D2 had threat tables so that mobs could decide on which player to chase. There were a lot of variables involved, including gear and level, but I think you get the point

I don't even agree with the OP, but people that have no clue on how the mechanics of a game work shouldn't try to make others look like idiots.

Until you already have that legendary and it drops again. Then you're eventually stuck deciding between is it worth playing while having next to no chance of getting an upgrade vs torturing yourself trying to get perfect gear on the console which makes it hard to trade.

I think D3 was a testament to how long the majority(read not us) will play an ARPG that they aren't getting upgrades in or a real sense of progression. Paragon can only help so much.

"Torture" yourself? Having D3 as a Testament? If anything, this would be the time for celebrations if anything, given the oncoming updates.

I like finding upgrades but the simple fact of the matter is with good loot dropping frequently getting upgrades becomes harder. It's just a fact of how the system works. I think long term without the rose tinted glasses.

Do you understand how much harder it is to find an item that has 6 perfect stats vs an item that has 6 top 5 % rolls vs 6 top 10% rolls? The torture is trying to get perfect gear with the trade system on the console.

My point is that when d3 launched ppl quit because getting an upgrade was few and far between and the content wasn't tuned properly. With loot 2.0, if the console is any indication, getting upgrades will come fast at first and rapidly diminish.

It's going to be the same thing but this time you'll have a higher quality set of gear before you hit the "no upgrade/progression". It's a fine system for me because I want perfect gear. But for the majority, they don't care about a 1-2% difference. At least not enough to keep "hunting" for that drop.

All that I'm saying is improved drops are a good and bad thing. Very few people care to look at all angles though.

What do you mean by security? Securing against dupes and cheats? That crossed my mind as well and is a valid concern. Online, however, it's quite easy to detect dupes because of the unique item IDs (server-side). As long as the online requirement stays, I'm fairly certain there won't be any dupes.

Securing against botters? Don't think so, remember good old D2 when they even banned lots of "false positives" in their HUGE ban waves and banned people in question (and weren't as willing to un-ban afterwards as they are now in D3).

They have done the hardest part, removing the AH. Now it's easy to deal with gold : remove it completely (remove also the repair system that is completely pointless, and make the dyes free). Crafting remains exactly the same, without gold costs.
