D3 has clearly suffered from feature creep, and an awfully long time in research; all for the better of course. Quite happy it's happening, but then I don't care for PvP one bit. I bet Force and crew are quite sad though =p

PvP continued to feel slapped on, I'm not surprised it came down to this. Hopefully this temporary sacrifice will get us the game, heck just the freakin' announcement double time.

Did you try to replicate it and bug report it? No one wants this kind of issue going in to harder stuff! ;)

every hit gives u 6 spirit. exploding palm need 40 to use. do the calculation alone ;>

If you say this to me, read my post.I said pre patch 14 when it was still a generator. I did that cause I still don't know the new stuff by heart.

But regardless, the math will potentially become irrelevant in the future as afaik +%spirit generation is still a stat in the game to be found on higher level gear. So hopefully with time and luck, you'll grow to need less and less generators before wanting to use whatever Spender you want.
I'm hoping the Daibo get this stat reliably so the discrepancy is compensated for a bit with dual wielding.

    Again I don't have the game so I can't confirm this for you but it's basically just 112 112 112 112.

Perhaps a better example from PRE patch 14:

    1= Way of 1000 fists
    2= Exploding Palm

    1 1 2

You do the larger damage from fists, and you finish with Exp Palm, getting the bleed strike.

Are you thinking that a spirit generator is 3 hits in one? Because they're not, you execute them separately but in a relatively short time frame. So you could even have a 3rd generator and combo 1 2 3 or 3 2 1, etc.

The idea is probably to combo. So for example use FoT for the first 2 attacks and then Crippling Wave on the 3rd. One of the inspirations for Monk class was fighting games so it's not surprising to see them use this pigeon hole, though understandably many people don't see the point in having a second generator.

The point is that later on in-game you get a bonus for combining skills. Can't remember what the skill is, but the whole point of the monk is to throw in combos.

Isn't that the passive? That makes it optional. I remember them wanting to make a generator heavy build monk viable so they threw that passive in there. You know, like how there's a passive or two to help melee wizards get around.

I have a question about Spirit generators that I hope someone can answer:

Using the calculator, I see Sprit generators under Primary and under Techniques. Both of these skill pools are spammable (no cooldowns) and seem to attack very fast - does that mean "Techniques" are a replacement/alternative to "Primary", and you would just pick 1 of these skills as your Sirit generator, or would you use 1 of each in combination?

I just dont see how you can use 2 generators when none of them have cooldowns - you cant cast 2 spammable abilities at the same time, and even if you alternate between 1 than the other, it will be no faster than just spamming 1 OR the other.

With the Barbarian you can do things like warcry (cooldown) + leap (cooldown) + ground stomp (cooldown) + cleave (spam) to generate Fury - so you only have 1 spammable fury generator while the others are utility abilities that give Fury, however for the Monk I don't see how it works as all of his utility spells consume Spirit and only his spammable skills can generate Spirit.

    Anyone got an ideas?

    Thx

Yep, gotta replan too. I was going for Deadly Reach and Exploding as my generators...and I really want to play with 2 generators for the combo/flexibility feel. So I think I may have to get rid of something else...garrr

In a way it makes sense though. A lot of the generators were doing nothing special at all for their first 2 phases and it lets EP have a greater sense of impact as that awesome last hit kind of feeling a la Kenshiro ;)
I'm actually mostly worried about the spirit cost. I'm not in beta so I can't tell but from what I read about spirit complaints and such is that at 40 spirit you certainly won't be using it as much as one might want to. I guess you have to save it for that awesome moment you're sure of that you'll get the kill in 3 seconds.

I can see where they want to go with these changes but it's going to take some time to get used to. I was so looking forward to my build =(

Oh how amusing. The retailer I typically visit here in NL has changed to May. Cute. I know, I know....

Strange though. The moment I woke up today, I lost faith in an april release, and I've even lost faith in getting the announcement this week. Guess it was a 2 day high or something.

Except on the site it says may 30th now =(

But Bart Smit had the April 19th pinned before this Italian leak.

I have more reason to think the 17th could be true, after some research.

Bart Smit, a retailer here in the Netherlands a few weeks ago posted april 19th. That's thursday, normally the day we get new games here. Blizzard games are typically the exception though and release on tuesdays. HOWEVER, this is not true for all retailers. I've experienced this one first hand.

I went to buy SC2 at a normal retailer and they didn't have it, yet some other random store did so apparently some do go with the worldwide Tuesdays while others (for unknown reasons) don't. Bart Smit is a pretty plain toy store so it wouldn't surprise me if they're not getting it on the world street date.
As a cherry on top, the retailer I usually visit nowadays has also set their date for April, though no day. What's interesting though is that from my experience they usually don't follow dates from rumors, and if they do, they are very slow to pick up on them. Offical data though they're very quick with. They were at least before me in finding out about Twisted Metal (EU) and Batman AC (Pc version) getting delayed.

I honestly hate myself for believing the April date because I've had my money on May for quite a long time now: ever since the delay was announced last year actually. But damn are there some fingers pointing that way. At least from my perspective.
I even dreamed the announced release date was today and that it would come out March 28th. It sucked to wake up! lol

2 hander. The main reason is because the Monk was introduced to me as a staff user and that appealed to me a lot. when I heard he'd be able to dual wield I wasn't surprised, but I still wanted to use the staff. Basically, because I think it's the coolest way to play.
The inherent slower attack speed also gives a greater illusion of impact/weight behind the attacks.

Secondly, it's easier to compare. Dual wielding almost always brings more math with it. It did in D2, WoW and looks like D3 again. I know that once you figure out and routine it it should be a fluent process but I'm not so great with numbers. When I pick up a weapon I want to see if it's replacing what I'm using asap to get back to demon killing.
You don't have to do any math, the game does it for you.

Ok cool. Having watched those 2 movies I guess I got the wrong idea. But my 1st reason still outweighs the latter =)

I sort of did, but a while ago and not all at once. It was actually to cover all 3 Blizzard titles and at the time, hopefully still, GW2.

    i5 2400 (I dont OC so no 2500k)
GTX 460 1GB (an older upgrade)
    6 GB RAM

Heck yeah. I was turning toward the Monk as I was watching the trailer for the first time when it was announced. When the trailer finished, my main was set in stone. I have yet to waver from that decision.
