PCG podcast #139 (entitled Bugged) has revealed that Diablo III is the next cover story of PC Gamer magazine at newsstands. Apparently there will be new art revealed in this magazine, a Q&A with the Lead Art Director, and possibly an interview with Mike Morhaime (Blizzard president). It's mentioned after 7:00 of the podcast, and they also talk about the online petition. www.pcgamerpodcast.com
"Diablo III will be in the cover of our PC Gamer October 2008 issue, on newsstands by August 19th."
July 3rd, 2008 at 7:06 pm That petition is a freakin’ joke. Not dark and gorey enough? Did these people watch the game play video where the Siege Beast bites the player in half and leaves the entrails on his face? and that Tomb in the beginning was pretty damn dark. I’m sorry, I played Diablo 2 and 1 and these people are whining about a game they haven’t even seen 1% of. Blizzard is going to deliver regardless of this petition. What an asshole.
Why does everyone keep trying to discredit someone's opinions?
If they don't like it then they should just leave it at that.
No need to flame. lol
I like the petition, not because I'm in favor of it.. but because it lets people think they have a say in what's going on.
Whether they do or not.. that's up for debate, but it gives them hope.
>.<
Blizzard will provide what they think is right.
That's their job as a game company.. they need to know what works in a game that THEY are making.
Its normaly a couple of months or half a year at times, im expecting the game to be out early 2009, they might go for a christmas release but i doubt it.

It will rock.
Period.
HEY THERE, NAME LOOK FAMILIAR? Seems like someones being a hypocrite? Why not leave my opinion to myself as well then? hm? I mean sure the people are entitled to there opinion with the petition, so therefore I'm entitled to my opinion that the petition is ridiculous. edit: @eldius: Why are they arrogant? Because they counter your opinion with valid points? The former EIC Greg Vederman, The biggest diablo fan ever, thinks its a stupid petition.
Well, to put it bluntly, they acted like **** and basically spat in the faces of everyone who addressed key points of concern through their signing of that petition. Secondly, why should we care about what Greg Vederman thinks? Biggest Diablo fan? I doubt it.
I think they pretty much apologized at the end of the Diablo 3 bit but w/e. And I think a former EIC of the Best selling PC gaming magazine on the planet may have a valid opinion people might want to listen to? And, fine then you show me the Biggest Diablo fan because it sure as hell isn't anyone on that petition.
Wow, you guys want to start an argument over anything, they were fairly neutral apart from some stupid comments mainly by Kristen. They didn't "pwn" anyone, they even agreed that they could see why the fans of the original games could possibly be unhappy with the change in direction and AGREED that it was influenced by WoW probably to attract a wider audience. I don't see the problem with the podcast and don't think they were being particularly arrogant or condescending.

Kristen did say some stupid things in there like, "Diablo 2 had a story?" and things like that. But overall I think it was pretty much neutral.
hey douchebags, when is next month's issue coming out?
Why do I think you're 12? Cause thats how the 12 year old kids in my school talk like and act like. They think its cool.
Anyways on topic. IMO the petition really isn't necessary. As people have said before, there were just too little areas shown to conclude what Diablo III is like.
And for me, I'm going off to Uni in about 2 years. I don't want blizzard to revamp the whole thing because some Diablo fans thought the game wasn't gory (when it clearly was, much more gory than the previous 2) or dark enough. Its about the gameplay. Did you know that tons of games released by blizzard were far behind in terms of graphics, but still dominated the market? A perfect exampel is SC. They graphics were pretty bad, but the game was seriously amazing.
You know we should be happy the game is even announced. They could've just left the Diablo fans for another year so that more hype goes to WoW and SC2. The only reason people complain is because the models are similar to WoW (SC 2 is similar to WoW as well graphically). If Diablo III offers good gameplay, I'm fine with that. The new look actually fits the "future" a lot more, and I mean game future. It has been pretty demonless for 20 years, so I don't expect the place to stay dark as hell.
Edit by Medievaldragon: Guys, just a reminder. The moderators also have the right to express themselves, and they don't voice it posting in this thread. They voice their point of view with the ban-stick. If some people love the loose tongue to call others kids, idiot, etc. you are openly in violation of the DiabloFans forum etiquette.
Don't complain if your forum posting privileges are removed either with temp-ban or perma-ban.

The petition isn't necessarily hurting anything, either. Personally, I have no problem with the colors, but even though I only agree with one point of the list of demands (return of the light radius), I think now is the perfect time for fans to tell Blizzard what they want to see.
It's very possible that:
They could be working on an unfinished light radius.
They may have intentionally removed a light radius to show off more of the game - since it was an announcement video!
They could be intentionally making the starting zones bright and pretty to make the coming zones look especially horrific in comparison.
We know nothing about the current or intended state of the game - all we were given was an announcement video showing only two areas - but we know what we want to see.
The game won't be coming out for a while, and any major disagreement with the public has plenty of time to be addressed.

I'm really appalled at how people use this line over and over. Blizzard wants to please fans (it's in their financial interest), and these issues aren't exactly required for capturing a broader audience. Diablo can easily have its own artstyle and still be just as successful.
The game is clearly being created to recapture the success of Diablo 2 and welcome back the D2 audience. Changing the artstyle to please the target audience is obviously something Blizzard should want to do.

I also don't agree with the statement about the setting. That logic doesn't apply to either of the previous games - hell wasn't roaming earth for 20 years in either one.
Unless you're referring only to D3 starting areas, the game should feature a dark experience.
Diablo games are dungeon crawlers, which are supposed to be dark and frightening.
It's not much of a dungeon crawler if you see everything coming at you - and they knew that for the first two games.

How long after a game is "cover story" before it gets released? Average time!
Forget about this being Blizzard - I just want to see some numbers!
haha very nice.

really... it's not your game, so just shut up...if you don't like it, don't buy it.
One of the dumber things ever said
care to explain to me why its "dumb" ?
it's simply my opinion. i didn't sign the "petition" and that was my right.
but please explain why it's dumb.

your never going to get an answer if you insult people. i suggest you show more respect.
a simple google search will tell you...
good luck, and no one tell him when let the kid read.
