rate bonus in Torment 1-6.

This means if you're playing through a Rift in Normal-Master, you'll have a 25% bonus to Legendary drops. If you're playing through a Rift in Torment 1, you'll have a 43% bonus to Legendary drops (1.15 * 1.25 = 1.43). If you're playing through a Rift in Torment 2, you'll have a 65% bonus to Legendary drops (1.32* 1.25 = 1.65). And so on.

Hope that helps clear some things up a bit. (Also, I really hope my math checks out. >.>)

Note that we're going to continue to keep an eye on Rifts and how rewarding they are (or, more importantly, how rewarding they feel). We've already seen some great feedback from players on that topic that we're taking a look at now. This buff is just a small change we could make quickly, and we're definitely looking forward to your feedback over the next few days.

Demonic Vessels Nerf Clarifications

The loot from the Demonic Vessels was nerfed and it actually turns out this is the way it was supposed to be from the beginning - it was intended that they'd have the loot table of vases instead of chests.

--------
It is obvious that demonic vessels do not look like vases, so I can totally understand why people are skeptical about this. But that doesn't change the fact that demonic vessels were not intended to be as rewarding as actual chests, so their loot table was changed to be on par with the loot table of vases.

Yup, feedback about the mechanical difference between vessels and vases has indeed been forwarded to the developers.
It only took 2 years to notice and fix, though. "Mistake" ;)
As unbelievable as this might seem to you, the developers are only human after all, and humans make mistakes, and sometimes it can take a lot of times before those mistakes are noticed and fixed :-(
You do realize that vases don't give any loot, right?
I can assure you that vases do give loot, just much more rarely so than chests!
The developers realise that vases are destroyed by common combat, aoe fire gone astray killing vases. If you have thunderfury (or similar I guess) vases rarely, if ever, survive you throwing abilities around.
The Demonic Vessels are clicked to be triggered and there are about 60 vases for every 1 demonic vessel.
The developers realise this indeed, and player feedback that vases and vessels feel different mechanically has been forwarded to them as well.
To make rifts and bounties attractive you need to buff rifts and bounties, not nerf overfarmed content... how hard is that to comprehend?
There are no fixed rule-sets on nerfing and buffing, especially not when you can do both to achieve a similar result, so these things always have to be evaluated on a case by case basis. Sometimes buffing is better, and sometimes nerfing is better, and sometimes doing both is what is best... In this case both nerfs AND buffs were warranted.

Reaper of Souls: Frozen Time

A great new video was posted by the great machinima artist Malu. Check out Diablo 3 from a perspective you've likely never known could exist!

Kioller's Bounty Split Farming Guide

If you're into quick runs and group play, Kioller's Bounty Split Farming Guide might just suit your taste. Its initial purpose is getting about 20 caches per hour, but now that Blizzard are giving another 50% bonus experience for the weekend, you might as well take advantage of that too!
