    Quote from Babycake

Is it possible it could affect Europe somehow..? It sounds terrible from what I've read from LoL forum, I am against! But I'm from EU, so probably I have no right for a word on this.

Even if foreign you can still help. If you have any American friends/acquaintances you can help persuade them to act. Or keep informing people over the Internet itself.

    Quote from argile_cruiser

How would the PIP Act effect games?
(and btw SOPA is like the prohibition of the internet)

PIPA itself goes against basic US Constitutional rights of free speech on the Internet. In a loose summary, the act allows the US government to crackdown/ban on any material that it deemed "offensive," this of course can translate into many obvious harmful effects.

Bad luck there, maybe try to personally call their office or make an informed rebuttal reply (but polite) might hopefully persuade them.

posted a message on Riot Games takes a stand against SOPA/PIPA
    http://na.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?t=1696462

Riot Games, the game company who created League of Legends, has taken a stand against the discussed bills of Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) in the Senate and Protect IP Act (PIPA) in the House of Representatives.

Not only does the post cover how these bills will affect the Internet, but it shows initiative from the game industry.

I've just e-mailed the Representative and both Senators of California to take a stance against the bills and by bringing the message here to DiabloFans, I hope you guys do too.

Why must people die in institutes of higher learning? This is suppose to be a haven for academics not a primary target for gunmen to instill fear into people.

Either way the shooting is sad yes, but who would've thought it would take place again in Virginia Tech?

Finally figured out how to do action shots, I think this one turned out well (even though I sacrificed a fourth of my health potion supply for it [was worth it])

I sympathize with your plight but it is kind of your fault, even I still possess the retail package with my rig.

I dunno if anyone encountered this. But in Whiterun where you meet the old lady (Haldia, I think, names starts with an H) and requests you to meet her in her house to discuss the missing guy. Well I talked to her but the quest seems frozen and won't go any further.

Just gonna throw this in here, the government has shut down big corporations before and almost shut down Microsoft but didn't due to that such an action would make Bill Gates only even richer than he was at the time.

im aware the government has shut down companies thats nothing new. but huh? how would shutting down microsoft make him richer? and WHY were they going to shut it down?

Trusts. When a monopoly is shutdown and split, new companies form and trusts are formed between them generating mass revenue (due to being interconnected). This is what happened early on the automobile industry, the early telephone industry (whose split became AT&T, Verizon, etc.), and the railroad industry. Due to how anti-trust America is they deemed it better to reach an agreement with Microsoft rather than repeating another monopoly shutdown to prevent another trust fiasco.

    Quote from WishedHeHadBeta
im saying all of them. if youtube got shut down other sites like it would pop up, heck theres hundreds of youtube sites on the internet. if they simultaneously closed all those sites, your extremely ignorant to believe people would do nothing, not even mentioning that the people who own those sites generate so much money they could literally have people killed and change congress's decision if they actually got shut down. or just have their companies based in countries that dont extradite or care and then problem solved, all sites are back up in a week. the government can TRY whatever they want, doesnt mean they will succeed in the least.

If you believe this, you misunderstand the bill.

Lets say Youtube is shut down. They then reopen Youtube in a modern nation like England or France or Germany or somewhere, where they have brains.

America goes to the ISP's like Verizon and Sudden Link and demand that they block all communications with those sites. The ISP refuses, and the government waves the new law in their faces and they are forced to comply.

It would still be possible to connect to the sites from America via their IP address, but the vast majority of the American population would loose access.

This does nothing for pirating, and everything for fucking the American Citizen population up the ass with a rusty tire iron and no lube.

and again once that happened the companys who generate billions will do whats necessary to make sure they are put back up. say you were the owner of facebook or google, you have billions and could literally do anything you wanted, the government says there going to shut you down. your just going to bend over? lmao. ya NOT. simply passing money to the right congressmen and women will get the bill revoked or changed in their favor. its NOT going to happen, your just insanely paranoid link. the government isnt trying to total control, because if they got anywhere close america would lose its shit. just calm down and realize its not going to happen ^_^

Just gonna throw this in here, the government has shut down big corporations before and almost shut down Microsoft but didn't due to that such an action would make Bill Gates only even richer than he was at the time.
