Amid the pandemonium that was the Jace Hall Show, the wisecracks shot long-standing Diablo mysteries and criticisms surfaced for their brief moments of limelight. Following the announcement on our homepage last Tuesday, episode one has aired on IGN's website. Diablo developers entered the scene at 3:52 with Jay Wilson, complete with a plumed pirate hat.
To the dismay of Wilson, who pleaded for discussion of the mysterious fifth class, discussion was immediately drawn to the equally mysterious chat gem (see Chat Gem Through the Ages). The only logic step from there was a class entirely devoted to the chat gem, a Bard (sarcasm only- this was denied by Wilson in an interview with Game Informer last October;

see Griefing, Health Orb Mechanics and More with Jay Wilson). Regardless, the table-top conversation resumed in all its glory at 7:45, where whimsical suggestions came from the staff with inspiration from Dance Dance Revolution and Guitar Hero. After all, how could a Bard be inspired by anything less?In case the board flew by faster than your eyes could read, here's what was scribbled on the whiteboard:
UNICORN COUNT: 65
The Epic Adventures of Turd, the Barbarian
O-LIKE D2 (Like WoW)
Is it as good as WoW?
NEED MORE COLORZ!!!
However, for speculation's sake, notice that at 7:42 the gigantic cardboard cutout of none other than Diablo II: Lord of Destruction's Druid class. Could that be a hint, a coincidence, or a clever ruse?
Expect the second episode of season three, also promised to include a bit on Blizzard, sometime in the coming month. Also, keep your eyes peeled throughout February for some special articles we will be running on mods from Diablo I and Diablo II!
My thoughts exactly.
Honestly, does this surprise you? I don't like to be a downer, in fact, I rarely ever wish to look on the down side of things without making an attempt to be funny, but I have to point out the obvious and be rather unhappy about it. We know that significant progress on this game won't happen until after World of Warcraft gets its new expansion completed and put out on the shelves. If anything, this one episode has convinced me to not watch this guy ever again. All this was, in my mind, was a failed attempt to hype Diablo 3. The discussion of the whole bard thing instantaneously turned my mood sour and, IMO, was just the neutral polish on the proverbial turd.
Personally, I'm going to watch all of these new MMO games come out and try to compete with WoW and see which, if any, puts a real dent in WoW's population while I dream of playing D3. The only MMO coming out that I can see actually having a chance to do any real competition is Star Trek's MMO. Then, being the hopeful kinda guy that I am, I predict that IF any new MMO release does any significant damage to WoW, Blizzard directs all of their resources to completing Diablo 3 as a counter to this new threat.
A number of thoughts of that...
1) I'm pretty sure there's no class, or even a mix of classes, in the realm of Sanctuary that could accurately represent MJ.
2) Diablo corrupted priests in D2 and, unless you live in under a rock, we all know what priests and MJ have in common. (if you believe he didn't do it, ignore this particualr thought)
3) If Blizzard makes a pair of unique white gloves, I'm going to facepalm first and then laugh my unholy arse off quickly thereafter then give them props if MJ's family doesn't decide to sue them.
4) Bard's have already been confirmed as NOT being in D3 and, to the best of my knowledge, there are no elves in Sanctuary. These two things would have been the closest representation to MJ; in other words, you have an infinitely better chance of seeing him in The Elder Scrolls series than in Diablo.
No doubt, ;).
Yes, it was sarcasm. Everything in the show was sarcastic, everything on the whiteboard was sarcastic, and Diablo III has already been shown (and was not an MMO) and been declared to not be an MMO. It was sarcasm
I wasn't surprised to see no actual information. I was surprised to see nobody wearing the D3 rainbow t-shirt.
Yeah... Blizz's creativity is really going out the window lately.
-Witch Doctor to Diablo III
-Fury system from WoW, moved to D3
-Patch 1.13 (the text explaination was used before)
-Whiteboard gags
-Bard
I really wish they'd stop recycling ideas and come up with some new stuff.
As far as I understand it, the show is only about humor in popular media. However, the way Blizzard was stressing this made it seem like we should be expecting something interesting out of it, which I don't think we got. Okay, good humor, that's fine. It would have been nice to be a little more informed about it beforehand, though.
People from blizz allways makes the fans upset. I wonder if it's intentional or not. Because it's better don't have any infol then retarded patchs and broken promises.
Unfortunately all of his shows are like this. It really could be a good show if he would actually interview people and let the humor come naturally instead of trying so hard to be funny, staging skits that are worse than bad SNL. I want to like the show but it really feels like it's target audience is Dane Cook fans. That's great to see him wasting the time of all those Blizzard employees when they could be doing something more useful like doing real interviews or working on D3.
It would have been funnier if they had some strange looks for the female monk. Showing the 5th class as the Rainbowmancer.
When will a demo be playable?
