As always, great post.
I'm very happy with the skill point changes, in d2 it was always the same, get prerequisite, put points in this ability for twenty levels, and now put my next twenty levels in my other ability. Most of the time if felt like filler, I feel this a a nice fresh approach.
With the "auto stat distribution" at level up I think this is a chance you might actually feel some power increase at each level; unlike D2 I normally didn't notice much difference unless I finally got the gear upgrade.
I'm very happy with the new theoretical rune approach. Current version = yay I'm uber in my first week... now what? The new approach will allow for more longevity and an opportunity to try some of the other rune abilities I would normally not try. People also seem to be unsettled at the idea that this will be a waste of a rune, but it could enhance one of your other abilities... maybe not your focused skills but I don't think any rune will be a waste.
This would likely be great for early to mid game, end game may be a pain with the greyed out feature but if you actually find the proper abilities and stats you want it will be that much more fulfilling, i.e. if you found a zod every 2 hours of game playing in d2 = flooded market and everyone would be bored in a month. I remember the first time I found a Ber for the first time, I was buzzing for days.
I can understand people's frustration on the unknown rune type, the only two cents I could offer would be keep the rune colors visible but make the "more sought after" runes less likely to drop to compensate. I'm also loving the random stats, adds more flavor for the trade community.

I could also say be happy the developers even did anything because they have no obligation to do so. People seem to take for granted that additional content that Blizzard provides for free is expected where as many people charge for such things. It's a game chill the fuck out,

Unless you are taking consistent damage it will be impossible to to stay under 25% life. If your mitigation ends up being so high you barely take any damage you'll hit the 25% even quicker.
Overall damage will be very low and increasing your defensive values will drop your offense even more. Cool idea though.

2) Buying perspective? You can't buy anything in RoS... you have to FIND everything. Most gear becomes obsolete immediately when RoS comes out. Gold is only useful for extra enchanting attempts off the hop. Crafting and Gem is irrelevant since nobody has the new tiers or materials.
3) If you want to dump an extra 1000's hours just to have a couple hundred more paragon levels lol thats just fine with me. Getting paragon levels in RoS will be quicker than all the time wasted grinding pre RoS. Extra points won't make someone 1000X times better than you and what do you care if someone can farm 10 minutes faster than you if they put in 1000 more hours than you?
4) All new gear will make old gear obsolete ( for the most part) and you can't craft anything until you get the new mats.... so it's basically a gear wipe.
5) There is no economy in RoS. All time you put in the game pre RoS should be fun not grind, everything you obtain now is a waste of time in comparison of money/exp/gear you will obtain in RoS.

You could power level in every single Diablo release so far....

Elemental damage changed enough that specific items that increase a certain element make it worth while to have a element build. Many abilities have been changed to a certain element so if you find a + lightning % damage Legendary it will be worth while to use abilities that focus on lightning based attacks. Wizards have also been changed so that element builds can exist based on their ability revamp.

Tried it and stopped after a month. The main issue is there is no progression, your capped at what ever the level is for whatever your doing so gear has less meaning and since you can use any build you want at any time you never really get to obtain new abilities that you get excited for when leveling. The leveling up trees are meh as far as character investment are.
Basically everything can kicks your ass at any time. Use ability 1 then 2 then 3 and if X happens use X and X repeat over till you kill your target. The fluid combat is nice but everything just becomes a standard routine like WoW.
I also played when the game first game out so there were a lot of bugs and broken quests. A LFG function would have been nice as finding people to help out in story dungeons was difficult (guess WoW spoiled me)... I'm sure things have changed since then.
I think I'm just turned off from MMORPG's as in the end they are all similar to WoW in some sense, so you might as well play WoW... Until some revolutionizing game sets new standards I'll stay away. The most interesting alternative I've come across is EvE and I'm sure it's older or around the same age as WoW.
