If they lower the attack speed percentages on items it will just make it so the gear some people have now is worth a fortune. Unless they modified the existing pieces somehow. I do not see this as an ideal solution. It grandfathers in the people who already have amazing gear. I wish to continue to be able to upgrade my gear. I think this would just give some people a huge insurmountable advantage. The people who are blowing up act 3/4 inferno already have enough advantage. They get to farm gear faster than the rest of us and sell it on the auction house to people who can't even access that tier of gear. Though I suppose it would be keeping the traditions of Diablo 2 and the people who got to measure their wealth in SOJ's from 1.08.

First off, I will start by saying I love my Monk.

Anyway I ask for confirmation from someone in the know if Blizzard has stated that they are going to nerf attack speed in 1.03. From what I've seen it could be something like 50% effectiveness. Is this not disproportionately a nerf to Monks?

From what I have seen in video's, and on twitch tv, from gear posts etc. etc. the only Act 3-4 successful monks have had a fast attack speed. Monks depend on attack speed to generate spirit and the utility of our primary abilities depend on getting 3 attacks off in quick succession.

I personally am using every piece of attack speed gear I can afford. I think my 18k dps is barely enough for Act 3! Monks have the lowest dps in the game and are already considered underpowered by many. I am not here to complain about how they work now... I am happy to continue farming and upgrading my gear knowing that eventually I will get enough resistances, armor, attack speed and life on hit to have at least moderate success. I just do not want them to invalidate the primary strategy my class uses to be sucessful.

My final point is that disrupting the sprit generator of the monk to such a degree would necessitate either a buff or reworking of our spirit generators. Making it more than 6 points per attack for instance. Or throwing an underpowered class/classes a bone and making this just effect ranged, if they do it at all. Blizzard stated they want to help out the melee's so they ought to be serious about it. For the record I think the steps they stated in the blue post I read are sufficient (to help melee) and they should leave attack speed alone, for everyone.
