Absolutely. I even noted that or tried to when I said, GD has a little of all arpg/mmo I'm familiar with. It seems to remind me most of D2. But it has mechanics I've seen in WoW, D2,D3, POE and Final Fantasy 11 all rolled into one. Them things I'm sure are in a lot of games, but in my list of games I played the things that made them unique, GD has them all. Which in the end makes it absolutely different than almost anything I've played =( Guess I oughta play more Arpg lol

Please understand I'm not trying to knock D3. I've played since D1 (started right before D2 came out so that's not a huge memory) D1 that is. There's a lot of layers to GD that I've only seen games have one of. Example, FF11 was the first and only game I've played that allowed a sub class. I know since then it's been in other games, for my experience, limited as it is, things like this are what makes it good. The UI and play styles is what makes it recognizable. It really is to me, a Word of Warcraft/Diablo 2/POE/FF11 clone all meshed into one. Different for sure, yet recognizeably the same. I think that "difference" is what's really appealing me the most to it.

I agree, when you realize you're bored is when you should probably move on. Thing about D3, they remove the boring each patch but I just can't find the grind in me to keep going.. I have to disagree that it's not a flaw of the game. If you played at launch or pre-RoS and understand the changes it has went through, it just seems like anymore bnet is trying ti "fix" the game instead of "add-on" to it.

I admit using a game like D2 was a bad example of an unflawed game that had enough content and design to be fun no matter how long you played. Not myself, some people STILL play it after ten years, most of us played it for five or so years before we quit. Let's take Final Fantasy 11. Mind you, I'm not trying to use the games mechanics or designs as what made them last, but the idea that they're fun and they had extended shelf lives. Both are games lasting over 10 years and people find enjoyable. That's why I'm posting this. I know a lot of people are upset or bored. Thus far I'm not bored at all with GD. I won't be the last person to tell you you might be right, I might think it's stale in a few months and drag myself back to D3 or something else thats hyped up at the time =) In my opinion, it's worth a look if you can't find yourself enjoying D3.

As I've only had a few days to play Grim Dawn vs. Four Years this might be a bit premature to say but. Remember that "feeling" you got when you played D2(Two no typo), when it always felt fun no matter what act you were in or what you were doing and you just couldn't get enough. Grim Dawn brings back that feeling. It's probably in short called addiction. Anywho, I just can't play D3 for longer than a month or two after every patch. Someone said there is only an illusion of diversity, which is true but I"m starting to think it's an illusion of fun.

So far what I've noticed with GD is that it has a little of everything I liked from recent and past Arpg\MMO. D3 on the otherhand is stuck trying to be the next big thing. For myself it's not lasting long enough. I'm not here to bash on D3, I like the game, just have to be honest when it comes to my idea of overall fun. D3 is fun, it has it's points that make you enjoy it. It remind me of a sucker, you can only lick it so much then it's gone. How long it lasts depends on how fast you can eat it. I'll be back next patch I'm sure. For now, rather once again I'm gonna play something else till a new patch comes out. If you feel D3 is also a bit stale during Season X or Patch 2.XX. Give GD a try. Might help relieve some of the WTF is going on tension that seems to come after a patch.

See ya next season.. Enjoy your time no matter what you play or what you do.

P.S. I do not work for any developers. I'm not trying to sale you anything but my opinion - it's on the house =)

This isnt a new game mode, this is what D3 was like at launch. Simply allow the self-entitled everything for me type of people to login to vanilla servers.

back when D3 was fun and not dead, yeh make it like Vanilla

How is that fun though? That's my question to the people that want D3 to be like this.

Why would you want LESS options for your character builds? Why would you want no reason to play after hitting level 70 and finishing campaign? Why wouldn't you want grifts?

If the complaint is that you don't like sets because they force you to play a certain way, why would you prefer yellows? Wouldn't that essentially give you NO options to build with, forcing you to just pick the highest dps abilities with gear that essentially does nothing? Why is that more fun?

Why would you want there to be literally NO end game after campaign? Why would you want XP to be completely useless after reaching 70?

Is this really the ideal setup for a game like this? You play 10-20 hours on a character, get him yellows that offer the highest dps, hit 70, finish campaign and that's it? Why? Why are you opposed to MORE options and MORE things to do in endgame?

