Bleu42 posted a message on World of DiabloBlizzard is not only a part of diablo, they made diablo what it is today. North wanted diablo to be a turn based claymation rpg, blizzard changed that. I for one would not be in love with diablo if it had stayed the same. Take a look at the 2005 D3 screenshots that North wanted. Terrible. they looked almost worse than D2, and I loved D2.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Not only is Blizzard moving Diablo in the right direction, it's because of direct action from Blizzard that we love diablo the way we do today, even D1 and D2.
1. Not sure if that's a typo, but wow never had a single player option.
2. nitty gritty dark graphics were because of an extremely limited color pallet, and even more limited computers that customers used.
3. light radius was almost completely taken out in D2, so not really sure where you're going with that. Half + of D2 you couldn't even notice if you had light radius on. Also, you haven't seen 1/100th of D3's dungeons, which they've stated change from well lit (the cathedral) to dark.
4. Stat points actually gave you less options, because you were committed to them. D3 you choose your stats by choosing gear, giving players more options.
5. Character diversity? D3 is using the 5 basic archetypes, and actually have made them far more interesting than D1 and D2 imo. -

lMarcusl posted a message on 10 Character Limit, Runed Way of the Hundred Fists, Poll, ScreenshotsOk, I think I've heard enough. So, for all you folks who can't understand why anybody would build more than 10 characters: I'm a hardcore diablo player (not as in hardcore mode, I just love diablo). Since the revelation of the skill calculator, I have designed 13 character builds that I want to play and finish the game with. And that's not accounting for hardcore and for multiplayer, that's just singleplayer, non-harcore characters. And I haven't even played the game yet! Guess how much the number of possible characters will increase once I actually touch the game and try out PvP or hardcore. Every character build requires: a) Different gear with b ) different enchantments and c) different gems d) different companion with e) different items f) different runes in different skills g) different specialisation in artisans. Don't you try telling me that it will be easier for me to switch out every single one of these things if I want to play three different builds of a barbarian, than for blizzard to allow say 15 character slots instead of 10. Besides that, respeccing your character to a different build doesn't give you the playthrough value. If I finish the game (lvl 60, beat inferno) with a frenzy barbarian and then respec him into a juggernaut how will that allow me to do a new playthrough when the game is already beaten and I'm on max level? People who say that you can just respec your character if you want a different build obviously haven't thought about it enough.Posted in: News & Announcements -

Having the ranking on top of the avatar is a bit awkward, would much rather have usernames there, and not on the red bar. -

Azjenco posted a message on Rare and Champion Loot > Boss LootI think it's good, but, and this is a HUGE but (I know, that sounds very funny when you say it out loud :P).Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
I think the best drops in the game should be when you kill a boss for the first time. In fact, it should be twice as good as unique/champion drops. Afterwards it should be on par or less than unique/champions.
The reason why I say this is, the first time I kill an act boss, I want it to be difficult and I want to feel rewarded for completing a milestone like that, I feel it's very important. If you go and kill a boss the second time, then your just farming it, so then the loot deserves to be crappy. -

Kardax2 posted a message on Rare and Champion Loot > Boss LootIt's a good thing. Repeatedly running bosses is predictable and boring; being able to efficiently farm everywhere will keep the game fresh.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
It runs counter to RPG conventions, but makes Diablo 3 a better game.

Prunetracy posted a message on Potential cash out issue for BlizzardThere's a reason for blizzard to have a % based gold fee on the gold AH: it's a gold sink. there's no reason for them to do the same for the RMAH. In fact, to do so would hurt the viability of the RMAH, so I don't see it happening.Posted in: Old Trading
I think most likely you're looking at a listing fee under a dollar (my guess is $0.25)and at most a 5% cashout fee (paypal's current fees to send money are 2.9%). That's plenty within reason.
Until we have real numbers, it's kinda pointless to speculate further. If fees cost a player 30% per transaction, yes they'd have a problem. That's why I don't think they'll be anywhere near that high. Blizzard isn't stupid, and they want the RMAH to succeed. -

Prunetracy posted a message on Potential cash out issue for BlizzardUntil we have details as to exactly how the system works, this is just speculation.Posted in: Old Trading
The RMAH isn't going to shut down all third party activities, and Blizzard didn't expect it to. It will shut down the majority of it, however. Most players would rather take a slightly smaller payout for the safety and security of going through Blizzard. Now how high that difference has to be before players will seek other means is going to vary (I have no idea where you're getting 30% from).
I think you also have to keep in mind that selling prices are not going to be the same on third party AH sites either. If I can buy the item for $30 in game, why the hell would I pay the same $30 to a third party site that isn't safe? Therefore, listing prices on third party sites will be lower. As the seller, you might lose less to fees, but you also won't be able to sell for as much either.
So how much cheaper does an item have to be for a buyer to be willing to take the risk? I'd say for most buyers, at least 10-15%. I suspect that will be more than the transaction costs of going through Blizzard, meaning the seller would end up with more going legit anyway. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.
