I have to wonder if even the lesser evils are lower in rank than we might think. Isn't Lillith the mother of Andarial? and Lucion her brother, offspring of Mephisto? wouldn't they have higher ranks then the lesser evils? Of course this could be accounted for because Lillith is a rogue demon, and Lucion is now 'dead' but it strikes me that they aren't mentioned in the higher ranks of hell. So how come Mephisto is the only Prime Evil with known offspring?
(i know most of this is probably because of the development timeline of the story, but it still strikes me that there has been no discussion of Lucion, and Lillith's ranks. Also where do Gulag and Astrogpha (spelling?) fit into the ranks, seeing as they are Diablo and Baal's lapdogs)

First, what does the constellation Hydra represent in modern times? a water serpent. Simple enough, how does it connect to Diablo lore? In Scales of the Serpent we meet the "dragon" Trag'oul. What does a dragon look like? close to a serpent. And the book's title is hmm Scales of the Serpent. Dragons and othe reptillian like creatures, such as Lillith is described in the Sin Wars, it makesa connection there. I'm making an assumption that Trag'oul will play a big part in D3.
Second, The composition of the constellation Hydra; There is only one bright star in the entire constellation, Alphard, which may be representative of the Hero in the Diablo series. Additionally, Hydra has a variable star in the constellation. In Scales of the Serpent Trag'oul's Body is always shifting forms, like a variable star changing from magnitude to magnitude. One last thing one the composition of Hydra; it is the largest modern constellation. Aside from WoW, what is Blizzard's Number one selling game (a.k.a. the largest)? D2/LOD!
-- I forgot to add that Hydra has several Binary star systems which also look like they change magnitudes to the unaided eye, more shifting for Trag'oul--
Thirdly (crap I have to use mythology to explain this one and it has nothing to do with the constellation), In Scales of the Serpent (if you have read this tell me your opinion on this) it seems to me that Rathma and Trag'oul while Mendeln is with them hint that there may be a way, aside from the worldstone, to 'banish', for lack of a better word, the High Heavens and the Burning Hells from Sanctuary. As we know, since the begining the HH and BH have been at constant war until the discovery of Sanctuary created by Lillith and Inarius, but what about the other planes Trag'oul speaks about? We know nothing of them except that one leads to the afterlife for the people of Sanctuary. Additionally, Trag'oul has been able to escape detection from the HH and BH since the begining. OK here's the mythology, did all the planes come from nothing, like in greek mythology's Chaos, and give birth to the different "Titans", the HH, BH, Trag'oul's plane and others? with different levels such as Tartarus, etc.
Well I think that's enough new insight for right now, if I think of something more I'll post.
