posted a message on PTR 2.4 Crusader - Norvald's Thorny Pony Build (Video)

    http://ptr.d3planner.com/978678700

this is what i came up with messing around with the planner.

went with heart of iron since it rolls thorns from the start and cubbed aquila for toughness, wasnt sure on 2nd ring but not sure you can get a unity with thorns and cooldown reduction on it, with perfect CDR rolls you can get to 57% without having to cube a leorics

posted a message on Crusader block (PTR questions)

79.88% dmg reduction with blood brother cubed at 95% block and 189,903,760 toughness

73.58% dmg reduction without blood brother at 75% block and 144,622,256 toughness

roughly 6.3% dmg reduction difference but 45 million toughness loss, i will do some greater rifts without blood brother to see how it goes.

posted a message on season 3 condemn

Think i might be the only crusader still playing condemn at this time, but either way have a few questions and looking for some tips.

here is a link to my profile:

    Profile Link

dmg: 765k (with gem, ring procs and akarat's 1.7 mil)

    CDR: 55% (10% from paragon)

Resists: lowest 912 and highest 1259 (250 from paragon)

    HP: 480k

Toughness: 10.4 no buffs (23.3 with akarat's full time, more with taeguk stacked)

recovery: 500k (max loh from paragon)

just got a gift (@240 ish paragon) and used it on my BOP to bring it up to 3800 dmg, pretty good for not being ancient and only one i have found, also just got a focus which completed the ring set. Ring set and gifting weapon pretty much doubled my dmg, which makes t6 a piece of cake now and the only solo rift i have done is a 32 and that wasnt any problem too.

Just feel my hp is low, barely over 480k and i still need to get condemn dmg onto my shield and shoulders but sure may have to loose vitality some there as well. Now my shield just sucks but kadala just wont give me another, have gotten 4 final witness ones in a row tho.

Looking forward to any tips as well to hear from anyone else out there playing condemn.

Thanks for your time and have a good day!

PS. yes i know shield bash does more dmg and besides shield pattern hasnt dropped for me yet im just looking to improve my condemn build atm not switch since condemn works well with my grp i play with.

so what gems do you think will best with this set?

    gogouk of swiftness (atk speed/cooldwon)

Esoteric alteration (non-physical dmg reduction/75% increased resists when below 50% hp)

molten wildebeest's gizzard (lps/abosrb sheild for 200% of lps after no dmg for 4 sec)

these seem to be the running leaders for the rolands build now i think, seen mention of them in a few videos but was curious to see what others thought on the legendary gem front

I would say that it depends on your need. If you play better with the increased CC, then stay with that build. If you need a little more dps, then go back to thunderfury.

Meatheadmikail (sp?) has a follower guide on DFans that's pretty decent. Just replace his gear with ancient versions and you'll be up to date.

arent we on Dfans site now? tried searching follower(s) and meathead and didnt come across anything, any chance you can provide a link to their post?

I like to use the Ess of Johan necklace for the crowd control proc.

I do have 2 of them in the bank i been meaning to reroll for some dps stats or a socket for use on the templar, forgot about that.

Usually play 2 player with my brother so i dont use my templar much. He is still mad at me since this season he gave me the templar cant die relic since he had one for his enchantress already and we have yet to see another between the 2 of us and we are both paragon 530s.

posted a message on Your Ideal Follower and Gear

Im Sure opinions vary alot on what is the best setup for your follower and which to use. So i decided to start this thread about it to ask for others thoughts on what i did with mine and how i geared it.

Follower: Templar for the lps, heals and the knockback with heal when at low HP.

    Relic: Cant die one

Neck: random with str, crit chance, dmg range and socket

Ring 1: Unity with str, chc, chd and elite dmg

Ring 2: Justice Lantern with str, chd, socket and block chance

Weapon: azurewrath with 9% dmg, str and socket added with gift (24.2% chance to freeze on hit)

shield: freeze of deflection with str, crit chance, 11% block (26% total) and socket (blocking has chance to freeze attacker for 1.2 sec)

total dmg is about 524k, it use to be over 700k. use to have an ancient thunderfurry on him before switching to azurewrath for the chance at freeze.

My questions for you people is, think this is a pretty good setup or should i go back to the thunderfurry for more dmg? My templar has 58% block with shield and ring. Also has 24.5 crit chance and 150% crit damage. Seeing as crit damage dont seem to show in templar damage would it be better to roll the chd on the unity to a socket for more strength?

What is your ideal follower and gear for them? Please post your thoughts and ideals on what you think is the best setup.

Thanks for your time and have a good day.

    Shield bash damage is Listed w% + (Shield% * block %)

So if you go form 10% to 30% block you go from 730% to 790% wDamage which is an 8% damage increase.

not sure about the whole (shield%) part but i guess i was trying to make things alot more complicated. seems simple enough that its 700% weapon dmg + block%. so with shield with max block is 31% (20base/11 secondary) for grand total of 793% weapon dmg.

so then what about the ring Justice Lantern which comes with a 16% block on it. 16x3=48+793=841%.

    *edit*

well doing the math myself its just a hair over 6% dmg increase. so other rings prob alot more useful then using a lantern for the block on it.

if shield bash is also 300% block value how much of a diff would a 10% block vs 20% block be? sure math is easy it would be 30 vs 60 but how do those numbers factor into shield base as a whole.

would a 20% block shield with 11% block on it make that big of a difference?

so if we go RORG and 5 piece with cindercoat, what weapon will be best for a shield bash build? Any ancient to start our with for max dmg but in the end what would be ideal? a maximus for bonus fire dmg?

copied my account to PTR a bit ago and was trying a bit out, with cinder coat, rorg and 5 piece i was seeing 300 mil top end crits. was using my BOP since its ancient and crafted the shield for reduce cost. Didnt bother to change out my gems either so i had in ones ideal for condemn build.

How much cooldown reduction are we going to want to run and should we get CDR over dps stats on rings and such? THink i had ~30%. (8% ring 9% weapon 8% shoulders and 10% paragon)

if they want us to use sweep for aoe and shield for single just sucks the skills are on the same 3 pieces of gear. Hard to try and max skill dmg of both that way.

Ideally you'll be maximizing whichever one is bottlenecking clearspeed. Or splitting the difference I suppose. Hard decisions are supposed to be hard.

the one ptr video i seen guy was only running shield bash, so if that is the case it makes things easy. but this is getting off topic. was more wondering how the atk speed buffs anything for shield bash

OP your forgetting your generator. The attack bonus affects everything, so on single target you just switch to a couple seconds of your generator, then go back to shield bash. And the +3 wrath passive actually helps a lot.

seen a few builds that dont even use a generator, with shield for reduce cost, cinder coat if you use a fire run, and the bracers as well as a few other skills that provide wrath, a generator isnt required to be able to spam shield bash
