You said a quick description, so i'm not going to make this abig reply. I chose these skills for 1 simple reason, crowd control.
Wave of Force and Slow time will help control enemies and projectiles coming at me.
Disintegrate will be my main attack for line of sight and bosses.
Blizzard and Meteor are good for chaos fighting when needing to kill as much as possible all around my character.
Ice armor helps slow enemies attacking me for a quick get away. With the passive skill Galvanizing Ward, it provides additional time and healing.
Asteral Presense improves my regen to keep the spells coming.
Finally, evocation reduces cooldowns so I can keep putting out damage faster.
