It will be rainbows and ponies to troll people that hate the color scheme of the game, even though its much darker then most of D2. Would be a good touch.

Why chatrooms and other social features are not used in D3.

the real reason chatrooms aren't used in diablo 3 is because they haven't been added in

    /thread

yes, they have. Its the exact same as SC2

posted a message on Why chatrooms and other social features are not used in D3.
I am going to make it very clear to everyone how deceptive Blizzard really is to its fans. Over the last 6 years, in the World of Warcraft the social development has massively improved upon when the knowledge and technology was present. If anyone recalls while D2 was being developed, they wanted to try to create guilds and guild banks. Unfortunately, it was excluded on release because they never had the technology to do it at the given time. The idea was later used in WoW which became the core social structure. With the release of Starcraft 2, battle.net 2.0 arrived promising a brighter future for online gaming then its previous version, but the only thing that really came out of it was Real I.D and everything in Starcraft 2 were very basic.

Does it not strike you as odd that none of these systems were implemented or inspired new systems for Starcraft 2 or Diablo 3?

In both Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3, it’s the exact opposite of WoW, they deter you from interacting with others. Immediately when you log into World of Warcraft it gives you a greetings in the chat box and you see the guild message of the day. Without any effort, you have a chat box which automatically joins to specific channels setup, but in D3 and SC2 you do not even have a chat box. Yes, you have a friends list and there are basic channels but there is no legitimate way to interact will multiple people conveniently and feel like you are part of a certain group. Instead, you are left with terrible chats and this massive friends list that is really unnecessary.

What does World of Warcraft have to do with this?

Well, this is by far their best source of generating consistent monehhhh, in a game which is completely based around a community. So, restricting social interaction as much as possible on other Blizzard titles without becoming too obvious will naturally make people with World of Warcraft, continue playing it without another one of Blizzard’s games ultimately stealing a player which results in less money.

    What does B.Net 2.0 offer?

Well, the only thing is Real I.D. That’s it. I call it the WoW leash, because that’s what it is. It allows guildies / friends in WoW to call you back over. It’s very convenient since SC2 and Diablo 3 are not time consuming and for the most part can almost be left instantly with no negative repercussions.

In the end it’s always about money, and World of Warcraft is a cash cow. They do not want their other games to become cannibals, taking away monthly subscriptions from WoW. Thus, excluding as much interaction as possible to make WoW players unconsciously migrate back to it. Every player suffers from this, including players that do not play World of Warcraft. This is the beast that Blizzard has become, and very deceptive at that. Social structure in any game will make you play it longer, players bonding which create communities and communities keep games going. Why is it that external sources such as websites and forums are used when we have technology available to do this in game.

posted a message on Quirky Trapper build based on Sentry / Chains of Torment
I have a similiar build, pretty much based entirely around sentries. Its a bit different but its pretty simple. Stack crit = profit. Eventually getting enough crit to get rid of sharpshooter for perfectionist. Bola will be good single target discpline generator with high crit and caltrops will increase your crit more aswell as slow. I wasn't a big fan of entangle shot in beta, since one caltrop did what several entangle shots would do with a lot less effort. I am not a big fan of DH, but this is one style of build I am keeping track of.

posted a message on To those complaining about the new rune system...
    here is a simple answer:

In diablo 2, you had your core skills by 50 (which is the half way point), after that it was a matter of fine tuning your gear and pumping points into skills that give synergy. The way the old runestone system reflected this style well, you get to 30 unlock all abilities (the half way point) and from then on it was a matter of leveling up items and runestones for more damage etc. The new system is forcing you to level up and gather gear for a build you really want to try which would require some runes level 40 +, so you are wasting a lot of time collecting items for a build that might not work. Where as before you could experiment with whatever build you wanted early on and build gear up after you found one you liked. Its forcing you to play styles you don't really want to play and gives you runestones with no effort, which is boring and does not feel rewarding. The old runestone system also encouraged you to play one build if you want to excel higher, where as the new one you can switch anytime elimaniting the unqiue feeling of everyone having different builds and overall the life span of the game. I mean, if you can switch to any build you want...its just a matter of switching some items and thats it.

Modern gamers are concidered idiots by the game designers. Back in the day you sat down and learned by playing and it was good! You didn't need a tutorial because it was all kind of self-explanatory (atleast the good ones were). Take a look at Egoraptor's sequelitis where he talks about Mega Man X, he really hits his head on the nail when it comes to modern game design (it's very funny too if you havn't seen it). :D

posted a message on Would you Buy Beta Access if Blizzard Sold it?
Paying is not worth it. I don't know what the big deal is about beta, i have gotten into every beta since Wrath.....I honestly don't know why, I bash them into the ground if something is wrong and get banned repeatitively from forums for my language. It honestly ruins the game for you and you see it go from good to bad to good to bad to worse. You see how they polish, you see how they start making poor choices after X period and once again like the others....its happening with Diablo 3. It doesn't matter how much feedback you give, they have a set path and they will do it whether the majority like it or not.

Patch 13, just the idea and their reasoning behind the new rune system and UI makes no sense. If you look back on DIablo 2, you would have your core abilities by level 50(maxed) and it would be a matter of filling out synergys and passives to increase the damage output as well as gearing. I don't know why people don't see that, and the new system is forcing you to almost get max level before you even get the runestones you want, during this time you will be collecting gear for a build that MIGHT not work. Playing around with clunky UI and poor decisions is not something you want to see. I was hoping I wouldn't get it, but sadly I did and I feel obliged to try and give feedback so they might just hear my words and others so the game will be great for PC gamers and real Diablo fans. Blizzard has lost their gaming heart back in late Burning Crusade and has since gotten comfortable with perfecting a cash cow and it has shown on SC2 and is showing on D3.
