I'm glad to announce that I'll be making some diablo 3 strips and cartoons for this forum!
I have a ton of work to deliver right now, but I'll make some free time in my schedule for this project. I will do my best to keep updates coming on a weekly basis.
So, first things first, these are some of thetortured soulscharacters that will join us in our journey!
FIZZ, THE BARBARIAN!
Full Name: Fizz Icks, of the Moon. ..no pun intended.
PILLAR, THE MONK!
Likes: Meditation, temples, pillars, bells, all sorts of monk stuff.
DOC, THE WITCH DOCTOR
Fun fact: His mother was a Witch, and his father was a Doctor
ARIA, THE WIZARD!
Full Name: Aria Offeh Fect.
RAVEN and FERRET, DEMON HUNTERS
Lots of hatred, zero discipline.
Team is ready to go, stay tunned for more! -

There isn't a separate EU beta, everyone is connecting to the US servers. Invites have gone out globally -- have seen forum confirmations and bug reports from EU / Canada / Australia.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion -

Thander posted a message on What about ladder?I don't think so. One of the blues (Bashiok maybe?) said they were thinking along the lines of CoD games. Every match whether you win or lose, you get some "xp" that goes toward your multiplayer rank. Winners get more xp than losers, but you never lose xp. Everyone can eventually get to the highest rank. I'm not sure what the ranks would be for Diablo 3 but CoD games have military ranks like Sergeant, Corporal, etc. Good players (and teams) will get to the highest rank much faster than bad players (or teams), but everyone can get there eventually. It's just a matter of how much time you put in.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Edit: I realized your probably talking about a PvE ladder. No, to that as well. There are no ladder resets or anything like that. As long as duping is under control, they don't need ladders like that. -

Maybe they don't want to burn out their coders and maintain a jovial work enviroment where people actually look forward to coming into. I know making video games would seem like a dream job but working 12 hour shifts, is still working 12 hour shifts.
There seems to be some still moving parts in the game and coupled with some of the isssues of bnet 2.0 and the rmah and a brief look at blizz history, not making the 2011 target window really isn't too much of a shock. -

Diablo 3 is finished.
LOL
Having spent the past weeks digging through the data files and looking at the changes that have come since the original beta client build up through the current build 7338 (Patch 3), I can tell you the game most certainly is *not* done.
A few examples:
* An extra salvage treasure class was added to the item tables (ie internal data structures are still in flux)
* Many Legendary/Set items have associated affixes that aren't being applied due to affix level restrictions
* Many Legendary/set items are in the data files, but don't actually have any stats yet
* Some icons are still missing for items
* etc
Activision was most likely pushing for a holiday release for financial reasons, but at their latest status meeting the D3 team decided that they just weren't going to be able to make that deadline so they pushed the release date. (If they wanted to meet that date they really only have a little over a month left before the game would have to go Gold Master and be packaged and shipped to retailers. They could still have a patch on release, but testing release builds takes considerably longer than developer/beta builds so even that doesn't buy them all that much time.) -

Listen, none of us are happy about this. Also, none of us know what the state of the game really is. Would we be happy with what they've got by the end of the year? Maybe. Or maybe we'd be flooding the forums complaining about the bugs and broken mechanics and bemoaning Blizzard for delivering a poor experience and breaking their usual level of quality. It's easy to say "just give it to us" now, we might not be so happy if we got what we asked for.
We all enjoy the bar Blizzard sets for itself in regards to quality; this is price we pay for the luxury of that.
Blizzard only gets one chance to launch Diablo 3 and have the monstrous initial media / fan impression. Even if they zero-day patched the game into perfection, they'd catch seriously bad press for shipping a broken game. It'd be bad for us, bad for them.
That all said, no one was a more staunch defender / believer of a 2011 launch date than myself, so trust me I'm as upset as anyone. At this point I'm just looking forward (hopefully) to beta, as like many here I've never had the opportunity to play any iteration of D3 at all, as of yet. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure you don't just pick 6 spells, and that's all you have. You simply only have access to 6 spells at any one time. For example, at level 6 you'll "unlock" another spell slot. You will have access to all spells at that level, and simply have the option of including one of those new spells as your third spell. You would be able to change out your three spells somehow.
