He's saying you essentially pull the boss against a wall / corner, then attempt to Whirlwind INTO the wall. If you are directly on top of the boss, every DD will hit them.

Diagrams make sense when you know what they're trying to show lol.

I'll give it a quick go too.

RG represents the Rift Guardian. B represents your Barb. m is where you are holding your cursor while Whirlwinding. You'll be attempting to move towards the boss, directly on top of them against the wall / corner.

Here is a video I made demonstrating the rings WORK perfectly fine, and apply damage on the FIRST hit, and both buffs apply to ALL damage.

That is what I mean by "they didn't appear to have the splash damage." I saw no red explosion graphic like the normal ancients did.

Well with the removal of the Drop buff, I wasn't able to get another Remorseless last night to re-test the IK bonus with procced ancients. I'm of the same opinion that procs shouldn't proc spells, but at the same time I have always wanted the item to enhance the ancients build more than it does.

I can save ya the time Mik. The ancients do NOT respond to any of the IK bonuses, Call of the Ancients spell, CotA Damage bonuses on gear or + Elemental damage in any way. Tested it on the PTR a few nights ago. Normal ancients were critting around 50 mil, the spawned ones were around 8 mil and didn't appear to have the splash damage.

Edit: according to Tactiks, the Remorseless ancients do proc the splash, but I wasn't seeing it at all. I'll check again tonight when I get home and report my findings here.

I didn't find any after 2 hours of Rift farming with the mega drop buff (+2000%), but I saw two pieces linked in Barb chat. Not sure if it's seasonal only.

Ancients keep Wrath up 100% without any issue. Tested it out in PTR last night with a few different setups.

    1.) 5Pc IK + RoRG + Tasker

    2.) 5Pc IK + RoRG + Dual Wield

    3.) 6Pc IK + Focus / Restraint Rings

The first two situations worked and I maintained 100% Wrath up-time with ZERO CDR, provided there were things to attack constantly. The third setup was less powerful than I had hoped. Ancients were too slow and I lost Wrath about 3/4 through the CD, even with nice density.

Dual Wield is the better option IMO, since you can get a Sunkeeper in your offhand and Elemental weapon of choice in MH. Ancients were doing around 50-75 mil per hit on the RG while Dual Wielding WITHOUT the Sun Keeper (Shard of Hate + Azurewrath Cold setup).

New Wrath Pants give you 50% Reduced damage, an extra 300% blood explosion and some Life per Fury to heal when needed and fit in perfectly with the setup. Shoulders + Bracers were Aughild's. Stone of Jordan for second Ring (or Unity if you still have survival issues). Really a solid build, every gear choice is easy to build up. Just need a sexy Amulet to complete the package (Hellfire for bonus passive if you are luckier than I in rolling a good one.)

Here's the build I used while testing with DW: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/barbarian#WSjPkR!XZjb!aZZZcc

The new Nerves of steel is a free life mechanic now. Procced it once in a GR 38, so it'll be more useful in the 40s.

No need for a calculator... pretty easy to figure out 10% of your damage (3105-3638) would add 310.5 - 364.8 damage range. Rolling the damage can only possibly yield 306 if you got perfect. 10% would be a bigger gain. Also, you could consider 10% CDR for more leaping, or Life per Fury spent (increased effect on ancient items) for more survivability. Being HC, I'd probably go for the healing.

posted a message on All-Inclusive Barbarian DPS Calc for 2.1! Skill Changes, Gems & Gear!
Whirlwind is a different animal... there are speed breakpoints involved. The calc will give you extremely accurate results for "character sheet" dps including all buffs (many of which you can check in-game), and helps see which gem / item / skill combo will pump up your damage the most. As for the skills portion of the calc, it is meant to be a general guideline.

Whirlwind doing 325% weapon damage per second means it's actually doing several smaller hits (roughly 108% per hit) every .33 seconds. As you increase attack speed, you can actually reach a point where you begin hitting 4 times per second for the same value, increasing the overall damage per second. The calc will not accurately show that. Also, all skill damage is based on single target, so something like WW doing damage to 4-5 targets begins to become "guess-work".

