A rep from Blizzard just sent me notice that there would be no more announcements at BlizzCon tomorrow (Saturday), so for those of you (ie: all of you) who were hoping that this would be the day that Diablo 3 was finally confirmed, I'm sorry to inform you that you'll have to continue to wait. We all know that it's eventually coming, but the waiting for the official confirmation of the third game along with some idea of what it will be like is a really hard thing to wait for. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I figured it would be best to tell you about this now rather than have you guys waiting around all day Saturday hoping that we'd hear more about Diablo 3. Thanks for sticking with us though... Blizzard is listening to us and sooner or later (ok, later) Diablo 3 will become a reality.
In other Blizzard-related news, the rep just sent me word that our own Umaro participated in the first-ever Starcraft II tournament with Loc Teinh (from w3roc.com) on his team and won in the first round, but they were unfortunately defeated in round 2 by TeamLiquid. The overall winner of the tournament was TeamLiquid who were then given the opportunity to play Karune and Stephen Chang from the eSports team. TeamLiquid wasn't able to defeat them though. Unfortunately there's no replay video footage from this tournament, but maybe that will change later on.
More news as it becomes available.
Sad Diablo indeed. (thanks to Zabadak for sharing this image with us)
brutus, i am sorry, but Slayer is a copyrighted title of those who are in SLAYERS. the name SLAYERS is also copyrighted for SLAYERS. either you work hard to enter SLAYERS, or copy this to your signature. it must be copied as is.
man oh man I cannot believe the life in this one thread ALONE. 138 pages of posts. You would think that this alone would prove to Blizzard that Diablo fans are alive and well and chomping at the BIT for a new Diablo game. Another thing that REALLY sucks is waiting SO long between books in the damned Sin War trilogy. I was totally stoked when they finally answered my prayers with a Sin War story only to have to wait what a year between books 2 and 3? I realize that Mr. Knaak is a busy busy man, but I just don't think the books should have been released so damned far apart. But the people I really feel sorry for are the Starcraft fans. I mean look how long THEY had to wait just for part II. I mean the first Starcraft was released in the DOS years. At least we got a Diablo 2 sometime during the Windows years.

I feel Blizzard is well aware of the number of dedicated Diablo fans.

That's a pretty average time between sequels for books. I've actually been reading the second Sin War book so slowly that I'm still on it after having started it months ago. I just read it a little bit each night before I go to bed.

I'm among one of those Starcraft fans. But I feel the wait is going to be worth it.
maybe you guys are right, but it seems that books 1 and 2 were released rather quickly with a HUUUUUUUUUUGE delay to book 3. I read them voraciously when they came out, so it just seems SO long till November. And as for Diablo 3, my theory (and please don't flame) is this: we all know that piracy is a problem for revenues. Every new game that comes out gets cracked in some way, so I think that Blizzard is going to see how Starcraft 2 sells as a standalone game. If it tanks because everybody just downloads it, we won't see Diablo 3 until WoW wears out, at which point, Diablo 3 will be the next pay-to-play franchise. And I'm not sure it's a bad business plan, would we rather have a single game, or how much fun would a constantly updated pay to play Diablo universe game be? My only objection to this is that you still have to pay 50 bucks for each and every expansion for WoW, so just to go out and get started in the game costs you $150 for the game and two expansions, PLUS a monthly fee. The expansions should be free. A pay to play Diablo 3 wouldn't be so bad if there were regular expansions/updates included for your monthly dollars and devotion.
I would too, but it seems the only way that game companies can keep piracy from ruining sales. WoW gets tons of great new content all the time. I'm actually excited about a constantly freshened Diablo universe. But they need to stop charging for expansions.
i would love a pay monthly diablo 3. no more hackers, no more lag, no more thirteen year olds running around being annoying and asking for free godly stuff. and most of all, no more noobs not willing to pay for something good. capitalism dictates that if you see a good product, you should buy it. nothing different here. your all just used to being such cheapstakes that you would rather complain about paying when you know damn well you would pay if you had to.
amen, Carloseus, and for the record, I pay for each and every game that I play extensively. And that includes Need For Speed Carbon, which I bought, and don't even have a DVD Rom to enjoy it with. So it sits in its box until I fork over the cash for one. I would definately pay to play Diablo 3, but they need to include the expansions in the monthly fee. Paying for an expansion when you've already put in 4 years of pay to play is freaking bogus. Remember that UO players were rewarded with a HUGE update to the entire UO game engine at no charge.
i disagree, the monthly payment is to keep all the hackers and dupers off the game, and for better gameplay. WoW doesnt lag me much, mostly when i go into a city. and its not WoW, its my computer. im impressed i can play it on this thing of mine, and WoW also has awesome support.
the thing is that im going to pay for the game, the membership, and the expansions for them. besides. its not that much. if you buy the yearly rates or whatever you get it drastically lowered payment than buying the card every two months. if diablo 3 is a pay to play, im buying two years of membership.
oh I would pay as well. I just think it is unfair that a new expansion requires yet ANOTHER cost, when they obviously make insane amounts of money from monthly memberships
Blizz will finish off the series of rpg's with an rpg and then maybe move onto an mmo. I think that there's a very small chance that D3 will be an MMO.
"The next Diablo game will be an RPG style, just like the previous installments.
After that, they may move onto having a Diablo-MMO universe. But the chances of the next iteration of Diablo being a Diablo-MMO right now is very small."
I prefer monthly payments. Seriously, 15 dollars a month is Nothing... if you can't afford that, then you need a better job. A trip to the movies one night for 2 hours is over 15 dollars, yet, you can play this computer game 24/7 for a whole month, for 15. Plus, you get added support.
Monthly fee please.
On another note, Diablo III will not be a monthly fee, just like Starcraft and Warcraft. WoW is completely different. The other games use Battle.net, which is free.
i also think that diablo 3 will be like the first two. but if i had to pay, i know that we wont be neglected for so long again. at least for a long time.

Yes there is a thread about this in the Diablo3 Chat Forum.
