Life on Hit is not a must. I am currently running with 120 life on hit. You resistances and stamina are a bit high. If you can trade em off for some more dps that would basically solve your problem. I clear act 3 in 3 hours from start to finish without the stupid whirlwind build.
I rarely post but i find theese forums very informative. I have been playing a barb and i have about 350 hours on her atm. I didnt spend more than 2 milion on the AH but i have been steadily farming act 3 for a while now. My gear is far from amasing but i had a share of decent drops. I never even thought about going to act 4 untill i got super bored yesterday. I managed to clear it in under an hour with shitty gear.
My base stats were:
900 all res
19% block chance sacred shield
1000 life on hit ( mostly due to the gem i made and put it on weapon )
about 10k dps.
40 k hp
( I do not play with theese stats at all its my pre 1.0.3. set basicaly thus the low dps )
Things go slow as hell but it gets you there. I did not skip a single pack but i had some lucky combos/affixes. So imho you can clear act 4 with a little bit of skill with far far less gold. It is important to note that i play preety much the cookie cutter sword/board spec but instead of ignore pain i use WoTB with insanity rune. Every other skill is preety much cookie cutter. If u want to chat a bit more in detail lemme know i will keep a close eye on the thread.
For act 3 however i use the same spec but with theese stats.
700 All res
45k hp
300 LoH
34k dps without full fury
And i duel wield so no shield.
I am forced to skip some packs just because i cant stand the high repair bills. But its all about luck as i stated before.
For act 2 you can go preety much naked post patch. I drop my resistances to about 400 to all and i go max dps about 50k before full fury.