Overall, the calc will help you decide your build / gear combo to min / max that character sheet damage, which should translate well with skill selection.

posted a message on N00b question on Weapon Elemental Damange Type, Ideal Critical Chance and Ring of Royal Grandeur
You cannot roll an item with 20% Fire Damage to any other element. Certain items (Maximus, Axe of Sankis, Devestator) are dedicated Fire build items, and will not allow any other element. Odyn Son, Schaefer's Mallet are Lightning; Azurewrath, Utar's Roar, Wrath of Bone King are Cold; Doombringer, Heart Slaughter are Physical.

If you are set on lightning build, Thunderfury works very well for this reason: The Proc lightning it shoots off increases with your lightning skill bonuses. For dual wield, Odyn Son would be one of the best options. However, Thunderfury is a great weapon for any build since the proc does nice damage and adds a slow effect. Using fire skills with fire bonus weapons is great, just make sure you are working towards a goal. Usually you find a build you want to try, or an elemental focus, and build / save gear with that in mind.

As for main hand vs offhand... put the highest BASE damage weapon in your main hand. This means if Thunderfury does 1515-1815 damage and your fire weapon does 1620-1950, you'd put the fire weapon in main hand, regardless of what the DPS says. DPS is base damage per second based on weapon speed, but many skills only rely on the pure base damage of your main-hand to calculate damage done.

Not rocket science, but when you make a video about a build that someone already went into super detail about and has been used since the PTR with multiple variations, kinda makes it seem like you're trying to take credit for some grand idea. I'd say it's possible Mikhail didn't know about it on there, but doubtful since I see his stuff on there all the time. A simple "Similar to this build (insert reference) mentioned on official forums" or whatnot would have done it.

posted a message on Barbarian G32 - Call of the Ancients + Generator Build (Video)
I was curious to see if Aughild / RoRG / Witching would yield more damage than SoJ / Lacuni / IK belt, so I plugged all your gear / skills / paragon into my dps calc. I used 5 CHC, 50 CHD, 10 IAS with 485 Str for paragon to match your armory Str. With Insanity + Rampage active (along with your other buffs that are always up), your ancients each do approx 136 mil / sec. Swapping out those 3 items, the damage went down to approx 132 mil / sec. I guess the extra 90% crit damage is well worth ~18% fire + ~15% elite. Good stuff.

One thing you may consider: I swapped out weapon master for Ruthless, and the damage went up to approx 143.5 mil / sec. In my calc, I average Ruthless damage, multiplying 40% bonus x 30% of the time, yielding a 1.12 total multiplier to your damage. Might be worth trying that out.

If you swap out Rampage for Ruthless instead, you'd only have 122 mil / sec, but that would be 100% uptime damage (with instanity) without concern for rampage stacks. Might be helpful on RG since given your setup your ancients drop to 109 mil / sec without Rampage active.

Anyways, good video as usual! I'm looking for taskers now to do an ancient build on my seasonal barb. I found a Furnace already, but not a Tasker... go figure!

Well I am still unable to get it to work with a local saving feature, so here's the next best thing: The spreadsheet itself! There is a new link at the top to download the original spreadsheet used to create the webpage.

It is Excel 2007 file (.xlsx), and requires 2007 or newer to function due to some of the formulas. If you don't have Excel, I'm sorry but that's all can offer at the moment.

I'll continue to poke around with saving features, but this will allow you to save locally as many "builds" as you want!

So you have no idea how to do something, but you think it would be easiest? What you described would require creating an export command that spits each of the 120+ input fields out into some sort of notated file, then an import command to read that file, and know where to put all the information back into the form.

If it was as simple as that, I would have tried it. In fact, I have tried similar using cookies to save values from session to session, but it doesn't quite work. I appreciate the feedback, but considering how much work I have already put into this, unless someone has a good link to check out or is willing to help with the code-end of things, nothing will be changing in the near future.

If I had any idea how to do that sort of stuff, I would. I have also been trying to figure out a way to save the filled-out calc locally, so people could re-load previous "builds", but so far haven't gotten very far :(