Dude, I agree with you. When the game was like that after launch, rather up until Reaper of Souls and a few patches later, I had quit the game at least 5-6 times due to extreme repetitiveness and boredom. Quite literally though how you defined to change the game was exactly how it was during launch. The majority of us were pissed, unhappy with our purchases and if i remember right, we all even hated Jay Wilson for his idea of how this game should have been developed
(he got fired or moved off the project over it)
Imagine a game where all you have is campaign, no extra game modes whatsoever ( We did have hardcore). The drop rate was 1/100th of what it is now. You'd find a legendary maybe one in five to ten runs. We farmed act3 ALL day long, no where else provided the monster density. Back then any main stat could roll on your item. You would spend hours farming to find your best drop ever, but it has STR on it and you are a Wiz. That was extremely common prior to loot 2.0. Imagine beating Ghom as being your pinnacle of all you achieved in D3. Ghom was so hard he was damn near unbeatable. I used mostly all Rare items. My best weapon was a Rare wand. I'm surprised you didn't play at launch with your explanation of the game mode. You hit it 100%, explained vanilla perfectly.
What gets me the most about the crybabies is.. We bought vanilla, we bought RoS., we made the choice, you can't blame someone else for your decisions. Most of what we got has come as a FREE content patch. How someone complains about something they didn't have to do anything for... I'm at a loss for words. I just hope if they ever win the lottery they bitch and complain how they deserve more.. I mean who does that? In a perfect world every legendary would drop with perfect stats and blizzard would have created a game that every individual agree'd was perfect. See where I'm going with this? lol

posted a message on How Do I Make The Most Of Bane Of The Stricken?

Depends really on your class. I'll example how a wizard (myself) has used it. First off if its level 25 anything that gets close to you is slowed, that turns on the dps effect. I could use disintegrate using the passive temporal flux which says any arcane dmg I do slows the mobs. I could use Frost hydra, anything it attacks is chilled. There's handful of synergies that a wiz could use. The idea is to put them under a crowd control effect in order to activate the dps of BOTT.

Now I don't know the details of why use bott vs bots. I would have to guess it's more because of the 2.4 builds. Take the top wiz, it uses Slow Time, that bubble is effective to the whole grp, that bubble also produces crowd control effects. Likewise things die pretty fast in T10 that unless you are really struggling to kill things bots would likely never get a 30% bonus.

posted a message on lvling gems bugd?

I don't think it's bugged. Since responding the first time I've leveled a few gems and did get a no sound no animation quite a bit. I paid to upgrade them and every single one i upgraded made it to 24 by 6th run. So far the levels are working out its just the animations and sounds were missing.

Edit: Just in case its their level when they or if they bug out. Up to level 30 is what ive tested so far. Below 30 I can say I had no issues.

I think I've noticed this also but. if you click really fast to upgrade a gem it will let you now, before you could not do that. I'd really need to watch my gem levels before I agree. But ya that does happen where you get no acknowledgment that you have just clicked to upgrade a gem. I just never thought to see if it worked as far as gem level goes. It is possible that the new change to how fast you can upgrade them is whats happening.

posted a message on seasons vs non season question

IIRC season only legendaries are going away. Like said above, pet and a portrait. Mind you pets have a new ability in this patch, they pick up gold for you. Everyone will prob use pets come next patch. I'm not sure if all pets do it or not, but the one from season will.

Like every item patch, not everything will retro. This isn't always a bad thing, I kept two old treasure rings which are pretty damn fun to use in NS

posted a message on broken promises; what does "consectuive non-critical hits" mean.

This got me confused now. Can someone explain the difference between an attack and a hit. CC versus just an attack? I'm thinking of this as critical hit chance being per hit you have X chance to crit versus 5 non crits that are attacks. From what I think I understand is, an attack can hit multiple targets and be considered 1 "hit" with this ring on. Straight CC, say I have 70% CC I aoe an attack to hit 5 targets. On CC would the result be considered an attack like this ring? Or would that proc CHD on possibly 1-3 of the five target pack?

Someone explained that a aoe with this ring counts as one attack? What does a aoe without this ring and heavy CC count as? Individual hits or just one attack that can CHD the whole aoe dmg? At this point lol, I don't even know if this is making sense how I'm asking.

I think I got it. Is hit and attack to be thought as as two different calculations? Lets say I proc "on hit" with something, likewise something else I got procs "per attack". Those are separate processes? A hit is different from an attack?

posted a message on broken promises; what does "consectuive non-critical hits" mean.

I mentioned this before and no one answered. I suck at math and from what I understand a 100% of something in d3 doesn't mean it WILL happen. So my question is. If you pumped up your attack speed to 2.00 and had a 50% crit hit chance wouldn't you theoretically crit once per attack? Why would this be better to crit once every five attacks? It seems like unless it gives a 100% of your chd in the process that it just wouldn't stand up against a standard crit build.
