Just a quick peek at your problem: ET is better than AO the higher the GR you go. ET does a lot more damage than AO even if its harder to control and play.
You don't necessarily need aether walker, you can just swap out one of your passives, like blur --> Illusionist. Problem fixed. You will get constantly hit for enough to reset your slow time: exhaustion and teleport: safe passage, fixing both your problems at the same time and you can still use the furnace in the cube if you want!
The one problem with the aether walker I can see is it uses Arcane Power, not much but still means you will fire off less twisters and lowering your twister count and hence dps. I think there is a lot of room for experimentation for you and your cubed weapon since you have such a nice twisted sword.
I haven't even found an ancient twisted sword, so I have that cubed and I don't have a good aether walker either, so I am stuck using what ever ancient weapon that gives me the most damage (I think it happens to be the wand one that gives 40% cool down on slow time, which is almost pointless with illusionist active, I might be able to get another 1-2 slow times of once in awhile but its not useful,) I am a casual player and have managed a GR 69 with my get up (which is pretty much the same as yours, aside from the formentioned changes.) I don't even have an ancient Etched Orb!! If I had the sword and orb you have I would blow pass GR 70 long ago! So you can definitely do GR 60 with your gear!
One other difference I noted is I am using a unity ring instead of a convention of elements, makes the rifts much safer, I think with some fishing this week I could probably do a GR 70. I hope that ancient orb/sword drop for me soon.
Add: I have better AO gear, but I find the gameplay of AO to be a lot less fun and dynamic, it gets monotonous very quickly. I don't think ET is very squishy at all, try the unity ring thing. I am not even using esoteric gem any more, and have switched over to pain enchancer and have no issues with survivalbility.
