Without the AH, 90% of the game is down.
What are people going to do now, grind for garbage gear?
Sometimes, the idiocy of certain members of the playerbase leaves me speechless. This is not the case. If AH is the reason some people are playing the game, then they can fuck off and die of boredom for all I care. I thought games were played for fun, not for spending 90% of the time sitting in some menu obtaining virtual items without going through the fun of earning them. It's one of those (many) days when I wish the AH wasn't in existence at all. That way people like this wouldn't pollute the community and the forums with crap like this.
I agree with you, though as a person who is just getting back into this game I will offer another opinion to this. The gear level that I left the game at was fairly low, and so while starting to play again I feel that there are likely many upgrades that I could easily pick up so that I don't have to feel stressed while attempting to farm out some new items.

It may just be that the number of items on the ground and obvious lag going on that items were "disappearing" or not registering.

It's always risky to sell items (or buy them) for real money; being in BETA doesn't make any real difference for that. The scammers are always around on both ends; you just have to avoid it or be very careful on who you deal with.

What's the difference between oral and anal?
Oral may make your day, but anal will make your hole weak.

Just recently came back to Diablo 3 after a long hiatus. I have been playing other games, but I feel that after playing and exhausting similar games like PoE and Torchlight 2 that revisiting D3 will be a welcomed experience. I am still looking forward to playing my Wizard, rather than switch to a Barb, and am in the process of looking for some new groups of people to play with. I am rather undergeared and with the AH down I can't even look to grab some quick improvements. I welcome all help, from tips on builds/items to just joining my game and saying hi while killing some mobs.
You can find me at ipwnfaces#1983 on US servers any day that I happen to log on.
Thanks!

As far as the always online DRM and the Used Game debate. I personally never buy used games as I rarely buy games after their initial release day. With the recent disbanding of rental places in Canada (Rogers, Blockbuster, etc..) there might be more of an inclination to look at buying used games of those that I honestly might play for 10 hours and ignore. But with my high end PC most of those games are just a quick Steam purchase and download anyways. Always online is something that unfortunately will never go away now that it's around. The thing that needs to happen is that it should not affect the playability of the game long term, meaning servers taken down or things that would effectively kill the game. I agree that you do not always have an internet connection or may want to have one. But the world is changing to always online, and this is not just for gaming. Think about it, that when the rest of the world wants to be online, and the gaming industry decides to use it for both good and "bad" (DRM) that it's shunned. It just needs to be better designed and thought of then just what it is in it's current state.
