No Diablo 3 at ActivisionBlizzard 2008 Non-E3 Press Conference LIVE
Two months ago, on May Activision and Vivendi Games/Blizzard had announced their membership cancellation from the ESA, basically pulling off E3 as well. Suddenly, in recent hours it was announced a ActivisionBlizzard press conference would take place today in the evening. As Gamespot, IGN and Kotaku's auto-updated blogs said, the press conference just ended with the Neversoft Band playing onstage. It is quietly disappointing to not have seen Blizzard up there to promote Wrath of the Lich King and Starcraft 2, or at least play the Diablo III Teaser. The ActivisionBlizzard press conference has wrapped up without any Blizzard game.

Gotta love how Gamespot and IGN are updating the live blog every two minutes. Right now ex-Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker to play out the drums kit for Guitar Hero World Tour. I can imagine Blizzard will come to stage at some point. ActivisionBlizzard is stealing the freaking E3 show Press and attention big time!

Gamespot has a reporter at E3 streaming a Live blog that auto-updates your page with new info from the floor at a restaurant near E3 where ActivisionBlizzard is holding a press conference with a massive screen. A lot of Activision games have been showcased already. We are awaiting any news from Blizzard Entertainment games. Specially Diablo 3 or the unannounced Next-Gen MMO. It is unknown whether the unannounced game might be revealed here however.
We will update anything new that is reported by Gamespot and other websites. For now, if you wish to stand alert, visit the Live Gamespot E3 Watch blog. Your page will auto-reload showing new updates every few minutes.
Thus far they have shown the latest Wolverine Film game, Guitar Hero's latest game,
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2: Fusion, a simultaneous James Bond game/film release, and Spiderman: Web of Shadows trailers. With ActivisionBlizzard'a merger complete last week, this being their first Press Conference, and Blizzard Entertainment being the main jewel in said merger, that means there is a great chance a Blizzard game video or press panel could roll there at the end of the press conference.
And lame But whatever, blizz wouldn't show more until more was ready anyway, probably.
2 games at WWI, never before
changing the art direction so kids QQ
blizzard is fucking crazy, maybe it is WoS at e3 and World of Diablo at blizzcon
have you not played broodwar? one of the first things you do as the queen of blades is get them back under your control
and who said they need to be full on zerg
as I recall, zerg/toss hybrid at the end of bw, I am sure they have free will
and who is to say a celebrate isn't controlling your character? and you just think it is you doing the movement...
blizzard isn't above changing lore, remember that
Also it's now offical that xbox 360 is going casual to try to face the wii, so sad.
they would just say it as if its nothing too... lol xD I could see a revolution start over that.
anyways back down to earth here, I do wish they atleast reveal one more class, we dont want any videos, at least the class concept
So, according to you... Diablo III will start to fade away between 0-1 years after it's release (providing it's released in '09) ?
I only find it weird that Activision even held a press conference considering that both Activision and Blizzard had dropped out of the ESA.
IMHO it doesn't really matter because I could care less about E3. It sucked ever since they made it more "efficient". So who really cares.
They also keep everything under raps alot which is also frustrating lol
Doom3 was bad game thats why it was dissapointing. Hey we waited diablo3 announcement for at least 5 years we should easily be able to wait the release for 1 -2 years. You are pretty unpatient if you can't wait ½ a year.
Well in anyways SC 2 will come before D3. IIRC Bashiok said something about battlenet 2 coming with sc2. And if sc2 is end of this year or early next year I don't see d3 fitting into this year also.
You ever see a movie hyped to hell and back? You remember when you were disappointed?
You ever have people tellin' you about a gift or surprise they got you, how much you're going to love it?
You remember how you just only liked it?
When you expect a lot, but you only just get more... it isn't the same.
Blizzard has better make Diablo III so good that they can't possibly make any games in the future because they will dim in comparison. Basically, ruining their career by making Diablo III so good.
Same for SC2. When you wait, and you hype, and you suspense, you expect it to be for a good reason.
That's why I always watch movies expecting them to suck ass. They're always better.
All this waiting is ridiculous. For what? Everyone to run to the stores immediately?
Do you know why? The past 5 years, every PC and console game has been - "I'll wait for my buddy to buy it and see if I like it at his place."
Blizz wants people simultaneously rushing for the stores, so that even if you hate it, you've still bought it.
I'd bet some money they're either already done or so close it's a joke.
It's being a traitor in a way, waiting just for the intent on maximizing potential profit.
I've grown extremely tired in only a few weeks of waiting.
One 20 minute video, some vague posts by Bashiok on nothing short of minor and insignificant...
and we're to expect to wait another 6 months just to hear some more hype only to wait longer?
Ridiculous. All the reading I went through, all the context clues, basically all the fuck ups they made in covering their tracks have dropped serious clues to anyone specializing in documents that Diablo III is very near complete. Whether that means staff debates on the definition of complete, or a lot of staff taking vacation reducing manpower by 20 strong, or by proof-reading, AKA "polishing" it over, whether those are reasons for all of this unnecessary waiting... there is no doubt in my mind they are close.
Act I being finished, of which if is true that with 5.5 years, they must have a few more.
All heroes finished.
Content all that is left.
Complex compound-clues needing connection between various and far spread, seemingly unrelated articles and lores.
NPCs confidently placed in the storyline, meaning unless second guesses arise, their role in the plot is already complete.
As a matter of fact, I wouldn't be surprised if all of this announcing was to wait for all the bitching and admiring, to gauge what needs improvement to further the satiation of admirers, and to accommodate those that are unhappy. What I mean is, I wouldn't be surprised if they are finished in their eyes, but just making sure the fans agree - giving us time to come up with ideas that we naturally need time to come up with, and then releasing the game.
I see absolutely nothing wrong with that. In fact, I'd be impressed if Blizzard intended to implement fan suggestions into Diablo 3.
Polishing can take a long time. Why do you think Blizzard's games are so famous. They don't particularly innovate or add new mechanics to their various genres. They're famous because Blizzard takes the time to make games that are very fun, extremely well balanced and polished to perfection so that they have less bugs than several other games combined.
Although, in all fairness, D3 does look like a pretty innovative RPG, from what I've seen so far.
i still am confused though - why did activision show games and not Blizzard?
