Thanks, dkreger"Diablo is a game you play for, hopefully, hundreds of hours, and one of the rewards is a variety of different-looking environments." People looking back on old Diablo, he said, may have a selective memory. "People remember the Act I dungeons... but they kind of conveniently forget the green fields of Act I, and all of Act II... and it's palaces, its bright deserts."
This is the kind of stuff I personally like to hear, because it's absolutely true. One of the things that has always set Blizzard apart from other gaming companies is that they are both great storytellers AND great at creating games. The idea of starting out in a more serene area and the game slowly sinking further into the depths of hell as time goes by sounds great to me.
Seriously, did he even read the fucking petition. I DONT THINK HE DID. Diablo did not look like a fucking cartoon with rainbows. TELL ME WHERE THERE WAS 4 RAINBOWS in ONE place in act 1 or 2 with cartoony fucking style art? What a asshole. Like seriously buddy, get a FUCKING clue. Color is good, Just not when you go overboard into the land of fucking Barney with your cartoon-shit textures and paintings and insanely large blue/green TINT that eats your screen alive. If that guy was standing infront of me i'd fuckin deck him. Act 2 was one of my favorite acts, and it was probably the brightest. So why am i pissed off to the point of breaking my monitor? Because this is BULLSHIT. Thier god damn WoW art style SUCKS with how much color they put into it. If it was more realistic looking, and i dont mean high pixelated graphics i mean pure art style, then i dont even think half the petition would have signed the damn thing in the first place!~ THIS is what happens when you bring someone that has a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT ART STYLE AKA Lead artist designers from WoW that is CARTOONY, into art styling a fucking realistic game that IS DIABLO. The only possible way I can calm down right now is either breaking my monitor, or throwing in another 5 year old tantrum. So here it is, fuck you big time blizzard. Go fuck yourselves.
This is what this asshole says. And what's so bad about drawing some comparisons to the hugely-successful WoW, anyway? "We definitely learn from all our games," said Wilson. "We don't say, 'oh, we don't want to do anything those games did' — it's all Blizzard, we're all a family. WoW pulled stuff from Diablo II... if we think it's a smart choice, we try to pull stuff from them. We don't really worry about whether it's different. What matters is, does it make the gameplay better? That always wins." THAT IS A QUOTE FROM THE ARTICLE
So let me say this mother fucker. You pulled stuff from Diablo 2, and did the game look or feel like diablo 2?!?!?!? HELL NO DUMBASS. You practically PULLED WoW OUT of its realm and SHOVED it up diablo 3's ASS. Seriously this guys statements are going to make me not BUY another fucking blizzard game ever again.
"Diablo can do a lot of things WoW can't even do," Kaplan said. "We can't do the level of violence that they can do in Diablo III; we would lose our rating if we do the things that Diablo III does. They have a much darker vibe."
Rofl. so your saying if you take the violence out, then it would be WoW. What a jackass. Man fuck you and your dog.
"If we're actually making the game worse with no other reason than to be different from WoW, then it's a bad choice. We don't think, when people play, that they'll have any problem telling that it's a different game."
YOU JUST FUCKING MADE THE diablo franchise 10 fucking TIMES worse by not making it different from WoW!!!! Not only did you make diablo 3 SUCK ass now you greedy piece of shit. But you just totally fucked your company up the ass aswell, anyone who isnt a total dumbass can see there only in it to make money nowdays off of anything WoW related instead of making GREAT games like they used to, WHICH WERE DIFFERENT AND REFRESHING FROM EACHOTHER!! WoW COMPLETELY changed blizzard. SCrew this shit. I AM DONE WITH BLIZZARD.
I remember having problems with D1 in the regard that identification was difficult - even with a good light radius, which could be disastrous to your character. I would rather have a colored world than a greyscale world any day. Quick identification depends on color variations. I want to be able to tell things apart without having to strain my eyes so much. Though some strain is good for the adrenalin flow.
