    Quote from Chonaire

I most likely wouldn't play it. Sure some people would enjoy it, but I'd be bitter over any developement time spent into such, when it could be focused on actual softcore endgame. After we get our endgame in the actual game, sure, why not.
That goes without saying, especially since any softcore balance changes affect this dramatically.

posted a message on My idea for a Hardcore Ladder
    1. You get exactly 1 Hardcore character of your choice in each season. Each character starts out at level 60 with predefined gear for that class (Blizzard can tune the starting gear for balance between seasons).
    2. You play through the game with monster stats and drops equivalent to Inferno Act 1. If you beat all four acts on that difficulty, you continue to play the game again on a difficulty equivalent to Inferno Act 2. This continues into infinity, with ever increasing monster stats, as far as the player is capable of. Each of these difficulties would be called a tier, f.e. Tier 1 Act 2, Tier 10 Act 1, or T1A1, T10A1 for short.
    3. Ladder rank is based on, in order of decreasing magnitude, which tier you’re in, which act you’re on in that tier, the highest boss you've killed in that act, and how many elites you’ve killed (if you’re tied for everything else). Death of a character does not affect ladder rank, but you cannot advance any further for that season.
    4. At the end of the season all characters are lost and everyone has to start over with a fresh character.
    5. You aren’t allowed to start a boss fight unless you have 5 stacks of Nephalem Valor.
    6. Stash separate from Softcore and Hardcore modes.
    7. No auction house.
    8. No Paragon levels.
    9. Ladder-specific achievements.
    10. Two ladders: Single-Player Ladder and Team Ladder.
    11. Single Player Ladder: No other players. Only followers for assistance. No trading.
    12. Team Ladder: You start a Team Ladder mode game whilst in a party of Team Ladder characters (who have not yet begun the season). When you start the first game, they are marked as your team. You aren’t required to always play a game with those people, but you cannot join anybody else’s games, nor can anyone else join yours. They are also the only people you’re allowed to trade with. The team’s overall rank is the farthest any one of the team members has gotten. Elite kill counts are summed for each team. Hence, if you’re the only one on the team currently online, you can contribute by progressing as far as you can on your own and raking up as many elite kills as possible. As for character deaths… it was a team of 4, now it’s a team of 3 :) . Don’t worry though, you still get the team’s overall score.

posted a message on Inferno Difficulty a failure?
Inferno difficulty isn't a failure, it's just a misunderstanding on both the side of the developers and of the players.

From the developers' side, there were two blunders. One was the assumption that Diablo fans would enjoy a flat difficulty. They did not. The other was the vagueness of their statement that they wanted only "5%" of the population to pass Inferno. My question is: 5% of what? The number of people who bought the game or the number of those that even care to touch Inferno? Are they saying that 19 out of 20 people who touch that last milestone should just drop the game and rage-quit in frustration? There's no rational sense in that goal, and I think they realized that post-launch and are now moving the game to the more Diablo-esque mindset of "Anyone who starts Inferno, finishes Inferno... after they've item-grinded for a veeeeeeery long time".

From the players' side, people somehow managed to misperceive that Inferno difficulty would be some kind of elite club that less skillful players aren't even allowed to enter. Anyone with at least a bit of logical thinking understood way before launch that the existence of an auction house would render that fantasy moot, since you would be able to either use real money or farm up gold in the lower difficulties. But for some reason that is beyond me to explain, even after months after release, a number of people are still not disillusioned and expect an exclusive club in this game without having to play Hardcore mode.

So, the conclusion to my rant is as follows: Softcore Inferno isn't meant to be difficult to the point where it's an unprecedented challenge, and even Blizzard failed to realize this at first (that's why they're making amends). If you want challenge in D3, play Hardcore.

My experience with 1.04 Arcane Mines is they serve the exact same purpose as Meteor - a delayed but potent tight-area AoE (with the option to spread it out a little). So you're basically alternating two Meteors :) , one of which gives you slow. I can't imagine this spec working in Act 2 though. Stuff moves around like crazy there.

    Quote from Turtel

Sorry but none. Never did a quest/zone twice while leveling and even skipped all the side dungeons. Followed main quest and did a few events i found on the way. Never crafted anything from the blacksmith and my gear was not good either. Many pieces had only 1 useful stat. As mentioned in my earlier post, 1st time visited AH in a3 hell for one reason - i was rushing it, i wanted to finish it faster cause i like to hit max level fast in every game i play. Well for the option D. fine i wasnt one shotting everything, but wheres the fun in that? I remember having problems on Izual (hell) where i died about 10 times cause he was killing me in 2 hits. He was my biggest trouble during all leveling, followed by Belial (hell).
Diablo is just not your type of game. You don't get anywhere by level-rushing. It's a gear grind. Deal with it.

I did the exact opposite of what you did and combed every single area and dungeon I could find to get as many blue and gold items as I could. I would then either use them or salvage them for blacksmithing. And I checked the vendors every single time for if something good showed up. End result? I blasted through Nightmare and Hell with ease. Not even elite packs were that much of a problem.

This is just how you play this game.

Ecologista is a WD who runs a3 inferno pubs, sits in the corner and does nothing. he will strangely follow you 1 click every 2yrds and cast 1 primary spell every 5 secs. If you run into this character, be cautious. he will hinder your run.
Try typing something profane to him and see if you get a response. If not, I suspect a bot.

In case you didn't know, crafting is part of the normal, single-player game. So you should use it too. And vendors. They're very good up until the last acts of Hell.

posted a message on Most insane Affix Combos
Insane affix combos not only become more ridiculous with the monster type, but also with the area in which they occur. So... Act 2 spiderlings Vortex, Frozen, Arcane Enchanted, Plagued... in a small cave with only narrow tunnels to navigate. Can you say "chain-freeze"? Can you say "frickin' chain-freeze three times in a row"?! :xD:

Pretty much any time Vortex+Frozen rolls in a tight space things get really crazy.

I really hate to say it, but unless you're grouping with friends or just some really good players you can trust to pull their weight in the group, soloing is still the most viable option when it comes to playing this game. That of course saddens me because I have the most fun when playing multiplayer.
Come on, don't be spoil-sport. If there's an underdog in the group, just relax, roll your eyes, and let him have his fun. I bet there were times when someone carried you as well. :)

In practice, there will be at least one person either afk or just wandering around gathering samples of lichen, so it works out slower.
I wonder where they find lichen in the deserts of Khejistan? :)
On topic, yes, it does feel faster when you're in a group where everyone contributes.

The problem with this is you always need mobs around that you can kill quickly. As is the case with Life on Kill... wait a minute. Isn't this technically the same as Life on Kill? :fret:
