It’s the question asked since the beginning of time; even before Abraham turned to Jesus and said “Dude, if you could be a chick, who would you be?” (to which Jesus replied “Angelina Jolie of course. Duh.”). It’s the reason Shakespeare wrote “the Tempest”, and went on to direct “The Crying Game”. The ultimate in X and Y bending enigmas: Why do gamers choose the genders they do?
I don't understand why you need to take this harmless joke so seriously. He said nothing degrading about your religion. I'm Jewish and people make fun of my religion all the time. A kid has tagged a swazi on my curb before, but I don't let it get to me. If you think this is a degrading joke about your religion then you my friend don't know anything about religious intolerance. Its people like you that make the rest of the world so self conscious about what they say and make sure they don't hurt the feelings of some over sensitive person. I say laugh at everything and make fun of everything. Thats why i watch southpark
But I've also known girls who played female characters because they wanted people to know that they were female.
It really comes down to individual preference, and the article makes a pretty good attempt to draw out some of the archetypes.
(who’s ever heard of a male Amazon? That’d just be silly)
Nerd fact:
In reality, it is believed that the amazons were descendants of the Sarmatian people. (see the move “King Arthur”)
(hint hint blizzard)
Holy "%/$, a swastika?!?! Maybe he was a buddhist wishing you good fortune...
And yeah, that guy you quoted: He does have a point but he overreacted. He just needs to get a thick skin because as long as there's a fair amount of self-labelled Christians who don't act Christian at all there's going to be people pissed off/making fun of them. (and I think that was more of a cultural joke) And it's not okay to be openly racist most of the time on the net, but that's about it really... everything else is fair game most of the time.
For example, just because you kill demons in a game, does that mean you'd do the same in real life? Nah, you'd die in act 1 in real life. So why stop there? Why not have a little fun roleplaying?
Plus, it makes a good cover story. "I'm not really a pervert. I just play one. Wanna come hang out sometime? In my basement?"
=/
.
I like to think of myself as a protector/perv. I mean really, who wants to stare at man-ass all day (even if they are just pixels)?
