We did the poll awhile back and it was like 90% skillrunes. Although that was before pvp was mentioned.
Ah ok makes a lot of sense, since that's my choice also.
However I cant help thinking the "old" skill runes was way cooler.
I really liked the idea that is was the original skill you added something extra to (same skill just "larger", "faster", "more" etc). Where as the new skill rune system, sweet as it may be, seems more like a much bigger skill tree where you just have to unlock 80% of it with runes. Many of the shown skills change so damn much it doesn't even remotely remind you of the original skill i came from. Furthermore I think changing the element and purpose of the skill might make you hold back with some of the rune choices (plague of toads originally a aoe spell, add a rune and it becomes a giant ugly single target toad... this might be awesome for some people but rather crappy if you already had a single target skill and just ruining your only cluster of mob remover). I know I'm bitching about stuff I cant change here, but I really feel this is the only area they have taken a huge leap backwards.
Most of the skill runes will still work as you mentioned. Adding a mutli-shot, increase damage, adding a small effect like stun, reducing casting cost, increasing casting speed. I don't think many will have a big of change as some shown. I think they showed us these as the best of the best and most innovative.
I just saw your post on the official forums. Thought I would check it out. Overall good discussion, but I just have one suggestion.
The volume needed to be more balanced between the three guys talking.
On a scale of 1 to 10
Force - 10
Sixen - 6
ScyberDragon - 5
Ideally, all three would be the same number. Maybe in the future you guys can do a sound test before the real recording, with everyone adjusting their volume as needed.
Again good discussion, and I will follow the podcast while we all wait for beta.

Someone said blip.tv will take care of that stuff automatically for us, so i'm going to look into that a bit.
