Discovered a multi-speed bonus in the formula for dual wield. Will have new version online tonight with the fix (already fixed on my end, just need to upload to server).

I came up with the same sort of build and iam really, really glad i did.

    Here is my character: http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Blake-2297/hero/321614
Edit: If you have any ideas how to improve my damage for higher greater rifts (solo 30 is "Ok" 31 is not doable in time). Id really appreciate. :)
Nice Furnace! That thing is pretty sick :)

As for upgrades, the Efficacious Toxin gem might not be the best choice. I know it adds 10% damage, but that just stacks in with your other +damage bonuses. The poisons damage it deals is pretty minimal, even at 25 (325% per second). You could always try to use Taeguk, which will give you more + damage and some toughness, though its pretty annoying to keep the buff up. Another option is Pain Enhancer, which is much higher damage, and adds a massive speed boost when you have the bleed on several mobs.

I'm not sure how you are doing with surviving, but Superstition I find is key on surviving in higher G rifts. It might be worth dropping Rampage for Superstition if you find you are getting killed often. Rampage is great for clearing, but doesn't usually do much on the Rift Guardian. However, with freeze builds, survival may not be an issue for you yet.

Other than that, your Ring of Royal Grandeur could have some Crit or Crit Damage on it instead of the life per hit, but that may require farming more :PLuckily, they just did a massive buff to bounties, with nearly 100% chance to have a legendary on T6.

    Hope this helps :)

Similar discussion here. The weapon is pretty useless compared to anything else you could have instead.

Hopefully they'll re-work it to either allow you to have twice as many ancients (effect the skill itself without needing hammer of the ancient proc), or make it so the spawned ancients adapt your Rune / gear bonuses.

WW procs all gems. I use the IAS one, and have it proc all the time at rank 2. Get it higher rank to see more reliable buffs.

Made some updates to the Calc based on feedback in the Blizz forums! Pretty much set to go until any new changes arise. I was able to calc out a way to get ancients doing roughly 170 mil dps using gear I have, minus a few lvl 30-ish gems.

posted a message on All-Inclusive Barbarian DPS Calc for 2.1! Skill Changes, Gems & Gear!
Hey all, been working on a new spreadsheet for a while including all the changes in 2.1. Here's a link to a website I'm hosting, so everyone can use it free and help me work out all the bugs: http://d3barb.com. I plan on sprucing up the site a bit later on once the footwork of the calc is finished. I'd love some feedback and any errors you may encounter while using it! Here are some instructions on how to use the calc:

    General DPS Calc Usage:

1.) Fill out all the gear stats from your in-game character.

2.) Fill out the "Paragon" section using the actual values, not paragon points (ex: 6.8 IAS, 45 CHD, 5 CHC)

3.) Use the "Sets" section to apply any set bonuses. **Currently only sets that directly increase damage are included. I will add CDR ones (Born's, Captains) in later.

4.) Use the "Skill" section to add in any passives / skills that will apply to your character sheet while standing/running in town. (Weapon Master, Hexing Pants, Battle Shout) Use this to verify your character DPS in-game matches the Calc. **If you are using a weapon with the +% damage modifier, there is a slight rounding issue in-game that results in very slight DPS differences in the Calc. Usually the difference is extremely minor due to fractional damage values on the base weapon damage.**

5.) Once you have re-created your in-game DPS in the Calc, apply any other skills / items / gems that you would like to see calculated in. **Good test skills for this are Wrath of the Berserker, Overpower, Battle Rage since you can verify the damage on your character sheet.**

*For Strongarm Bracers and Depth Diggers, you must put the % value of the bonus in before it will be calculated in.*
**Gems that are selected scale based on the LVL, and include any lvl 25 bonuses, so make sure you have your correct level included!**

If you follow these steps, you should see extremely reliable DPS numbers in the top right, broken down into Buffed DPS, Elemental DPS and Elemental / Elite DPS, as well as character stats that are all dynamic to the changes you make. I find this extremely useful when deciding which passives / skills do the most in a fully - buffed situation.

    Skill Section Usage:

1.) Put the Weapon % value of the skill in the top box of each skill.
2.) If using Frenzy (Skill #1), make sure to select from the "skills" section with the Rune you have since the speed boost will be calculated under the skill DPS only, and not in your Sheet DPS. Other Primaries, just choose if you have a Damage boosting rune or not.
3.) Put the duration of the skill if a DoT for Skill #2 and Skill #3 (Rend, Earthquake)
4.) Select Ancients if using Ancients (Skill #3) since they currently multiply differently than other skills.

These numbers are a lot harder to verify, but so far I have seen pretty realistic numbers using this tool. Realize for AoE skills, this will only show you the DPS of attacking a single mob!

posted a message on PTR 2.1 - 50 Barbarian Hellfire Amulets (Video)
Just a comment on your "honorable mention" for Weapon Master: The 8% Damage bonus (Using Maximus) actually only adds around a total 6.5% damage increase to my current build, since it is additive to Hexing Pants. If I add in Battle shout as well (Maurader's Rage for pet build), Weapon Master is now valued at 5.7% Increase. Going even further and adding in Berserker Rage, WM now increases overall by 4.8%. Here are the in-game numbers for comparison:

Base DPS with only Hexing Pants as D.I.B.S: 964,378
Hexing + Weapon Master: 1,026,028 (6.392% Increase over just Hexing)
Hexing + Marauder's Rage: 1,126,792 (16.841% Increase over just Hexing)
Hexing + MR + Weapon Master: 1,191,181 (5.714% Increase over Hexing + MR)
Hexing + MR + Berserker Rage: 1,328,006 (37.706% Increase over just Hexing)
    Hexing + MR + BR + Weapon Master: 1,392,394 (4.848% Increase over Hexing + MR + BR)

At least for Maximus, Weapon master actually becomes a very small damage increase as you add in other boosts. Granted, not everyone will be using Hexing pants, Berserker Rage or even Battle Shout, but I thought I would provide some math to demonstrate how it can quickly become a very weak passive for Maximus users. The Crit end of it may be quite different, but I'm too tired to throw together a build to test out numbers.

