Yeah, I think you guys hit the nail.
We’re setting out to create unique, interesting, and diverse classes that each have their own style and flavor. Most importantly this isn’t just a basic look at each individual class, but how they compare to each other and overlap (or hopefully, don’t).
When you up the number of classes more and more you’re eventually going to begin down the route of homogenization, they start to bleed into each other’s core abilities and styles which really just detracts from each individual class’ recognizability and distinction within the game.
In addition, by limiting the number - and I say limiting not because it’s a low number, it’s the number of classes in Diablo II and a good one at that, but because we’re not going crazy with it - we can focus on making each class really impressive, both visually and through the way they each feel and play.
I dont know why people hate this so much...-_-'.. all i know is i want that kind of items in d3 and skills that items can only give and not class skills but skills that you get only if you have the item. and if you people dont like the items find some thing else and dont use the times that gives skills....-_-'
I agree with those that don't like the WitchDoctor... especially if he/she is forever stuck wearing feathers.
The Rogue/Amazon seems unnecessary if you have a Barbarian and Paladin. I would much rather have an Assassin.
I'm OK with a Paladin class, but don't really want angels, nor do I particularly like the name Seraph. Speaking of names....
I don't like the name WitchDoctor either. What I'd like D3 to allow is for us to choose the name of our class and for that to show up in BNet or single player. I'd like to see a range of possible titles - probably depending on gender, but maybe that's a bit too parochial, out of millions of gamers out there there has to be at lease one or two TG folks who would prefer to choose a male title with female character or vice versa. So, Blizzard programmers, please don't assign names to the classes, let us choose what we want our character to be called.
For example, we could choose: magus, wizard, warlock, sorcerer, mage, magician, conjurer, wise man, wise woman, sorceress, witch, spell binder, spell caster, etc.
Then we could have a barbarian, viking, marauder, figher, amazon, harpy, mongol, etc.
And a thief, assassin, ninja, shadow, trapmaster, trickster, silent knife, etc.
And a paladin, guardian, crusader, defender, protector, vengance, etc.
And because we're stuck with the witchdoctor (when I would much rather have the necormancer or druid both of whom I think will get dropped in favor of the WD), we could have a wise man, wise woman (yes overlap possible wth magus character unless the developers think that's a bad idea), shaman, medicine man, herbalist, hedge wizard, vodoo priest, vodoo priestess, cultist, summoner, etc.
Please stop the constant animation on Diablo 3 character classes pages. The barbarian looks like he is hyperventilating and the witch doctor looks like either either has Parkinson's disease or is really coked up and can't stand still.
ya i want the old bar anime where he is sharpening his axe and goes errrrrrrrrr i want that bar anime in d3 be similar to that of d2 in terms of showing his power, in d3 bar anime looks so similar to druids anime in d2....wtf
Didn't you know? All the tribes in Diablo universe use coke!!
Go witch doctor, I actually like him now, lol, if I can play as a drugged out crack head!!
QUICK someone make a gif of the witchdoctor with the Dave Chappelle crack head on it!!!!
I would but the laziness strikes again...
So, I hope they make Lances good for Barbs again. I want a Lance ww barb like I had in classic all those years ago. I really don't like the way dual wielding looks... and I don't like axes or mauls either, I'm a sword and lance barb all the way, hope we get some D3 barb videos with barb using those kind of weapons soon
A lot of people want the Necromancer back because of the impact they had on the lore of the world. The novels shed a lot of light on Necromancers as a group and truely explain them, in a way the game simply doesn't. Then there are of course Druid and Assassin fanboys out there that want those two classes back simply because they love them.
I'm not sure you can actually back up the fact that "the necro is the weakest of the original five classes."
All of them have their strengths and weakness, but the Necro stood out as a class that could not only dish out decent spell damage (after the synergy patch), but can also spec in the summon tree and make an army that can solo Hell Diablo and Hell Baal. To top that off they were given curses to completely cripple their enemies. So... lets not say the necro suck. Hell, they're probably the most well rounded class in Diablo 2 now after all is said and done. Plus they've got really the only mass debuffs. Pretty spiffy.
As for Paladins making a return? Probably not in their original form. I do see them being renamed "Knight of Zakarum" or simply "Knight" and being a holy crusader with more focus on their protective and group aura magics and less on the "Zeal" line, which in my opinion didn't really show the true colors of the Knights of Zakarum. They can't completely axe the paladin concept without replacing it. It was a vital support/defensive melee class.
I don't see Amazons coming back as Amazons. They were monster DPS dealers, but had little to no connection to the Diablo Lore and I can easily see them being replaced by a "Rogue" stylized who specializes in stealth and bow combat. Honestly this is the hardest one to figure. Who knows what they'll put here... or maybe they'll just keep the amazon and completely rebuild her. Who knows!
And the Sorceress? I bet they completely remake the class, since the sorceress in Diablo 2 was a member of a rebellious female sorcerer coven who defied the ways of the Eastern Clans and their Male Sorcerers. I bet the class is completely re-built. With each different spell tree focusing on completely different things, as opposed to D2 Sorc which has each line dealing damage but applying different status effects. I'm betting the D3 Sorc has a pure damage line, a buffing line (like Enchant only lots of different ways and types) and a pure debuffing line. Replacing the necromancers "Debuff curses" such as Decrepify and Amplify Damage.
The zombie wall? It's cool and I bet it will be a good ability, but I doubt it will be nearly as powerful as they elude it to be in the demo. I bet it will be like Bone Wall + Wall of Fire and will only do minor damage allowing you time to throw in spells. I don't think they're going to make it do a good amount of damage itself.
Anyways... yeah it looks like the Necromancer won't be coming back, but it ties into the novels pretty well (go read them... they're actually pretty good and they explain a lot of the Diablo Lore) as does the addition of the witch doctor, which explains in a lot of ways an entire group of people in the diablo universe that have yet to be represented.
Amen brother.
Now what do I personally think of the new "Witch Doctor"? I thought it was an epileptic person with a halloween mask on. no insult intended but geeeezus ! maybe the female version is little better ?
I think they could do a lot with that class, since it's the coolest. xD
I like those characters who are mysterious and brutal, where their motives
aren't typical. I can see good content with that.
You know what would be sweet? If they had a class that was like.. half demon, half human.
Like some of his body is all messed up. I doubt they'd ever do this though, lol.
Blizzard has liked to break the trend at times but also stick to the classic recipe which is more along the lines for the Diablo franchise so regardless of what names Blizzard chooses, this will probably be the line up.
ive said it before and ill say it again the way you guys talk about the other three unrevealed classes is just plain boreing. bringing back the amazon and sorc, thats boreing. i think blizzard has 2 more completly different classes they will release and one more class from d2. the paladin or some kind of holy knight. amazon = gone, sorc = gone. of course there will be a heavy fragile castor but it willl not be anything like the sorc. blizzard has already said only 2 classes will be carried from D2
im starting to think that half of you should just stick with D2 forever. bitching about wanting all the classes to return. THATS BOREING. i want new completly different chars to play
o.O
Lite fury, Charged strike, huge passives: They could take out many monsters fast.
Amazons pwned... Lots of survivability, huge damage. Nuff said.
And sorcs were only boring because of Enigma. Without Enigma sorcs had a huge role. Also, the sorc has the single highest variety of damage types. From ice, to lite, to fire. The sorcerress was also the best at taking down monsters with huge hp via static.
Just because you dont like ranged characters doesn't mean they suck or they are boring. rofl.
