Blizzard Establishes "Team 3"
Gamasutra reports that Frank Pearce of Blizzard Entertainment has just confirmed that the company is working hard on another new title... and it's not World of Warcraft or Starcraft II. 40 people are working on Starcraft II and 40 people are working on this secret Team 3 project, so it's definitely another big one. According to Pearce, "Team 3 is working on something really awesome. I can’t give you any hints, but it’s totally awesome."
With Blizzcon '07 coming up this August 3-4, people have high hopes that this mystery game will be unveiled.
Hmmm, Team 3... Diablo 3... could it be? Join our discussion!
Also, I'm really not sure if they'd try to develope an entire mmo faction based on grotesque demons. I remember in the "making of" dvd for war them wanting the chars to remain humaniod and not some ridiculas thing so players could still identify somehow.
I think it will be diablo 3 with some great battlenet... mmo-like playing online with trading, maybe some arena style pvp or some other challenge. Maybe something more in line with the LOTR mmo where all races are on the same side with monster-play for pvp. I think the concept is boring but if it were diabloized probly not.
Only other possibility is a new franchise, which would be insane. I think the planet's rotation will change if they announce that.
Something first-person action? Hope not. There are enough other heavy hitters doing first-person. I don't think it's blizz's style. Maybe they want to do something for console market. That would be terrible but possible.
** never drink and post **
Let that be a lesson to you all.
Like I mentioned in my stupor-laden post earlier this morning, I highly anticipate any new developments in the Diablo universe and precisely for the reason that I've played World of Warcraft and even have friends who are dedicated to that title (and they know damn well that Diablo was their game of choice for years). Not to mention that Diablo is STILL my game of choice.
I've found that WoW in its early days was a fairly satisfying experience. It wasn't polluted with some of the more annoying trends of today's WoW environment. I think fewer players on fewer servers (I know, some were nearly bursting at capacity) helped the experience somewhat.
In addition, WoW has a glowy, cartoony feel to it. Most of the time it didn't bother me, but when I really thought about it, I felt most of the environments and player characters could be so much more intense. Obviously this is in keeping with the overall "less mature" feel (I really don't want to offend anyone with that statement, but I call 'em like I see 'em) of the Warcraft universe.
Imagine the Diablo universe set in its true, fully roamable, form. What would it be like to look up at the sky for once in Sanctuary and see the soot and ash of the demons who you've just incincerated floating ominously against a pale orange sky? Or, perhaps, you enter a city (which would be more developed hopefully) and it's just as though you sauntered into a dark, medieval, war-torn citadel, not a playful bubbly little castle town.
The possibilities are exciting to say the least, but these are my reasons for joy over anything ... anything ... Diablo related.
I realize I'm posting like a madman, but I just found some interesting words from Rob Pardo of Blizz noting that SC:Ghost is off the table.
I followed a link from blizzplanet.com but here's the full article.
Enjoy.

LLLLLLOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
and little boy I was staring at your icon while typing this and though I was going crazy....
jdwake1, whats so crazy about my icon? The picture is a mushroom cloud from an atomic bomb detonation just like "Little Boy" was the name given to the atomic bomb that was dropped on Hiroshima, Japan at WWII's end.
And also believing doesn't help thought it's always good to have hopes
Blizzard does it their own way... T.T
jdwake1 i'll try staring at my icon once i post this.
And yes it would be CRAZY to have been in Hiroshima on August 6, 1945. Talk about Hell on Earth, riding the light rail to work when all of a sudden a
B-29 bomber flys over... something falls out "What's that?" (in japanese)
And they thought we were kidding when we asked them to surrender.
Alright... i'll trade you. Stop speculating (or get others to stop) on when it will be released and i'll stop speculating or rather throwing out ridiculous numbers about what it will cost.
((My 2x sojs for ur AP Enigma??)):D
Like I said and you guys hate it:
2008 WoW expansion
2009 ScII
2010 D3
Now everyone knows that they have been working on d3 this whole time that we can consider a fact so get this, Frank pierce said they have been working on 3 games well obviously its d3 not a new franchise he said 135 WoW 40 ScII and 40 Team 3 we know they are working on diablo so directly quoting Frank Pierce it shows it has to be d3. Now it would of been a suprise if he said SCII, WOW, team3 and team4 then there could be some speculation...
You want a Diablo MMO?
Flagshipstudios just put "Mythos" Into beta testing. It is improved significantly from the alpha test and is absoutley free.
It is free because they are prepairing servers for the upcomming Hellgate release.
Its like wow minus all the limp wristed shit. The first thing you do is go down into the dungeon and hack and slash your way through to the "boss"
Ill be playing for a few hours later im "gyrextt"
It is still closed testing but I still have 3 invites who ever wants in, first 3 people. Its mad good...
