Thanks, Jugzor“We also tried to focus a little more on bringing characters back, and not just from ‘Diablo II’ but from ‘Diablo I,’” he said. “We feel like a lot of the focus is on ‘Diablo II’ but ‘Diablo I’ started it all and has a lot of really good stuff on the gameplay side and on the character side. So people can expect to see characters from ‘Diablo I,’ more characters from ‘Diablo II,’ and characters from some of the books. We’re definitely going to bring a few of them in.”
this article says it will be something different

it does take much money to have so many employees. And theres not just 1/server on each shift. Now count how many servers there are worldwide and do the maths. Even with the minimum possible wages its alot of money. To keep the servers maintained costs also alot of money. They simply must have good service and as low latency as possible because we pay them to.
And as a sidenote on the code development, Blizzard games are the best developed so far. a 56k line managed to hold 3 computers with WoW running without lag (unless you were in major cities). Thats what we're paying for.
right, the people that moderate everything arent moderating for hacks. They're overlooking the chat mostly for harassment (or to keep the conversations RP on the roleplay servers). And of course to help the users with whatever problems they may have. The programming of the game apparently worked and works just fine.
the Diablo single-player series, yes, has been a fast paced action rpg. But the Warcraft series was a RTS series too before WoW helped the franchise evolve. And there will be a Warcraft 4 i'm sure about that.
Now the arguement about what Diablo was made for isnt that valid. It wasnt made for people that dont have time to spend on games. It was made to make people have fun with it. Just as WoW. And just like that it did. We spent thousands of hours with Diablo and Diablo II. Made many characters level over 90 (some even several 99ers) kept doing mf runs, making characters to check new specs (since we had to make other chars to check another spec) and doing pvp. Thats about the same you do on WoW. Only that WoW has something for the most hardcore players that makes (or made us that quit raiding) us feel its worth staying. It takes more time but thats why its for the most hardcore players.
And they released that Warden with v1.11, right? How faster would that have been developed if someone paid for the security fixes? With the free online service you couldnt demand such fixes. When they added it people were grateful. In MMORPGs we demand those things. And usually we're safer from the start.
isnt hack & slash RPG with MMORPG very different too? If not, why are you complaining about how different a MMORPG in the Diablo setting would be?
Don't get me wrong, I love wow, but I do find 1 on 1 bosses more epic than the 40 man encounters for the reasons mentioned.
This immediately made me think of Adria, she was an awesome mysterious character who could be explored in much greater depth. Adding weight to the idea that she will make a return is that in Dekard Cain's journal on the D3 website he mentions her specifically, like the devs are casually reminding old players and introducing new ones to the character. Exciting!
Wonder if we will here more from Ormus and that assassin who was watching him in Kurast?
Who is left then? I think we can all assume that Wirt is dead unless his torso is hopping around. Griswold is obviously gone, so by my reckoning that leaves Farnham, Gillian (yawn) and Peppin. Unless their corpses were also in Diablo 2? Really has been too long hehe.
I suppose they could bring some of the non town characters back as well. Wouldn't mind Lachdanan, that guy was cool (though scared the shit out of me the first time I saw him, thought he was some crazy boss haha).
I would cry tears of joy if Gharbad the Weak was in it, though seeing as you kill him I suppose that's as likely as the Butcher returning...
Also, I don't think any one has mentioned lachdannon, the knight in hell that gives you his helm. I wish he would come back, I miss him.
Edit: Ok, he was just mentioned above, just missed it.
well since Wirt's penis is a mace in WoW
perhaps they will return him to his former glory to reconcile with what they did to the diablo team
