Biggest Diablo 3 Information Yet!
Today our partner site(www.wcradio.com) and a few others(www.blizzplanet.com, www.wowirc.com) hosted a Q&A with Richard A. Knaak, writer of the new book that takes place in the Diablo Universe, Diablo: The Sin War, Book One: Birthright. There are a couple questions relating to Diablo 3 and I think you will be very happy to hear the answers.
"The Sin War trilogy, written by New York Times bestselling author Richard A. Knaak, lays out the basic foundation for the lore of the Diablo universe."
Here are some questions from the interview.
Q - Rathi: Any ifnormation on Diablo3? Have you been asked to write a further story?
A - Knaak: What happens in the Sin War is significant, as I mentioned, toward the future. I know that Blizzard is very eager to make Diablo fans happy.
Q - Medievaldragon: Hope I am not spoiling much at this point, however I really have to ask. Blizzard introduced a new Pandemonium Event monster named Lilith (Act V) in Diablo II Patch 1.11. You can read about her at: http://www.battle.net/diablo2exp/monsters/act5-lilith.shtml
A - Knaak: Answer for Medievaldragon: She is, I believe, although she will look a little different by the game's point. Her part in the trilogy is major.
Q - Medievaldragon: How much of the book is creation of yours, and how involved is Chris Metzen behind the canon storyline of Diablo: The Sin War Trilogy? Do you think the ramifications of this book impact in the storyline of Diablo 3 the game?
A - Knaak: This is a pure collaboration between myself and Chris/Blizzard. All that is written is passed by him and the others there. This will be canon and has adjusted earlier info. The ramifications here will be used for any future project...and I ain't writing for a dead game.
Q - Deathshade|EU: So... Diablo 3?
A - Knaak: I am not writing for a dead world...but a world with dead. nuff said

when i said it there wasnt anything major new, should something have turned up after i said it, i dont see how i could have been wrong, i was correct when i said it. or have you never actually been in this thread before because its initial info is quite old now.
plus there has been a few of the "yeh its gonna happen, click here, see i told you, but no real actually info or comfirmation infos" floating around, so i dont count them as news.
Don't worry only the millionth time it's been asked.
BUT, me personally, i have played diablo,D2 and D2:Lod i just stopped playing D2:Lod last june. I have to say they BETTER make a D3.
D3 is going to HAVE to be a kick ass game(SO many fans cant giv them a crap game)
you know its going to have new demon bosses to fight(Harder and more detailed)
It has to be M rated(less 10-14 year olds)
IMO its going to be a MMO, as they have had GREAT success w/ WOW that they would be stupid not to, also hack n' slash ... thats out of date. yea its fun, but cmon you know you get sick of just clicking and clicking and more clicking, i know i did and my right index finger is the strongest finger i have...LOL so.. i think they will make it kinda like WOW but w/ more features, more skills equipment more everything, i think D3 will be what blizzard couldnt make WOW.
Yea most people want to stick to a D2 way of life w/ a hack n' slash game but its not going to happen, IMO.
so all in all, i think D3 will be a MMO thta will best what WOW couldnt accomplish.
SoRrOw,
So if you look at it as a Profit, D3 would make more money as a MMO as it would w/ crappy D2 graphics. so learn some satuff and get a clue.
SoRrOw
who needs graphics when you have a kick ass hack and slash game??
First, a hack&slach can probably still sell. As stated, there are diablo clones out there, and they're selling, so D3 should thus also have a market.
Second, D3 will not be an MMO if it is released within WoW's timeframe. Profit is not a simple equation of Pay to play=more money. It doesn't work that simply. If Blizzard was to release a second MMO, they would be competing with themselves, as many WoW players are also Diablo fans, and very few people play two MMO's at the same time.
Furthermore, new customers will most definately not play two at the same time, so they would just be split between the two titles instead of flocking only to WoW.
Now, my explanation is also simplified, but it shows a better picture of the situation.
According to IGN, while Sams wasn’t ready to spill the beans just yet, he did say Blizzard “will have a major product announcement in 2007,” and that Blizzard was currently working on at least three other unannounced titles at the moment.
That’s three titles in production. There’s NO WAY that they gonna miss on Diablo. If the other one is Starcraft 2, I wonder what the third title could be.
My bet is Diablo 3 will come out in 2007. Blizzard’s last game before WoW was Warcraft 3 which is still (IMHO) the be-all, end-all of good RTS, so there’s little point to rush Starcraft 2. All we have to do is wait for Diablo to steal E3 next year.
sounds to me that this year is gonna be a big gaming year
hope not...
- World of Warcraft's second expansion (Emerald Dream was rumored to be the title)
- StarCraft II (rumors from officials and popular demand)
- Diablo III (popular demand and rumors)
I wonder if Blizz will really work on 3 projects at the same time...
hope they'll begin with Diablo III...
