posted a message on I still hate the new art direction
    Quote from Cyber_Cheese

After all this time, I still detest what Blizzard is doing with the art direction.
They say it gets darker later on, but from the screenshots, the areas like King Leoric's tomb which should be really dark still look horribly cartoony.
    Am I alone in this?
Fair enough. My main gripe with this isn;t the opinion. Heck you can think whatever you like. That's the joy of an opinions. My thing is... no one EVER gives suitable alternatives. Ok, yeas people have taken a few screens into PS and upped contrasts and shifted things to near sepia tone levels. Listen to a few dev panels and they will say why those types of aesthetics simply do not work. Things like juxtaposition and readability being key reasons for not doing it the way some fans felt it should be.

Show me some games you think look leagues above this and then a dialog can begin. Though this conversation has been beaten to death time and time again that I can't even picture something new and insightful being brought forth by renewing it's discussion.

From personal experience, played the Blizzcon 2008 demo. Ive gotta say some of the stuff they had in Old Tristram trumps the heck out of anything gory or dark from Diablo 1 or 2. And that was while playing in a loud, busy convention hall. A place not at all ideal for absorbing the nuances of a spooky game. Yet even there I was yanked into the dark atmosphere.

posted a message on Character Naming
I'd imagine it would work more like SC2 than WoW's system. Diablo 3 players are not grouped together in a persistent world type server. We group up with 3 other players into our own playable world each time. It wouldn't make much sense to restrict name usage when we are only ever interacting with 3 other ppl at a time. Who knows though.

It's good to see who gets pissed from this type of thing. It helps me keep a list of folks not to play co-op with when the time comes.

I have a bunch of books I hope to read as well as doing lots and lots of personal paintings. Every game I have picked up this year so far has run out of steam very fast. Time to explore my other areas of interest.

    All I saw was:

    Normal difficulty only.

What the fuck is your problem, Blizzard? You do -everything- right, and then fuck it up right there in a single strike.

I'm not playing your fucking coop and your incentive just pisses me off as a single player guy.

What the fuck is up with today's thinking that playing with players is better, anyway. Seriously? My worse experience in gaming are all related to the shitty communities that comes with them. Don't try to force me into that crap, and give options to everybody.

I can't take this anymore. What kind of stupid developers do they have. So infuriating.
Isn't there a blog you can create for this type of vitriol?

Do people ever just get excited about things? I guess I am a casual gamer because I totally do not look at features in an analytical way. I look at something and think about how it will add to the immersion, story or my gameplay experience. How frustrating life must be when things that are inherently fun and for leisure become points of contention and unrest in the eyes of those that play the games. What is the point? A lot of it also seems to be contrary for the sake of trying to play devil's advocate every single time something is shown.

From my standpoint I am very much excited to have the followers be added depth to my solo play experience and story of the game.

posted a message on Wizard B-Roll?
The version I downloaded back when is a lower res video and was broken into two separate files.

It's the whole Wizard B-Roll from Blizzcon2008 but I was wondering if there was a download link to a singular, higher res version akin to the Monk or Demon Hunter B-Rolls.

And to save everyone the inevitable headache of frustration... Please don't link the reveal trailer or something. I have that and it is high res. I am speaking of this video, the download I have is basically 360p or something dismal. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WAJC6CCoFRQ

Or was that how it was released? O.o

I like all three but probably the Templar for my WD and the ranged options for my Bard and Monk.

    SO excited. *SQUUEEE*

Other than that I've watching it like 15 times going frame by frame, nothing hidden it seems.

Really - you didn't notice the waypoint or the resistance icons flipping?
Yeah idk. At the blizzcon demo the WD felt like his spells were very physical and in your face. I think something like the Templar is just a nice pad between you and some of the hard hitting physical damage dealers. I figure you could also pair yourself with something else or just get up in monsters faces with him :)