Storms can grey the skies and cast shadows to alter effects, perhaps when tripped by a quest goal, task completion, or other trigger - like the darkness that was cast over Lut Gohlein after you were in the Far Oasis for a bit.
To reiterate myself, there is a lot that goes into the posture/feel of a game. Graphics are only a part of it. But D2 does have a lot of color in it that people are intentionally ignoring.
I will keep my faith that Blizzard will put out a D3 that makes it worthy of the long, long wait, and I think the graphics will fit the mood of the moment and the environment that they are supposed to portray.
Diablo 2 looked realistic?
It's funny...
I've stood in front of a set of falls where there were 3 small rainbows caused by the way the light was striking the different sprays of mist from the heavy flow of water caused by the snowmelt. Yet a Grizzly, seeking to have me for lunch, trapping me between himself and the edge of the cliff, assuring me that I need to choose which way I would rather die, jerks my attention completely away from those mystical rainbows of beauty and color.
I saw a little in the graphics that I was unhappy with; but overall, I don't see that the colors are quite as detrimental to the game as some seem to think. I didn't see Barney or Rainbow Bright in the video or any of the artwork. Accusing the graphics of such a feat really seems to be stretching things.
What's not so funny is...
that you say you would deck this guy if he was standing in front of you.
Diablo 3 is a spitting imagine of WoW, there are no ifs ands or buts about it.
I don't know where you can come off saying D3 is a spitting image of WoW...how much of the game have you actually played?! It doesn't look anything like WoW at all. If the engine is in any way related to the WoW engine it has been largely reworked.
I just watched the gameplay video again just to make sure that I am not relying on false memories and the only thing I saw that made me think of WoW was the floating numbers. Everything else made me think more of Diablo 1 and 2 with a graphical overhaul.
that sounds incredible!
They can have color, they can even have rainbows IF there arn't any zombies or monsters. Now that was merely a made of map for the demo so who knows if any of that is staying, hopefully Blizzard looks at their demo and goes..."Oh shit we are retarded why are their tons of monsters in Whinnie the poohs field? Im sorry boss must of taken that map from WoW ill just add more rabbits and a buttfucking cow in there and toss that back into WoW."
Bottom line, take what you want from WoW just not the art style, its simply not Diablo. Take all the color you want, just make it make sense and true to its foundation. Devs can try and argue all they want about the colors in the past 2 games...and hell Act 2 as bright as they claim it to be still had a dark feel to it. Dont even get me started on the BLOOD MOOR, which is supposed to be the Whinnie the pooh field in Diablo 2....see anything similar to those? Show me the rainbows in the Blood Moor dev buddy show me.
Its called 'contrast'. Clearly those nasty creatures don't belong in that world - you must destroy them, eradicate them from your beautiful land. I think the psychological aspects of the colour work very well. If they didn't work well, you wouldn't be complaining that those evils don't belong there.
But how do you know that the pond was previously serene, or that the statue was once beautiful, or that the cross was once glorifying, if you never see it that way?
My god this guy deserve a ban for being a whiney stupid exagerated crazy prick
mister Jay Wilson You are correct and i cant wait to play diablo 3
the more i hear about this game the more i wanna play it
Then whats the difference between a beautiful rosebush with a corpse in it and a beautiful field with multiple corpses walking around it?
And now this!

LOL this is brilliant, I have to add this to my sig lol
If you watched the official starcraft2 forums when sc2 was announced, the very same argument appeared, everyone thought the game looked too cartoony, and that it wasn't staying true to starcraft1's more realistic theme. And believe it or not, Blizzard actually listened and made the game a little more grittier and realistic, and now it looks like crap.
I had thought the whole graphics argument had settled. Or at least, I was expecting the current art-direction's nay-sayers to give it a rest already. I was wrong
You can argue that the reason they're complaining is because they're concerned about the quality of the finished product. But all this bickering is becoming ridiculous; it seems more like they want Diablo 3 to be a bad game. Go figure.
I think I'll retreat once more and simply wait for Diablo 3's arrival.
