posted a message on Jade or Pets. Quick and efficient?
Yeah you have way better odds of getting a Quetz than TnT so you should go for jade build first.

I don't know why you've got a CDR gem for pet build though, it's nearly useless. A %life gem would help you live through higher torments which grant way more xp.

posted a message on Need help with leapquake build (low damage)
Your Sunkeeper is low dmg, a good crafted Devastator would be better until you find a good Sunkeeper which could be never.

If you haven't rerolled the Burning Axe then try to reroll the dmg to CDR (it's very hard to but it is possible).

Keep rerolling Lut Socks for AR.

Replace the belt with nearly anything else, Harrington, Cassius, Chilanik, w/e you choose make sure it has str/vit/ar and preferably %life.

Nemesis and Julia's are not items you should main equip, just swap them on when needed unless you really don't have anything better.

Avoid attack speed, it does nothing for quakes. Also avoid RCR because leap is free, your other cd's are free, everything that matters is free.

posted a message on Wyatt Cheng on EHP and Life Return Stats
    Quote from Zeyk23

You completely missed the point. It's not about the difficulty, it's about gameplay design. They were talking about making things less bursty, so there are grey areas between "I'm at full health and staying there indefinitely" or "oops I just died in half a second".
What point? He's talking a bunch of game design philosophical garbage that actually means nothing in the context of the current game. If you are taking too much damage then you have the option to lower the MP level, change skills, or gear for more EHP. We're always going to be balancing between DPS, EHP, and regen, so if they just nerf regen then we will gear for more EHP to make up for the reduced regen. In order to make it impossible to outgear smart gameplay they would have to remove defensive stats or nerf them to the ground to the point where they didn't matter at all and remove MP levels since nobody will be able to survive them.

How do you balance fighting 1 mob might vs fighting 10? When 1 phase beast hits you it hurts, when a pack of 4 (not sure if they can be horde affix for >4, don't think I've ever seen it in over 1k hours) all hit you better have a shit ton of EHP and if one of the faerie things hit you with theire armor debuff then god help you.

There are also so many affix combos where it is easy to do the right thing for each individual affix but put them together and they prevent you from doing what you want. How do you balance being frozen/jailed/walled in a tight space filled with lasers?

Would they completely kill CM spec too? If not then CM wizards would be even more mandatory to freeze everything so that you can live easily and dps more efficiently in groups.

They might retune regen numbers to bring them more in line with each other on current gear but they can't do anything to drastically change gameplay without making many other significant changes. ie. maybe in the expansion...

posted a message on Dont do anything in the US AH! BUG
I didn't do it at all but I think the fairest thing to do is revert any gold gained by people that did it 1 time (too hard to tell if it is accidental or not), revert gold and give a short ban (3-7 days) for people that did it 2-3 times with less than half their gold and under 1 billion total (still might be accidental but highly unlikely), and perma ban anybody that exploited it more than that. The parameters for each group might need some slight tweaking but the point is that the more obvious it is that they exploited the worse the punishment should be.

posted a message on Jay Wilson: Auction Houses 'really hurt' game
The AH/trading was never the problem, loot always has been.

From Normal to Hell difficulties there's no AR and you don't need it but then you'd get to Inferno and you'd hit a brick wall because you needed >300AR to even farm A1 but how were you going to get AR when it only came from drops in Inferno? Many players quit at A1 Inferno because of this and the few that progressed did it thanks to trading. If you take away trading then the game dies there at A1 Inferno.

In order for trading to be less relevant the average quality of gear needs to be raised. However there are far too few stats that we rely on so if they just raise the quality and leave everything else alone then all items start looking alike. That's why they need to (and are going to) add more good stats so that gear can still be diverse while being better on average.

posted a message on Another PTR..... Really
D3 and SC2 are stuck with PTR's because WoW's raid testers blow ass and people got so tired of new raids being released full of bugs that Blizz started up PTR's to find all the problems with their raid bosses. It was successful for WoW so they started doing it for all their games even though almost nobody wants to play on PTR's for SC2 or D3 because they have hardly any changes compared to the massive amount of content that gets added every WoW patch.

posted a message on Theorycrafting on...crafting.
They could improve crafting tremendously by simply removing the gold cost on all old recipes. There is already a cost on the mats (w/e you lost by salvaging instead of vendoring) and adding a gold cost on top of it makes it so that nubs can't afford to craft and people that have money don't want to craft because the best reward is never remotely worth the risk.

posted a message on Moving from Skorn to DW...
    Quote from Entropy42

I just came back to the game and had a similar question. I also have a similar Skorn, and went looking for 1H's to replace it, but found prices to be very high for equivalent DPS. At my gear level, I can effectively farm MP2-3.

Is DW only better than a 2H when you are talking about the very highest DPS builds? i.e. Is dual wield only better when calculating the Best-in-slot setup?
It all comes down to what build you want to use. Lesson #1 of D3 is to ignore the char sheet dps number because it does not tell you anything remotely useful until you understand your build. After you understand your build you can use the char sheet dps as a loose guide.

As an example of why you must understand your build, Sprint - Run Like the Wind tornadoes always use the mainhand damage range but uses the speed of the last weapon swung. Most of the real dps of a blender build comes from Sprint, not from Whirlwind, so the mainhand should have a high dmg range (which is better on slow weapons) and the offhand should be fast but it doesn't need high dps (too low will tank your WW dmg though) with stats that boost your mainhand dmg (str and chd). Also, keeping WotB:ToC up requires generating and spending lots of fury, and most of that fury comes from Sprint tornadoes criting which happens a lot more if you're dual wielding with that fast offhand than if you're using a slow 2h. So even though your char sheet might say your dps is low while dual wielding with a high dps slow mainhand and medium dps fast offhand, your real dps with blender spec could actually be much higher than it would be with a 2h that says it's higher dps on your char sheet.

For other builds 2h can be better than dual wield though.

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/lv?key=0AoEU_oBnESrOdElTaVBhZTVFbEYwYzlqbHZJeXk1dGc&toomany=true#gid=0

It looks pretty good for a rough outline.

Personally I think all shields are completely worthless, people will still buy the very top end ones (your main stat/vit/resist are probably too low for shields) but it doesn't make any sense when a 900 loh + socket + stats weapon for the same cost is almost always better.

For caster offhands it tops out at over 500 total +dmg now with ilvl 63 so you really need more like +350 dmg minimum unless it's one of the legendaries with special affixes for silly builds (fun to mess around with but not optimal) and crit is really mandatory.

posted a message on Does anyone else not pick up rares?
    Quote from RMrulz

Pick up and ID the ilvl 50-59 gear also. Well-rolled gear sells for a lot on the AH since there are so few people selling this gear to all the people leveling alts. You're leaving a ton of gold sitting on the ground by ignoring this gear.
For anybody farming at a decent rate, no you're not. I have countless lvl 60+ gear that I can't even attempt to sell because my AH is full of 1 mill+ items that I'm waiting to sell even at heavy discounts and I still gather it faster than I can sell it. I have never had any ilvl 59 or less (excluding jewelry) item sell for more than 100k which is not remotely worth my time trying to sell. By trying to sell low priced crap you just prevent yourself from making more money off the high value items.
