Dev Tracker Notes of Merit
Just to get you caught up on some important D3 info and posts in case you haven't been watching we've got the following highlights:
1. Bashiok replies to a post about possible gold sinks in Diablo 3; a few memorable notes:
"We're attempting to build a more stable economy in Diablo III, and just like Diablo II did, we will have ways to draw money out of players. If that means there will be big ticket items or not, I don't know, could be. If we want to throw out gold as much as Diablo II did we'll definitely need some better places to spend it if we want gold to be worth anything.
So it looks like we'll possibly see some enhancements to vendors, big ticket items, and other ways to "relieve" us from our gold piles! He goes on to say:
"To address the OP, we don't like the idea of binding items just because Diablo is a trading game. To take away that ease of trade but add an asterisk behind it stating "Unless you pay a lot of money", it'll just make it feel... I don't know... kind of crappy. There are better ways to go about keeping a stable economy, and whenever possible they should be on things the player finds helpful, useful, or at the very least "fun"
Some of the most promising words yet regarding the economy in D3, at least we know they will be focusing on it and taking what they learned in D2 to enhance how the market will work in D3. Great news You can read the entire post and conversation here: Money Sink Method.
2. A fan noticed that in the D3 Gameplay trailer there is a TEAL Mana orb for the Barbarian, which was a different color than the blue used for Witchdoctors. This raises a pretty obvious question if they're pooling from a different source of power, and how it will work, Bashiok answers:
"Fury is Barbarian specific. It's the only class that uses Fury as a resource pool. At the announcement at WWI it was a sort of teal color in attempts to show it wasn't mana. We were working on other colors, but just weren't really happy with the other ones worked out for it at the time of the announcement, so teal it was. At BlizzCon though it had its swirly lava-esque look. That's gone now too though, Fury has changed a bit more and we'll be talking about that before too long."
So it looks like they just didn't have time to change it; wonder if they won't be going with some kind of off orange like some of the spell colorations in game for the Barbarian in D2? Who knows! You can read the official post in its entirety here: Teal orbs?
3. Finally, we've come across a post from a user begging them to please stop releasing information - Although I think that would leave most of us with nothing to read/dream/cry/pray about, but to each his own! The conversation that ensues is pretty brutal, as you can imagine, at one point D3 is compared to a rotten sandwich at which point Bashiok finally chimes in:
"I was waiting for Diablo III to be compared to a rotten sandwich. Now I can die peacefully."
The rest of the post is a little more eventful, check it out at: No more info please
It works as following: you start with 0 fury and it fills up as you hit monsters with your basic attack (not with a special ability). When you have enough fury in your pool, you use special skills and attacks. If you stand around doing nothing, fury slowly dissipates until it's gone.
The reason behind this is to avoid Barbarians constantly spamming the best magical abilities, since the Barbarian shouldn't be a 'magical' class. That way they ensure that you actually use your weapon to hit monsters directly on the head occasionally, and not constantly spamming WW, HoTE, Leap, etc. Balance is the key. Not to mention that this will make things interesting, and tactical.
Ya....basically the same as a war in wow....at least how there rage works....should make things a lot more interesting to.....I wonder how pvp will go with barbs having to use autoattack to get ready for there big abilities while wizards and WD's can spam there big shit right off the bat.
Barb will also probably have an ability that incapacitates the oponnent for a while giving him time to charge up rage. This ability could be put on a cooldown that is long enough to not make it abused in PvE, but just perfect to open up a PvP battle. Possibilities are endless, and Blizzard knows all the tricks in the book.
I hope that when the games is released, we won't know: every class in detail, every monsters and boss that we will see in the games and every games mechanics because we won't have much new thing to discover.
The thing that blizzard need to know is when will new information past the line that separate new information and too much information
Of course, right now they are not close to that limit.
For the fury gauge I think its a nice idea for a barbarian and I don't really care about how it will look, but I hope there will be auto-generate fury in magic item.
p.s. the whirlwind skill look weak because it only do something like 25% of weapon damage.
