i never said my monitor was the problem? and i fully realize some games I wont get 144FPS on. especially at max settings. however Diablo i knew i should have been able to, at least because, like my OP said, my friend was getting 144 in game with the same build so i knew i should have been too.

    and now i am!

    alright, to answer the questions:

V-Sync in game is off, but on in nVidia Controls, tried it off there too, no difference. Tried setting and not setting Foreground/Background FPS, no difference.

    1) I've tried both 32 and 64 bit. i notice about 10 FPS more in 32 bit, but i run it in 64 even still.

    2) Don't have numbers off the top of my head for usage, but CPU isn't being maxed and neither was GPU. I've monitored them

    3) G-Sync is on, noticed hitching when it was off, I couldn't deal with it, but it didn't make a difference off FPS wise.

4)Update to Windows 10 back when it was released. Yes, its the same OS from my previous build, I just installed the Drive into the new build. I removed all the old drivers, a clean install was my next step.

    5) CPU isn't overclocked. 4.5 is just the Turbo Boost.

    6) GPU isn't overclocked yet either.

    7) this is how i run the game.

Another thing I forgot to mention is i see no performance increase if i turn down the settings, or switch it back to 1080p. which doesn't make sense.

As I mentioned, i reinstalled the game, but that was last night, havent tested it since. MAYBE that fixed it. if it doesn't, freshly installing Win10 is my next step.

    Thanks for the input everyone!

I started looking around this site for some answers, but I am at work and can't try anything currently, and I wanted to get this out there in case anyone is able to throw out some ideas that I can try tonight.

So i recently built a new PC and i can't get 144fps with it?

    i7-7700k @4.5Ghz
    Gigabyte GTX 1080
    16GB DDR4 RAM 3200Mhz
    Windows 10 x64
    Gigabyte z270 k5 Board
    Dell S2716DG G-Sync 1440p 144Hz 1ms

i get anywhere between 60-80fps. occasionally getting higher. often getting lower. The VERY first time i booted up my system and played the game i was getting 130fps and above rarely dipping. but since, i get the aforementioned fps. I've removed all old drivers from my system (my OS is from my previous build), reinstalled D3, reinstalled my graphics drivers. D3 is installed on an SSD. about the only thing I haven't done is do a clean install of Windows.

Other games get 144Hz, and my benchmarks are all where they should be, and stress tests are all clean, so i know its not a faulty card/CPU. because i do get over 60, i know its not vSync enabled in game, and in the menu i get 144.

Here is the kicker though. My friend has a nearly identical build to mine, and he gets 144 no problem (his specs listed below). the only difference i can think of is he is plugged into the internet, where i have to use WiFi. would this really hinder FPS? my latency is no difference then his.

Can anyone think of what could be going on? i would normally chaulk it up to bad optimization, but he's getting the desired FPS. Thanks for your help guys. If this needs to be in a different section, please move it.

    Friend's Specs:
    i7-6600k @4.6Ghz
    GTX 1080 Founder's
    16GB DDR4 RAM 3000MHz
    Windows 10 x64
    Asus z170 Board
    Dell S2716DG G-Sync 1440p 144Hz 1ms
