man its funny to see how gaming journalists have totally 180'd on video game violence (as someone who watched it take shape in the 90s), its like if it has blood its automatically "emogothwristslits".

Whats wrong with wanting some nicely dark games (i mean in tone, not actual contrast)? Do movie goer's get trolled by Disney fans when a new Quintin Tarintino movie comes out? I mean I can enjoy "HAPPY FUN FLUFFY KITTEN ADVENTURES" as much as the next 28 year old male games journalist, but it doesn't mean I want candy and popcorn falling out of people getting shot in the face in the latest ww2 game release.

I have all the consoles and a gaming pc, and I would still rather they focus on pc only stuff, every single franchise that has been on both this gen/last gen has been dumbed down from its pc predecessor franchises

    fallout series - fallout 3
    CoD series - CoD 4
Baldurs Gate Series - KoToR / Mass Effect

the only 2 ports I ever played that even resembled the pc (supererior) PC versions were
X-Com 1 on psx (had better videos, and mouse support)
and Deux Ex 1 (had the UI, Controls, Level layout, and Videos redone on the ps1, but it turned out nicely)

console versions usually mean to me "EZ-Mode" versions for all.

Gaming pc nowadays are alot cheaper and you can get buy just fine on a 2 year old card, (remember when you needed a new one almost every 6 months?), sooner entry level pc's come with good video cards, sooner the convergence will happen and consoles will die off to the Home Theatre PC in the living room.

Well, I just can't believe anyone would even consider buying that crap. Its just ridiculous. Its custom stuff. Since 1993, stuff made by the players for an existing game was always free. Those that try selling it never got much. Its just ripping people off. Don't tell me the majority would be willing to pay for anything like that. I just don't buy it.

yeah but to be fair, even John Carmack has said the the days of just whipping out maps/mods are pretty much over (speaking about FPS games), nowadays the barrier to entry for a mod team against professional work is so high, you might as well be a development team in-in of itself, obviously Starcraft 2 is a bit lower barrier to entry in making maps etc than a full blown fps game, but it will probably be more involving and time consuming, If something great comes out, and can now be financially supported, I think we will see people working harder, and longer on the "good" mods, and when a mod is really well done, kicking a few bucks to whoever made it, weighted against the HOURS of enjoyment it provides isn't too bad.

I don't mean to come across like a shill for micropayments, but if a few dollars is enough to let some really creative people spend their time wisely making something that they are passionate about, but also giving us those "this is amazing" moments we never thought a game (engine) could do, Its a fair sacrifice, at least to me.

we will see, they are already going to charge for "premium maps / mods" for Starcraft 2, I will be shocked if Diablo 3 doesn't have something as an incentive (even if "everyone" has a account stash, you can pay to have it bigger, etc).

    haven't Blizzard heard of Hamachi?

I think thats why they removed LAN from SC2, now it will have to authenticate through the battle.net servers.

And I heard that emulated WoW servers, well....suck (No Raids, hacks everywhere, etc), plus why pirate a MMO of all things, your taking the sole reason to even play (Massive Multiplayer) out of the equation, (its not like they have that compelling of a story/gameplay, for a single player game).

I wouldn't mind a small fee for extras, I can see there being a whole "account" tied to blizzard games, since they have the battle.net accounts for WoW & other games now, kinda like a SoE station pass.

WoW making mega bucks doesn't make it ok for them to lose money on Diablo 3 + battle.net 2. If indeed maintaining what they have planned for battle.net 2 would in the long run cost more in maintenance and manpower than just a single game purchase for 50 per person would cover, are they just supposed to "eat it"?, not a good way to do business.

I can see some mega stripped down battle.net 2 for those wishing not to pay, that will lack the new features for bnet2, and those willing to pay will get them, something for Diablo 3 like an online account wide "stash", or mule, or even "Items Storefront" for trading would be good extras that wouldn't effect peoples ability to play or the games balance, but would also be a nice incentive to throw a couple of extra bucks in blizzards coffers.
