I think the problem wasn't so much what Jay said, but the conclusion that many fans drew that if this is what they think of a former coworker echoing some of their concerns in a relatively mild manner, what do they say to each other about the fans' threads and constructive criticism? It confirmed for many of them that while they may put on this public face because they have to in regards to "Every Voice Matters", privately they don't really care what anyone thinks and probably laugh and/or mock us, and are only motivated by their own need to restore their repuatation/make more money to make any changes. It's disheartening, but not surprising.

Couldn't sleep, went on official forums, saw this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WqXltcnOMCY ....laughed forever and thought I'd share. Tired again, hopefully wake up to the MF blog and nobody caring about this anymore ;)

Post on the official forums says it all:

I think it illustrates exactly how deep the state of denial the developers are regarding Diablo 3. The guy tries to say as politely as he could his feelings about this bad new turn in the DIablo series, and they just answer in a ridiculous butthurt fashion.

I do know they might be facing some hard times, handling all the community backlash, and its easy to snap under pressure - after all, it is at their "record breaking baby" people are throwing rocks at (and I do believe most of the dev team put a lot of passion in making the game, and did their best with the shitty orders and directions they received).

Still, the criticism is deserved and it is about time they shrug off this denial state and really sit down and reflect upon the handicapped product they delivered, and face head-on (not superficially as until now) DIablo 3 issues, most of which are simply a by-product of really bad early development calls.

The fastest selling PC game of all time only achieved this status through the weight of the DIablo brand (thus, its predecessors' work), the devotion of Blizzard's fanbase and a really good marketing department. Although Diablo is a good game, we all know it didn't reach the podium by its own merits, and I think Brevik deserved more respect, and the D3 developers, more humility to swallow the pride and work to make the game worthy of the record.

Yeah...not so much. Also, regarding the comment made that it was the fastest selling PC title, I'm pretty sure I could've pressed dog shit into a circle and put that in a case labelled "Diablo 3" and it would've sold. Delusional

I think it was more that Dave's interview, while somewhat critical, was polite and diplomatic (and really didn't say anything the community hasn't said in a much more impolite manner). Jay Wilson saying "Fuck that loser" and a bunch of Blizzard employees liking the comment seems pretty immature. I have to think they either didn't know people could see their comments, or are just that arrogant. Either way, it reflects poorly on the company, as I imagine it's going to garner some negative press