I have 2 100% go-to passives that I use in every single build: Ruthless and Superstition. As you pointed out, they work no matter what, and really help you kill / survive elite packs at higher GR.

    Nice video as usual :)

Had your socket been IAS or CDR instead, you could have rolled the life per fury off as % damage like you did, and ended up with the stats types I used in my example. Again, it was merely to illustrate a point. Personally, with the way things are surviving in higher GR, I'd consider keeping the Life per Fury rather than taking the IAS. I haven't seen one yet on the PTR to test anything my self.

I think the point MeatHead is making is that you can get SS damage as a 5th primary, PLUS use a Ramalandi if you happen to roll that way.

    Stats could look like this:

    (Primary)
    +1500-1750 Damage
    +10% Damage
    1100 STR
    7% IAS
    25% Seismic Slam Damage
    Socket (Ramalandi's Gift)

    (Secondary)
Reduces cost of Seismic Slam by 45%

Though I didn't care much for the suggested 300th Spear change, I do agree Ancient Spear could use some work. Here is a thread I started yesterday suggesting some changes to Ancient Spear Runes to add better variety and viability: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/13777877956#1

posted a message on Leapquake + hexing pants of Mr. Yan
If you're going to use Hexing pants with a Leap-quake build, I would advise Whirlwind, since there will always be constant movement. There is a slight delay from when you land before the damage drops back down, so whirlwind fits in perfectly.

    FIX NO ESCAPE PASSIVE
(it doesnt apply to boulder toss 100% - dunno about other runes)

-Boulder Toss needs the 20% dmg increased to 25% and the cost reduced to 20 fury points and the AOE increased from 9 to at
    least 11yards !

For 300Spear (has a chance to drop with one of 4 unique afixxes)
-Boulder Toss now turns into a ball of magma fire and hits 13yards AOE and burns for 500% weapon dmg over 5 sec (fire)
-Boulder Toss now turns into a spear of lightning and hits 13yards AOE and stuns for 2 sec (lightning)
-Boulder Toss now turns into a giant snowball and hits 13 yards AOE and slows for 6sec (cold)
-Boulder Toss now turns into a bigger boulder and hits 13 yards AOE and immobilizes for 2sec (physical)
all affected by elemental skill dmg%

-Weapons Master should count for both weapons

Barbarian is most melee class and is the most weakest class - need more basic defense - without requiring to use a skill or passive, just make him have 5k more armor standard or +250all res at least !
Maybe you shouldn't play the Barb if you think they're the weakest class lol. You want to just magically have more armor and resist all so you don't have to use passives for defense? Yeah... that makes no sense. I run T6 with minimal defensive skills (Warcry, Bloodthirst, Superstition) and do absolutely fine.

Also, I agree with the others that tuning a weapon to buff a single rune of a skill is not practical. The item currently buffs all variations of Ancient Spear and weapon throw... The fact that they created a dedicated throwing weapon at all is more than enough for most players.

posted a message on PTR 2.1 - Barbarian Freezequake Build (Video)
Call of Arreat strategy was more to help with the speed of clearing in general, as it greatly increases damage done to white trash. Usually this isn't an issue, but certain high HP mobs take a while to kill.

Also realize with my suggestions, that's from someone who does NOT have a furnace OR Pride of Cassius. Not very lucky with drops in that department. Personally I think The Furnace allows anyone to use almost any build successfully. Sadly, it's pretty much a requirement to kill past rift 30 for barb since our class struggles with high hp single target fights. Maybe someday I'll see one drop and see what difference it makes.

I've swapped to 100% season on the PTR and am 1 piece away from leapquake again (RoRG or Earth Gloves), so I'll play around a bit with mixing in other skill / gear combos as well. I like the Crimson set you have incorporated in there for the bonus CDR, though I'd love to mix in some Hexing pants instead for the 25% damage boost while leaping / WWing (again for someone without Furnace looking to get past 30).

    http://www.diablofans.com/forums/diablo-iii-class-forums/barbarian-bastions-keep/89856-2-1-0-ptr-cold-barb-is-awesome

This discussion was a bit buried, since I started it right when the PTR began. It was also pre-2hander buff, and without a Furnace. Whirlwind is def a better choice for someone with a 2 hander, but I think you should also consider mixing in Rend - Mutilate, especially with furnace. Using Lamentation belt, you can apply 2 stacks of rend, giving your furnace 2 extra chances to tick alongside whirlwind. It will also increase your Earthquake damage by 10% (possibly 20% from second stack but I haven't tested it since seasons started). I see you say "I tried Rend", but the DPS increase and bonus Furnace ticks would seem like a win/win mixing that in there before you start spinning.

One other thing to try: Use Strongarm Bracers with Leap - Call of Arreat for clearing the rift a bit faster. Aughilds giving you the 15% damage on elites is great, but up to 30% bonus on all trash + most blue packs usually makes up the difference for me. Then you can quick town portal as soon as RG spawns to swap back to Aughilds.

I was able to clear lvl 30 rift without Furnace, before 2 hander buff using Cold Leaper... your gear combo should allow for much higher than that.
